Koch Bros: Protections for Dreamers ‘Right Thing to Do’

Libertarian activists David and Charles Koch’s political network is launching a campaign to push for legal protections for DREAMers and they’re doing it all wrong.

“Today, The LIBRE Initiative and Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce announced a national broadcast, cable and targeted digital ad campaign calling on bipartisan congressional leaders to take action on a permanent solution that would provide certainty for Dreamers, who were brought to the United States as children and face an uncertain future,” Freedom Partners said in a statement.

The LIBRE initiative and Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce are partnering on the ad buy and hope to reinvigorate the debate which has all but disappeared from public view.

“Achieving a permanent solution for Dreamers is simply the right thing to do – these are people who know this country as their only home. Both Democrats and Republicans have expressed their commitment to a resolution, and the recent proposal that provides permanency for Dreamers and $25 billion in border security is one that President Trump and Congress should take,” James Davis, executive vice president of Freedom Partners, said in a statement.

Providing permanent protected status for all DREAMers while only securing $25 billion for the border will have only one outcome: another influx of illegal aliens who will expect to be excused for circumventing the legal immigration process.

President Trump laid out four ‘pillars’ that set the requirements for any deal on DREAMers: Fully fund the wall, fully fund the border patrol, end chain migration and end the visa lottery. The Koch proposal falls short of every single requirement. In return for awarding status to all DREAMers, $25 billion will go to some unclear definition of “border security.” That’s not enough to fund the entire wall, increase the number of border protection agents and improve surveillance capabilities as CBP has requested. The Koch push doesn’t even mention chain migration or the visa lottery.

The ad, “What Are We Waiting For?”, features globalist presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and George Bush talking about immigrants. Then, the video shows images of children holding American flags while a voiceover pushes for immigration changes.

“There is a bipartisan way forward on immigration,” a woman’s voice says. “that offers a permanent solution for our DREAMers and a stronger border.”

“What are we waiting for,” she adds then concludes with “certainty for DREAMers and security for everyone.”

The LIBRE Initiative, according to its website, is a “non-partisan, non-profit grassroots organization that advances the principles and values of economic freedom to empower the U.S. Hispanic community so it can thrive and contribute to a more prosperous America.”

The LIBRE Initiative has already hosted numerous immigration-themed grassroots events to inform and activate communities in favor of a Dreamer solution.

Freedom Partners is a non-profit, non-partisan, 501(c)(6) chamber of commerce located in Arlington, Virginia.  Their members “are a diverse group of local leaders, dedicated citizens and successful entrepreneurs, many of whom have achieved the American Dream from very modest beginnings,” according to thier website. The group promotes policies it believes will help “American families can get ahead and American businesses of every size can grow and create new opportunities and innovations.”

  1. The Koch bros. are no more than a coupla simpy milkmaids, their bubbled lives protected by armed security and electrified gates. They are untouched by the issues of the day yet are quick to protect miscreants. Wonder just how they would fare if they had to deal directly with real life issues that Americans face daily.
