Democrat: We Went ‘Too Far’ During Kavanaugh Hearings

by Evie Fordham

Democratic Arizona Rep. Tom O’Halleran said Monday that Democrats went “too far” during the confirmation hearings for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

The Democrats, I thought, went a little bit too far,” O’Halleran said in an interview with Arizona PBS. “We’re supposed to ask probing questions.”

“I don’t like it, I never did like it when people got up there and pontificated time and time again about their position,” he continued. “This is supposed to be about a discussion back and forth between you and the nominee.”

O’Halleran’s statement comes just a week after a poll showed that roughly 49 percent of Arizona likely voters wanted Kavanaugh confirmed compared with 42 percent opposing, according to The Arizona Republic.

Approximately 50 percent of Arizona’s large Independent voter base supported Kavanaugh’s confirmation, reported The Arizona Republic.

O’Halleran is running for re-election against Republican Wendy Rogers this November.

“We have to find a way to work together, and this back-and-forth between two parties on a continual basis, that’s part of the reform I want to see,” the Democrat said.

O’Halleran is a former police officer and was a Republican until he switched to Independent in 2014. He then joined the Democratic Party in 2016 and took office representing Arizona’s 1st Congressional District in 2017, according to Ballotpedia.

Real Clear Politicsranks O’Halleran and Rogers’s race as “Leans Democrat.”

  1. Well now I see it. The long term fruits the progressives will glean from this latest Democrat insane display. In the early 70s there was supposedly a mass migration of Democrats to the Republican party because of the direction the Democrat party was going. Now we have the insanity of lies deceit and trickey before us and “decent” democrats are going to become republicans.

Once again the Republican party will be diluted with leftist socialist big government ideals and we will have to work like kidney’s to clean these leftist progressive ideas out of the party platform! Today we typically call those former Democrats NeoCons; New conservatives.

I think it was Mark Twain who pointed out that there was nothing worse than something “reformed”.

  2. Only the innocent would believe that either political party has more than a hint of ‘purity’. Practically all of the Democrats have been pirated by Leftist/Socialist…..and the Republicans have a large count of holier than thou Conservatives…..then we have the Independents who have become disillusioned and can’t decide which party is the worst and removed themselves away from commitment to either.

There are GOOD, loyal Patriots in all three groups….that want our Constitution to be our Rule of Law, Order and Freedoms. These are the informed and recognize political speak when they hear it….and Tom O’Halleran’s words above are just that….baloney.
