What Part of Illegal is not Clear?

By Gina Aveni on Aug 30, 2011 in Politics

The cost of illegal immigration to taxpayers in the U.S. is astranomical. In addition, it is unfair to those people who went through the process the right way, while others come here, stay, and do it all illegally and yet they are rewarded with a life of entitlements via U.S. taxpayers. Is there something confusing to people about the word illegal; the word ‘illegal’ should shed some light on what action to take. Is it fair to people who have been waiting for years to become American citizens to continue to wait while others just do things illegally and still recieve benifits as though they are citizens?

Two of the three people who were innocently hiking and accidentally wandered into neighboring Iran were sentenced to eight years in jail by the Iranian legal system. They were charged with spying and entering the country illegally. July 2008: Abu Dhabi: Twenty-seven men were convicted by the Federal Supreme Court for illegally entering the country. March 21, 2009 two women journalists were arrested when they illegally crossed into North Korea. January 2, 2010 North Korean authorities detained a U.S. national for illegally entering the communist state from China. August 2, 2007 Russian Guard services claim they have prevented more than 6000 people from entering the country illegally. The list is endless; no where in the world can a person enter a country illegally, stay, and also get government support for food, clothing, shelter, education, and medical treatment – all via taxpayers. The key word is illegal. If you are here illegally, you’re not a U.S. citizen, thus like everywhere else in the world you don’t have any rights here.

Currently our nation is heading toward an economic meltdown with no clear path for revival in sight. AT the rate congress and this president are spending it is just a matter of time before we see the events of the UK and Spain right here; we are already witnessing the flash mobs here just in lower levels of violence. The spending trends surpass that of any other president. To make matters worse is the obvious misrepresentation to the American people regarding spending, the economy, and lowering the deficit. Despite the negative consequences this president refuses to deal with illegal immigration acccording to the laws of this country, which is costing money we simply do not have, rather he plans to put into law the Dream Act or other legislation in favor of illegal immigration. Clearly, there is a blatant disregard for all those American’s who came here and did things the right way. In addition, there are numerous studies which were presented to him stating the insurmountable cost of illegal immigration on taxpayers of the United States. Why is all the evidence supporting the obvious being ignored?

The Federation for Immigration Reform (FAIR) published a report on the cost of Illegal Immigration on United States Taxpayers. The charts from the study are listed below and they are representative of a small portion of the full report. To read the study in full go to: The title of the report is: The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on United States Taxpayers. Written by Jack Martin, Director of Special Projects and Eric A. Ruark, Director of Research – July 2010 (revised February 2011).

Keynesian Economics

John Maynard Keynes is the author of Keynesian economics who was both an investor and economist of his time. Born in 1883 subject to British Queen Victoria and died in 1946.

Keynesian Economics stemmed from ideas that have taken a toll on the American Economy.  The belief that government creates jobs rather than the private sector is ludicrous. The new jobs bill will continue to destroy the American economy because the people being taxed are the people who have the money to create jobs.  Jeffrey Immelt, GE chairman and head of the Obama’s Job Council sat next to Michelle Obama at her husbands Jobs Speech. Jeffery Immelt is one of those rich people who doesn’t pay taxes and more importantly, HE MOVED HIS BUSINESS TO CHINA. Just one of many who have no reason to create jobs in the United States, their country, because of the ridiculous regulations and high taxes imposed on business in the US.  Businesses are moving out of this country for a reason. Logic would suggest that if they are all leaving and taking jobs away from the American people then something must be painfully wrong here.

Keynesian Economics suggests the public sector, or the state can stimulate economic growth and improve stability in the private sector through interest rates, taxation, and public projects. He believed that unemployment can be remedied through government deficit spending and can be checked by means of government tax surpluses (Rothbard 2008).

 Keynesian Economics in a Nutshell

  1. If investment exceeds savings there will be inflation. On the contrary if investment exceeds savings there will be recession. One of the things this suggests is at times when the economy is failing spending should be encouraged while saving would be discouraged. (Thus our current government). Naturally this contrary to logic and wisdom which suggests being thrifty during difficult times is important. Keynes did not believe that, in fact he said, “For the engine which drives enterprise is not thrift, but profit.”

  1. Keynes was opposed to Say’s Law which states that supply creates demand. Keynes believed the opposite; output determined demand.

  1. With regard to employment Keynes believed unemployment was caused by people not spending enough money total amounts of output result from total amounts of spending.

  1. In a recession the total demand of economies fails – the business and the private sector begin to control their spending more thus lowering demand which then contributes to job loss and further spending deficits. Keynes believed that government should borrow money and boost demand by pumping money into the economy. (Sound familiar) Based on this type of thinking once the economy recovers government would then pay back the loans – in this case there is not money available to do so. In fact the term Ponzi Scheme as stated by Gov. Perry with regard to social security is an accurate assessment of Social Security. People paid money into social security with the belief it would be there when they reached retirement age. The Clinton administration took social security money so it would appear he had a surplus, he replaced the money with an IOU (Trust Fund Bonds) but he never paid the money back.

Bill Clinton’s OMB noted back in 2000:

These [Trust Fund] balances are available to finance future benefit payments and other trust fund expenditures-but only in a bookkeeping sense. These funds are not set up to be pension funds, like the funds of private pension plans. They do not consist of real economic assets that can be drawn down in the future to fund benefits. Instead, they are claims on the Treasury, that, when redeemed, will have to be financed by raising taxes, borrowing from the public, or reducing benefits or other expenditures. The existence of large trust fund balances, therefore, does not, by itself, make it easier for the government to pay benefits. (David C. John)

  1. Successful economies have large contributions from both government and the private sector.
  1. Keynes believe government should play in managing the economy which collided with Adam Smith’s thinking which was economies do better with the free market and away from government intervention.

I think if we have clear understanding of spending then we have an understanding of why this government is failing miserably with regard to our economy and jobs as well as foreign policy.  Perhaps this is just the result of an inexperienced person put in a position he was not qualified for in the first place. But that being said, why doesn’t he listen to anyone who is successful in business and knowledgeable about the free market and capitalism?  He appears to be a spoiled little boy, with a bully attitude, which is having a significant impact on everyone except him.

Did You Know?

You may feel as though you are well aware of the events that seem to shape the world today? Perhaps you feel as though they are beyond your power to change?  And then again, you might be inclined as many American’s are, to state you don’t care about politics.  In either case even the most diligent American would have a hard time keeping up with all the rhetoric on a daily basis that continues to plague the world we live in. It hard to keep up on the facts, and even harder to recognize what is fact and what is fiction on the Hill, when integrity seems to be a thing of the past.  The reality is, despite the attempts to dismiss the threat of radical Islam by the media and government officials, Islam is very much close to home and a real threat to our national security.  The majority of people are under the impression there is no cause for alarm; they fail to recognize the depth of the infiltration of Islam which is deeply rooted in our U.S. culture, society, and government.

Ironically, probably 99 percent of American’s probably don’t know most of what I am about to tell you. If they do know, and discuss it publicly, they are either criticized, dismissed, or marginalized.  To a certain extent we have become complacent and have allowed our government to spiral out of control while those we elect have their own self-serving agendas.  Career Politicians seem to feel as tho they are the voice for us, yet the words they choose behind close doors would probably make most of us cringe.

This year, and election year, you may want to take a closer look at who your voting for because not caring, lack of interest, or the other typical excuse “I’m not interested in politics” are all reasons that could contribute to the downfall of the United States as you believe it to be.   As an American you have a moral, ethical, and civic duty to care about the people you put into office, because they not only effect you, they have a significant impact on generations to come – not caring, lack of interest, or whatever the reason is what got us here in the first place.

Historically slavery has always been around long before America was discovered. Europe held out to be one of the greatest places for owning slaves and the concept was not shortly lived. For black people to continually play the race card and hold American’s hostage indefinitely, for ideals that have literally nothing to do with modern America is ludicrous. In addition, for anyone to presume they are the product of some master plan, which promotes the oppression of the black man on the basis of color is equally insane, we all have options.

Throughout history man has been witness some deplorable events which have left a mark from one generation to another. Although the idea of slavery in itself is despicable, the reality is that it was very much a part of life and history and not limited to just the black man and his family. This is not meant to be a history lesson, rather it is an attempt to help people realize that the constant use of the race card, as a means of discrimination, is really getting old. For decades now we have become so complacent to the feelings of others that we use the word tolerance over and over again, and in the process we have become more intolerant of Christians, Jews, conservatives, and anyone whose ethical and moral beliefs are not in sink with the norms of the twenty-first century. History brings with it the events of the times, right or wrong, they are what they are, and cannot be changed. But for some groups to claim they are being held captive by the oppressors of yesterday is truly biased and unfair to modern civilization, most of which would agree that they hold a certain level of contempt for the very idea of slavery. Those people who love to stir-up trouble and sensationlize every story, truly need to find a way to move on and find something better to do, something more productive. The very government some of these people support, is the same government responsible for their poverty to begin with. Entitlements make people dependant; they lose hope and desire to change what for them is truly changeable. Slavery by definition is submission to a dominating influence. (Merriam – Webster) The influence in this case is more likely big government — each man becomes a slave to his own beliefs whether real or imaginary, and to believe that big governemnt is not a form of slavery is to be delusional.

Plato was taught by Socrates, Aristotle by Plato. Together they comprise the most influential figures in Western Philosophy. The philosophy of Aristotle (384–322 B.C.E.) is what influenced St. Thomas Aquinas. He was also the teacher for Alexander the Great. In one of his more famous writings, The Politics, Aristotle asserts: “But is there any one thus intended by nature to be a slave, and for whom such a condition is expedient and right, or rather is not all slavery a violation of nature? There is no difficulty in answering this question, on grounds both of reason and of fact. For that some should rule and others be ruled is a thing not only necessary, but expedient; from the hour of their birth, some are marked out for subjection, others for rule.” (1) Aristotle believed that some people were naturally slaves and some were not, those who were not Greek were considered barbarians and therefore more likely, by nature to be slaves. The color of a man’s skin had no bearing on the issue of slavery back then. Aristotle went on to discuss the nature of things which played an important role later on in history. Although the idea or justification of slavery in itself is never justified the importance behind the theories of Aristotle cannot be ignored or replaced.

Another example of slavery existed in Europe who had more African slaves then any other country in the world. England, France and Portugal used slave labor in their colonies while others, such as the Netherlands, Norway and Denmark, were mainly active in the commercial trade and shipping, thus contributing to the trade by carrying slaves from Africa to the Caribbean and Latin America. France was a major player in the slave trade and many of its cities on the West Coast(such as Nantes, Lorient, La Rochelle, and Bordeaux) have built their wealth through the triangular trade. Slaves on French vessels were mainly taken to the French Caribbean colonies such as Saint-Domingue and Martinique. In addition, France is also notorious for introducing the Code Noir (‘black code), a decree written in 1685 providing formal regulations for the treatment of slaves, governing their lives, deaths, freedoms, religion and how they were to be bought and sold. This gruesome document served to de-humanize the enslaved Africans even more by institutionalizing the trade in humans even further. France eventually outlawed the slave trade in 1830 and slavery itself in 1848. (2)

Since slavery was not limited to African’s, I must say that I do not hold anyone responsible, nor do I play the race card, in the event that at one time or another perhaps my ancestor’s might have been held captive as slaves. Likewise, I am not responsible for slavery or events that occured in the past. We need to consider the reality that we all have the free will to determine our own fate. We have the means and the ability to work to achieve our individual goals, follow our dreams, and determine the path we choose to walk. To hold on to the ideals that somehow every white man, women, and child born in the United States is somehow responsible for the oppression of Black people is ridiculous. The race card is so over played and reverse racism has become the norm for some people. In addition, whoever came up with the idea of adding the word American on to an ethnic group e.g. African-American – is equally stupid. Seriously, this idea was derived by someone with to much time on their hands. Clearly, whether you are black, white, pink, or purple, and if you were born in the United States, it is presumed you are an American, there is not need to put the American after your ethnic group.

The lesson to be learned here is that History is important. Without the truth and clear understanding about who we are as a people we can become misguided and lose faith in what is important. The truth of the matter is we are all children of God, whether we believe in him or not, it doesn’t matter, and we are all made in his image. What we need to do is treat everyone the way we would want to be treated, even the annoying person who we try to avoid; maybe that person even more. Hope is what allows us to persevere even in the worst of times — never lose site of that. Naturally, it is essential to realize that if we ignore history we are destined to repeat it.

1 Aristotle’s theory of slavery is found in Book I, Chapters lll through Vll of the Politics and in Book VII of the Nicomachean Ethics.

The President, Gas Prices, and the Use of Deception.

Gas prices in the United States are an ongoing concern. Prices for food, clothing, and shelter are also sky rocketing, but the cost of gas is getting higher and higher. Clearly the rising prices are a reflection of many things including our failing economy and out outrageous spending by a government out of control, but intentionally tying to manipulate the American people through deception seems to be the ongoing theme of this president.

President Obama would love the American people to believe we are producing more oil in the United States awhile giving oil companies taxpayer money. The president wants to invest more money on “wind-power and solar power, and bio-fuels, investments in fuel efficient cars and trucks, and energy efficient homes and building’s that’s the future”(Obama speech 3/29/2012). There was a recent study which proved that global warming is not the result of mankind. Evidence was found in a rare mineral that records global temperatures warming was global and NOT limited to Europe which throws doubt on orthodoxies around ‘global warming.’ (Ted Thornhill:, so why are we spending astronomical amounts of money, we DON’T have on these things? That is one of many questions you should be asking.

The president wants congress to strip oil companies of some of the tax breaks they currently receive while pushing his own failed green energy bills. He said, “I think its curious that some folks in congress were the first to belittle investments in new sources for energy are the ones that are fighting the hardest to maintain these giveaways for the oil companies. That is the only way to break the cycle of high gas prices that happened year, after year, after year. As the economy is growing the only time you start seeing lower gas prices is when the economy is doing badly. We can’t just drill our way out of this problem as I said, “Oil production here in the United States is doing very well.” And its been doing well even as gas prices are going up. The reason is: we are using 20 percent of the worlds oil but we only have 2 percent of the worlds known oil reserves. That means we could drill every drop of the American Oil tomorrow, but we would still have to buy oil from other countries to make up the difference. We would still have to rely on other countries to meet our energy needs.” (Obama Speech 3/29/2012). He wants to continue to invest in wind-power and so on all those things that now have a proven record of being unsuccessful, by manipulating the American public. Green energy has cost taxpayers billions of dollars over the years, there is literally no record of success, and yet money continues to be spent.

According to Eric Bolling (Fox Business Network) Congress is not giving oil companies a penny, they are allowing them to keep more of their profits. “So, if that is taken away your raising taxes on oil companies.” It is not as the president tried to portray. What we are doing is taking tax payer money to subsidize green energy companies that our president outlined in the sum of more then 100 billion dollars.

With the onset of rising prices, the jobless rate at an all time high, and with a government bankrupting this country it is time to engage, do research, and wake up to the realities of what is going on in this country. When you have people running this country who can look you in the eye, and lie, it is time to make a change and get involved. Do you really think we are drilling and producing oil to our capacity? Do you really think this government is helping you by taking control of health care, banking, auto, education, and so on? Every aspect of your life is being infiltrated by government including your children and what they see, learn, eat, as well as the morals and values they are being taught. Just this one short speech by the president, regarding the oil industry, was deceptive – do you really think that is all that he lies about?

The United States – Democracy vs. Republic What Are We?

Democracy vs. Republic. WHAT ARE WE?
In his article titled Too Much of a Good Thing – Why We need less democracy, Economist and the former Director of the office of Budget and Management for President Obama, Peter Orszag stated, “In an 1814 letter to John Taylor, John Adams wrote that “there never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.” That may read today like an overstatement, but it is certainly true that our democracy finds itself facing a deep challenge: During my recent stint in the Obama administration as director of the Office of Management and Budget, it was clear to me that the country’s political polarization was growing worse—harming Washington’s ability to do the basic, necessary work of governing. If you need confirmation of this, look no further than the recent debt-limit debacle, which clearly showed that we are becoming two nations governed by a single Congress—and that paralyzing gridlock is the result. We need less Democracy.”i Regardless of how he intended this statement to read, the words have a lot of meaning in and of themselves among the American people. Clearly there is some confusion about the word democracy and its place as it relates to American understanding of it.

We constantly hear commentaries suggesting we are a democracy, for that reason it would seem prudent to repeat it over and over again that we are not. But of equal importance is the understanding of what we are (were meant to be) and the sippery slope we traveling on. Modern America in its haste for tolerance and understanding for all has drifted away from our core beliefs and our individual liberties as protected by the Constitution. Individual freedom and liberty were at the forfront of the founders mindset, these rights were put into place in an effort to protect our individual rights and freedoms, they did not intend to dictate rights and liberties for the masses as a whole.

As a free people we need to formulate our own opinions, thus, it is crutial for us to have a clear and precise understanding regarding the differences between a democracy and a republic as stated in the Constitution of the United States of America. The vast majority of American’s have no idea that the United States is a Republic. How many people do you hear saying, “We are a democracy. We are a democratic nation?” They have no idea we undergoing a change that will have an adverse effect on generations of the future. Our rights as we have believed them to be, are being taken away one by one, as government continues to grow and inform us of what is in our best interest. Can you name an area where the government has not intruded? You can’t, because our governement has infiltrated all aspects of daily life – banking, auto, finance, health care, the family, what we eat where we go what we drive, and so on. What does that mean? If we contiue to travel down the road of discourse and turn a blind eye on the disemination of our Constitution, then the rights we presume to have will continue to become non-exsistant. In the event the people decide to wake up and see the big picture it may be to late. Our founders never intended to create an entitlement society whereby the governement continues to grow and interfer with rights and liberties of individuals as it is currently doing.

4 USC § 4 – Pledge of allegiance to the flag; manner of delivery:

“I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

The Constitution guarantees to every state a Republican form of government. Article IV, Sec. 4: The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Applicaions of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic Violence.

The United States is moving down a dangerous path toward a global democracy. This was never the intent of the Founders and for good reason. Gary McLeod wrote and interesting piece on the subject Republic vs. Democracy. Just after the completion and signing of the Constitution, in reply to a woman’s inquiry as to the type of government the Founders had created, Benjamin Franklin said, “A Republic, if you can keep it.” Not only have we failed to keep it, most don’t even know what it is. A Republic is representative government ruled by law (the Constitution). A democracy is direct government ruled by the majority (mob rule). A Republic recognizes the inalienable rights of individuals while democracies are only concerned with group wants or needs (the public good). Our constitution was written with the focus on approval from our three branches of government with regard to making laws. The process was meant to be a slow because illegal democracy occurs on a regular basis by “requiring approval from the whim of the majority as determined by polls and/or voter referendums.

Democracies always self-destruct when the non-productive majority realizes that it can vote itself handouts from the productive minority by electing the candidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury. To maintain their power, these candidates must adopt an ever-increasing tax and spend policy to satisfy the ever-increasing desires of the majority. As taxes increase, incentive to produce decreases, causing many of the once productive to drop out and join the non-productive. When there are no longer enough producers to fund the legitimate functions of government and the socialist programs, the democracy will collapse, always to be followed by a Dictatorship (McLeod).

Although many politicians, teachers, journalists and citizens all believes our Founders created a democracy, that simply isn’t accurate. The Founders knew full well the differences between a Republic and a Democracy and they repeatedly and emphatically said that they had founded a republic. So I repeat, Article IV Section 4, of the Constitution “guarantees to every state in this union a Republican form of government”…. Conversely, the word Democracy is not mentioned even once in the Constitution. Madison warned us of the dangers of democracies with these words, “Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths…”, “We may define a republic to be a government which derives all its powers directly or indirectly from the great body of the people, and is administered by persons holding their offices during pleasure for a limited period, or during good behavior. It is essential to such a government that it be derived from the great body of the society, not from an inconsiderable proportion or a favored class of it; otherwise a handful of tyrannical nobles, exercising their oppressions by a delegation of their powers, might aspire to the rank of republicans and claim for their government the honorable title of republic.” James Madison, Federalist No. 10, (1787). Time and time again we warned about the dangers of a democracy, yet the business of our daily lives perpetuates the depletion of the Constitution as we know it. “A wise man will not leave the right to the mercy of chance, nor wish it to prevail through the power of the majority. There is but little virtue in the action of masses of men.” Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862)

In the past, our military training manuals used to contain the correct definitions of Democracy and Republic. The following comes from Training Manual No. 2000-25 published by the War Department, November 30, 1928.

A government of the masses.
Authority derived through mass meeting or any other form of “direct” expression. Results in mobocracy.
Attitude toward property is communistic–negating property rights.
Attitude toward law is that the will of the majority shall regulate, whether is be based upon deliberation or governed by passion, prejudice, and impulse, without restraint or regard to consequences. Results in demogogism, license, agitation, discontent, anarchy.

Authority is derived through the election by the people of public officials best fitted to represent them.
Attitude toward law is the administration of justice in accord with fixed principles and established evidence, with a strict regard to consequences.
A greater number of citizens and extent of territory may be brought within its compass.
Avoids the dangerous extreme of either tyranny or mobocracy.
Results in statesmanship, liberty, reason, justice, contentment, and progress.
Is the “standard form” of government throughout the world.

The manuals containing these definitions were ordered destroyed without explanation about the same time that President Franklin D. Roosevelt made private ownership of our lawful money (US Minted Gold Coins) illegal. Shortly after the people turned in their $20 gold coins, the price was increased from $20 per ounce to $35 per ounce. Almost overnight F.D.R., the most popular president this century (elected 4 times) looted almost half of this nation’s wealth, while convincing the people that it was for their own good. Many of F.D.R.’s policies were suggested by his right hand man, Harry Hopkins, who said, “Tax and Tax, Spend and Spend, Elect and Elect, because the people are too damn dumb to know the difference” (Mcleod).

As everyone knows this is an election year. But this year is more important than ever before because our Constitution and all it stands for is at stake. Polititians will continue with the status quo as they always do, but regardless of who you are, Republican or Democrat you owe it your children, grand-children, etc., to truly know what is at stake and what is happening because their future is in your hands. The attitude, “I am not really into politics” or saying, “I don’t care” does not relieve you from the responsibility nor the outcome of future events.

Jihad in the USA

Young men in Minnesota still being encouraged to join the jihad.

A college student from St. Paul, MN has been arrested on charges of making terroristic threats, according to his family.

As reported by, “[t]he family of Sharmarke Duale, 20, told police he had done well in high school and college until he began attending a mosque on University Avenue, according to a criminal complaint.

The name of the mosque was not mentioned.

“Since that time, he has been very disrespectful toward the women in the house and has threatened his father to try to get his father to assist Duale in getting a passport,” according to the complaint filed Thursday in Ramsey County District Court.”

According to the report, Duale had become aggressive recently and threatened to injure or kill his mother and sister. Duale also allegedly demanded assistance from his father to obtain a passport so he could travel to fight jihad, though his father is denying that claim.

This is not an isolated incident.

The FBI has investigated the rising number of young men from Minnesota that are being radicalized and joining terror groups in recent years.

In 2008 and 2009, the FBI investigated 20 missing persons cases involving young men and boys, who were in some cases reportedly found in Somalia training with al-Shabaab, an Al Qaeda-linked terror group attempting to take over the Somali government.

The New York Times reported on the situation in 2009:

“An examination by The New York Times, based on interviews with close friends and relatives of the men, law enforcement officials and lawyers, as well as access to live phone calls and Facebook messages between the men and their friends in the United States, reveals how a far-flung jihadist movement found a foothold in America’s heartland.

The men appear to have been motivated by a complex mix of politics and faith, and their communications show how some are trying to recruit other young Americans to their cause.”

Noting the threat to young men of Somali decent in the Minneapolis area, Somali President Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed visited the Twin Cities in October 2009 to denounce the recruitment of young men by al Shabaab and its supporters. Ahmed vowed to work with U.S. officials, parents and imams to thwart future attempts to radicalize young people in the United States.

That message didn’t make it Sharmarke Duale.

Duale has no previous criminal record and was being held as of Friday in the the Ramsey County Jail.

Freedom Is Not Free

On Friday (November 11) this country will celebrate Veterans’ Day. The day was known originally known as Armistice Day. But why the 11th of November? Because major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour (11 A.M.) of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918. And why (and when) the name change? In 1953, an Emporia, Kansas man, Alvin King, had the idea to honor all veterans, not just those who died in World War I. With the help of U.S. Representative Ed Rees, also from Emporia, a bill for the holiday was passed by Congress, and President Dwight Eisenhower signed it into law on May 26, 1954. Congress, on June 1, 1954, replaced “Armistice” with “Veterans,” and it has been known as Veterans’ Day ever since. So there is a lot more to Veterans’ Day than just a paid holiday for federal government employees.

Today we hear quite a bit about the “super committee,” comprised of six Republicans and six Democrats, that is charged with reducing the federal budget and, therefore, the deficit. It has until Nov. 23 to formulate recommendations or activate the “trigger” that will initiate automatic cuts in defense and entitlement spending. Defense comprises about 20% of the entire US budget. In 2010, defense spent $530 billion, not including war costs.

What, you ask, is the “trigger?” The Debt Ceiling Deal, struck in July, 2011, proposes, among other things, a $350 billion cut in the defense budget over the next ten years. If the “super committee” fails to reach its goal, an automatic reduction (the “trigger”) in spending will occur, with half coming from domestic spending (about $600 Billion) and half (about $600 billion on TOP of the $350 billion already cut) coming from the defense budget.

Former U.S. Ambassador John Bolton said on July 31, 2011, “Defense has already taken hugely disproportionate cuts under President Obama, and there is simply no basis for expanding those cuts further. Republican negotiators [on the supercommittee] must hold the line, since the Obama Administration plainly will not.” Army General Martin Dempsey warned that it would be “extraordinarily difficult and very high risk” to cut $800 billion from defense spending as part of efforts to reduce the nation’s $14.3 trillion debt. He continued, “National security didn’t cause the debt crisis nor will it solve it.” General Joseph Dunford, assistant commandant of the Marine Corps, said, “I think if they were to exceed $400 billion we would start to have to make some fundamental changes in the capability of the Marine Corps. That would mean a smaller force and a reassessment of its strategic mission.” General Philip Breedlove, vice chief of staff of the Air Force, said cuts of $400 billion will cause “quite some concern” about money to replace the Air Force’s aging aircraft fleet. Strategic bombers are, on average, 34 years old, refueling tankers 47 years old, and airlift planes 19 years old.

From these remarks by people who KNOW their business and are not just vote buying, “freedom is not free.”

In the interest of full disclosure, yes, I am a veteran, so I cannot be objective here. And I am sure that I speak for a vast majority of veterans who will say that we do/did serve because of love of country.

But that’s just my opinion.

Entitlements – The Effects of Big Government

While the Democratic party continues to find ways to spend money, and the president is off golfing, taking vacations, or just out campaign trail hoping for an addional four year term – the country is falling into a deeper recession. Whether people agree or disagree, democrat or republican, it doesn’t matter; just look at how much the cost of goods and services have gone up in the past few weeks. Although this presidents spending has well exceeded that of his predecessors, he alone is not responsible for the debt crisis, nor the creation of the entitlement state, or a welfare society that currently exists. No,  the creation of big government began sometime ago, its effects are just beginning to catch up to us now. The sad part is, there are so many on the Hill who what to make the government even bigger, they fail to recognize the warning signs they are getting from those in Europe who are seeing the errors of their ways.

The spending in Washington that has been going on for decades is at the root of the problem.  However, the lack of clarity on how true job creation actually occurs – which is not by raising taxes or extending unemployment benefits as suggested by democrats.  The self-righteous attitudes of those on the hill, whose own self-interests seem to come first,  are just a few examples of what is at the crux of the problem. The reality is we live in a welfare society where people truly believe government entitlements are their God-given right.  These same people fail to recognize making government bigger than what it already is, is not the answer.

What is happening in Athens, London, and other parts of the world, and is beginning to happen here in the United States is just the beginning of waht happend to economys that cannot sustain government spending. The flash mobs, threats, violence, and so on that occurred in Madison, Wisconsin as well as other parts of the country, are the just beginning of what happens in a welfare society driven by people who have visons whichh are not founded in a realistic way.  The issues with Wisconsin employees are just one example of what is spreading across the nation.  These people are beginning to feel the end result of what happens to people who rely on entitlements simply because they were promised by a government whose spending well exceeds its income. This is what they were promised and this is what they truly believe they are entitled to at any cost, they don’t care.

There is a common theme that exists: even when times are rough, and government clearly cannot fulfill their expectations, and cuts are necessary, these flash mobs are proof that people demand what government has promised. Regardless if it bankrupts the state they are living in, they truly believe they are entitled to things such as pension plans they did not pay into, early retirement at age 53 or earlier, free medical benefits, welfare checks, food stamps, and the never-ending unemployment checks. The violence is just beginning. In addition, union officials are sending people to states to fight against anyone who tries to put an end to the entitlements. People are being threatened; their businesses are risk, if they don’t comply with the threats. One person in Kenosha, WI who was suppose to hold a tea party meeting was threatened and forced to hold the meeting elsewhere; scared by union goons.

What we are seeing in London is just the beginning of the end of years of government entitlements. Generations of people who have spent their entire lives living on government handouts and stimulus – the reality of government outspending always catches up; it is just a matter of time.  The people of London, for example, that time is now. The same thing is happening here and people are reacting the same way – fighting, picketing, rioting because they have a big government mentality. They believe that they have a right to the all the free stuff government has been providing.   Remember: As government keeps getting bigger people and business keep getting smaller – how do you create jobs from that? How do you like the end result? Think about that next time you go to vote or contact your congress man or woman.

What is Bilderberg Group?

In the height of all the controversy, and with blame at a heightened state in Washington, many of the candidates running in the 2012 election are gearing up for opposition. Texas Governor, Rick Perry, has not announced yet if he will run. As all the new candidates are under scrutiny by the media there has been some speculation that Perry is part of a secret group of elitists by the name of Bilderberg. The group may be part of a select few whose goals are to develop an international agenda.

The group was established in 1954, the Bilderberg Group holds annual meetings, which are by invitation only for the most wealthy and powerful people. Roughly one-third of those who attend are Americans and the rest are European. The group took the name Bilderberg after their first meeting which was held in Oosterbeek, Netherlands at the Hotel de Bilderberg.  There are those who believe the group is made up of an elite group of people whose strategic goal is a new world order. They meet to discuss, and influence, the changing global, political, economic and social landscape. Bilderberg -Planning on a New World Order. What appears to be the official website of Bilderberg is rather vague, but to the point. If it is in fact the groups web-site cannot be confirmed, however information on the site states:

What is unique about Bilderberg as a forum is

  • the broad cross-section of leading citizens that are assembled for nearly three days of informal and off-the-record discussion about topics of current concern especially in the fields of foreign affairs and the international economy;
  • the strong feeling among participants that in view of the differing attitudes and experiences of the Western nations, there remains a clear need to further develop an understanding in which these concerns can be accommodated;
  • the privacy of the meetings, which has no purpose other than to allow participants to speak their minds openly and freely.Bilderberg Meetings | The official website.

Governor Perry gets endorsement for Presidential election from Bilderberg according to Paul Joseph Watson of In an article he states, “While spewing Tea Party-style rhetoric about  secession, shooting coyotes and courting the favor of Christian evangelicals,  behind closed doors Perry has been quietly selling out Texas to globalist  interests, auctioning off  highways to foreign companies to turn them into profit-driven toll  roads.”

“Speculation that Perry is the Bilderberg group’s  ace card was prompted by the current political climate, which can largely be  gleaned from the fact that Perry is a longtime, unwavering supporter of the  NAFTA Superhighway and related infrastructure projects,” wrote  AFP’s Jim Tucker earlier this month. “These pave the way for the  Bilderberg-supported North American Union (NAU) proposal that would merge the  U.S., Canada and Mexico.” via » Bilderberg-Approved Perry Set to Become Presidential Frontrunner Alex Jones’ Infowars: There’s a war on for your mind!  Although he is clearly violating the Logan Act, Governor Perry still attends the 2007 Bilderberg conference. viaBusted! Kathleen Sebelius admitts that she and Rick Perry are Bilderberg Group attendees! – Orange County: Campaign For Liberty. The Logan Act is a US federal law which prohibits unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments. It was passed in 1799 and amended in 1994, violation of the law is a felony, punishable with up to three years in prison.

Executive Director Wes Benedict of the Libertarian Party expressed his voice regarding Mr. Perry. He said about Governor Perry, “You supported Lance Armstrong’s 3 billion dollar Texas taxpayer funded medical research center. That’s like Obama-Care. you secured a 300 million dollar business handout slush fund for you and just the two leaders of the legislature to dole out to whomever you felt like being friendly to.” He also went on to accuse Perry of a state business tax, setting up state toll booths on the TX highways, and signing an executive order which forces Texas schoolgirls to get the HPV vaccine – whether they, or their parents, want it or not. via Rick Perry slammed by Libertarian Director: video | Libertarian Party

Governor Perry has stated he will announce his plan to run for President this Saturday. Is it a good idea or not? You decide, and while you’re at it, you may want to look into all the candidates for yourself. Remember, the campaign trail has an historical record for producing a lot of rhetoric and very little action once they are in office.

The Blame Game Continues.

As most people have probably heard by now Sen.  John Kerry said, “Well, it’s a partial wake-up call. I believe this is, without question, the Tea Party downgrade”
Sen.Kerry Calls U.S. Credit Change The “Tea Party Downgrade” |RealClearPolitics.  David Alexelrod continued with the same rhetoric, as did many members of the Democratic Party, along with members of the press without any evidence to support those statements. “The fact of the matter is that this is essentially a Tea Party downgrade,” Obama adviser David
Axelrod said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”via ObamaDismisses Standard & Poor’s Downgrade, Sees New Urgency in Debt Talks – ABCNews. Vermont’s
Democratic Governor Howard Dean said, “”I think they’ve been smoking some of that tea and not just drinking it.” What ever happened to honest reporting? Why does it suddenly seem okay for the press to report whatever they want, without having any evidence whatsoever, to back up what they are saying?

Still, name-calling and playing the blame game will not solve our fiscal problems. Both sides can blame the other until the cows come home, after all we are close to re-election time, which seems to be more important than dealing with our failing economy.  The need to find a scapegoat rather than take responsibility seems to remain the norm on the hill; unless of course they get caught red-handed.  Let’s be clear: the tea party had nothing to do with the downgrade.  The Tea Party are those American’s who share the same concerns with regard to government spending, big government, and free enterprise. People in the Tea Party believe in the country and the constitution; those rights that are disappearing at the hands of big government right before your eyes.

David Beers, who heads Standards and Poor’s, made a direct statement suggesting Washington needs to get their fiscal house in order by downgrading the United States AAA rating. The blame from the left continues and when one strategy is unsuccessful they will resort to another. But, our excessive spending over the years, by both parities, got us into this
situation. However, Mr.Obama has spent more money in his term, to date, then that of the former president. Both houses were controlled by the Democrats, and yet they failed to do anything to address this countries fiscal deficit, yet they continue to blame the Tea Party and republicans. In two and half years they had control of congress, they don’t even have a budget. The debt ceiling was raised and this president spent sixty percent of the total in less than one day. U.S.eats up most of debt limit in one day – Washington Times.

Our debt situation is the problem, that is clear, yet I can’t help but wonder why we continue to give aide to foreign countries such as China who holds the world’s second greatest economy? The United States gives for example, $275 million to China, who claims they are a developing country and yet they hold $1.2 trillion of our debt.  This is tax-payer funded aid to China and they use the money on programs that have little or no impact anywhere in the world. So instead of passing the buck, taking time off, and blaming the other side perhaps this president along with congress should get together and try to come up with a sound package, like the Mack Penny Plan, to cut spending and put our country back on track.

Debt and our failing economy

Is the country being led astray once again by those on the Hill that appear to be doing business as usual? The words deficit and downgrade and debt-ceiling almost seem to be synonymous with one another when nothing could be further then the truth. Yet both sides think they are right; they have resorted to high school politics where one side blames the other, name-calling, and denial. And if that is not enough to send you into complete bewilderment, the current Bill, which was just passed, is full of idealism that will surely break the American economy, while setting in motion grave consequences for future generations. Raising the dept limit with out any structural reforms in place will be the primary force in setting the economy in a downward spiral. It is no wonder the average American is confused. So who is right?

Despite all the chaos, misrepresentation, and blame being thrown around on the Hill, and by the media, American’s seem to see the clear picture of what is going on based on current polls. For example, a July 12th Gallup poll showed 42% of Americans oppose raising the debt ceiling. The July 19th Wall Street Journal poll found that 55% of those polled felt raising the debt ceiling would be a major problem. One Gallup Poll found that Americans, by a 42% to 22% margin, want their representatives on the Hill to vote against an increase in the debt ceiling. The President of the United States, as well as some members of the Senate and House, have been reckless with spending from one generation to another, all of which have escaped accountability. Mr. Obama has spent more money during to date then that of Mr. Bush’s entire time in office. According to Karl Rove, “In 20 months, Mr. Obama will add as much debt as Mr. Bush ran up in eight years.”1 Raising the debt limit allows the president to spend more money and further the deficit. To be clear, the deficit is the amount of money we, as a country, are in debt; it is the money we owe to creditors, etc.

While the national debt continues to grow by the seconds, spending cuts continue to be nonexistent. The amount of cuts which would be required to balance the budget well exceed those suggested by congress. A downgrade would impact our AAA rating by Moody’s and S &P. Investors would view our failing economy as too much of a risk to invest in and take their business somewhere else. Whether it happens today, or five years from now, our AAA credit rating will go down if we continue to spend as though the checkbook is virtual black hole with no end in sight. In addition, to make matters worse as the United States becomes a mockery and concern for the rest of the world, institutional and foreign investors, those people or firms who invest large sums of money into securities, real property, and other types of investments, will reconsider investing in the US.

House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi regularly discussed the need for job creation and yet under this administration unemployment is at it highest level. David Axelrod, a political strategist for the president claimed the pork-laden stimulus package has been a success. But Mr. Obama told Americans that if it were passed, unemployment wouldn’t rise above 8%. It is now 10%. The president also said it would create 3.7 million jobs, 90% of which would be in the private sector. By Mr. Obama’s standards, the stimulus failed miserably.2 To create jobs we need to lower corporate taxes to be more competitive with the rest of the world. If we truly want to bring business back to this country and away from places like China and India we would need to look at the Tax code in its entirety.

There were a lot of bills on the table, the Ryan Bill, Cut, Cap, and Balance just to name a few. They were killed in the Senate by Senator Harry Reid. Cut, Cap, and Balance would have addressed the spending issues while putting measures into place to effectively balance our budget. The Connie Mack Penny plan which was discussed, but not something many people heard about, it also dealt with the excessive squandering that goes on in our government. More explicitly it would cut federal spending by one percent for six years, set a cap of 18 percent of gross domestic product in 2018, and reduce the amount of spending over a 10 year period by 7.5 trillion dollars. This plan provides the framework necessary for balancing the budget while maintaining spending regulations for future members of government. This plan has not gotten the attention it needs.

The bottom line is this: We are traveling down a path which is deeply rooted with opposition to our founding fathers and the Constitution of the United States. Both sides need to stop playing politics and address the very serious issues at hand. In addition, those people on the Hill who live with the delusion that they know more then the American people therefore they need to do all the thinking for them, need to wake up! It is about time they realize they were put there by the people, for the people, and they are accountable to the people.

Islam and Violence

Qur'anIf you believe that Islam is the religion of peace, which professes love, equality, and respect for women please read on and see if you hold the same mindset when you finish. Truly knowing and understanding the Qur’an, along with a clear concise knowledge about shariah law, current events, as well as history, are the beginning to truly understanding Islam. You don’t get to hear too much about Islam because people are too afraid to talk out about Muslims for fear of offending them. . But in the Qur’an Jews and Christians are considered the “People of the Book” and they are to be dealt accordingly. The Qur’an states, “Fight them “until they pay with willing submission and feel themselves subdued.” (Qur’an 9:29)

Women of Islam are transformed into the 6thcentury, sometimes willingly, with little regard for the historical events that have women have fought for over the course of time so they would have the same rights as men. One day at Costco, not to long ago, here in St. Louis, the one Manchester and Hwy 141, there were two women walking about 10 paces behind the two men they were with, dressed in full berka clothing. It was the sight which resembled an era long since passed, where slaves passively stroll behind their masters, and women, because of the times, were covered pretty much head to toe. Ironically, it is interesting to know that in many Arab countries women live in fear daily, praying they will someday have the same rights women have in this country.

In France a law was passed were women are not allowed to wear the full berka in public. A husband or any male who tries to force his wife to wear the berka will face jail time and fines. Islamic law mandates modesty, however to suggest the berka or even the hijab for that matter, as a definition of modesty is insulting to women everywhere, rather than saying what it really is, which is the need for men to control women.[1] The French have defined new laws in an effort to prevent Islamic ideals, which appear to be spreading like wild fires throughout Europe and other parts of the world. But in an Arab country the contrary occurs: “A Berka Dressed Woman – Islamic Law – A 17-year old girl was sentenced by an Islamic court in the northern state of Zamfara, The girl whose father allegedly forced her to have sex with three men will be flogged for breaking a law against premarital sex. Judge Idris Usman Gusau said the sentence – 180 lashes with a cane – would be carried out on January 27 despite an appeal by the Nigerian government to suspend the punishment. The sentence has prompted an outcry from human rights groups which fear the girl may die.[2]

Ryan Miller has a blog where he discusses his perceptions of Islam. He interviewed a St. Louis woman named Melissa Matos, who is the director of the St. Louis chapter of Council on American-Islamic Relations. In the interview Melissa stated, “When reading the Qur’an, I just didn’t think it could’ve been written by a person. And it made me believe that, ‘Wow, there’s a higher power, and I believe that this higher power chose to explain itself to us through several different prophets. I believed that and I said, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m a Muslim.” [3] It would seem as though Melissa may be a little confused about the author of the Qur’an, among other things. It is really important for people to understand what is written in the Qur’an and how it relates to Islam.

In an articled titled, “Afghan Muslim Throws Wife, Daughter Out of St. Louis Window” the author states, “On October 18, 2008 it was reported “Man throws wife, daughter out window in south St. Louis.”[4] — Police said late Saturday afternoon a 51-year-old man living with his family in a second floor apartment threw his wife and their 13-year-old daughter out the window. The second floor apartment, located across the street from the Bevo Mill restaurant in south St. Louis, is nearly 17-feet above the sidewalk. The woman and her daughter are in stable condition. A witness said the mother seemed almost in shock and the daughter was bleeding profusely. The family is from Afghanistan and police said the father spoke little or no English. Other family members acted as interpreters.”[5] The “Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great.” — Qur’an 4:34

A manual of Islamic law, certified by Al-Azhar as a reliable guide to Sunni orthodoxy, says that “retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right.” However, “not subject to retaliation” is “a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring’s offspring.” (Umdat al-Salik o1.1-2)[6]

It is important to understand Islam is not just a religion, it is way of life. The Qur’an is very clear in the way it defines men and women and their roles, along with anyone who is not Islamic and refuses to convert. Muslim men not only accept the demeaning way women are treated, they may even take part in the abuse, murder, and control of their Muslim brothers and sisters. Islam instills fear and through fear allows control. Woman, abuse, and violence are words that in Islam are almost synonymous with one another. Women are considered chattel property therefore they don’t have any rights, but the violence is not always limited to women. In many Arab countries the belief that every human being has an inherent right to be treated with dignity and respect is non-existent; it is not what they believe. Islam promotes the vilest, demeaning, practices which are so horrifying we just don’t talk about them. But the reality is this: women of Islam undergo horrific ordeals such as female genital mutilation, stoning, beheading, and beatings all of which are protected rights of men according to the Qur’an and supported with shariah law.

Author Julia Duin discusses Muslim women, she states, “Many Muslim women in North America live in a constant state of fear, frightened that they or their children could be deported if they speak out, said Salma Abugideiri, a family counselor from Reston. Often their husbands monitor every move they make, down to whom they talk with on the phone and who they visit.”[7]

In another article the author states, “She was an accomplished, professional woman, in her late thirties, a wife, and a mother. But her husband beat her, terribly, and for a long time. Finally, after much suffering, she worked up the courage to leave him. That’s when; acting on his own, he killed her. I know: All the major Muslim organizations, and the mainstream media, continually say that these deaths are examples of domestic violence. They say that domestic violence is a plague that afflicts women of all cultures and religions and which has nothing to do with Islam. And yet, these very organizations say the exact same thing when young teenagers like Palestina Isa in St Louis, (1989) Aqsa Parvez in Toronto (2007) and Sarah and Amina Said in Dallas, (2008) or when young woman in their twenties like Sandeela Kanwal of Atlanta (2008) are murdered by their fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, and male cousins.”[8]

“Don’t kill me, don’t kill me,” she said, according to the man who wanted to remain anonymous. A few minutes later, more than 50 men threw stones. The stoning of 13-year-old Aisha Ibrahim Duhulow in Somalia in October 27, 2008 is another example of what happens under Islam. Aisha was raped and when she reported it she was stoned to death in front of thousands of people who watched and did nothing to help her.[9] Read the article. Decide for yourself; learn about Islam. Does the Qur’an promote violence? Is it that the Koran (in Sura 4:34) permits wife beating? Think about it.
