Nikki Haley’s Long Road Back

I think [Nikki Haley’s] one of our better surrogates, so I hope she stays in. I hope she does well tomorrow [in the GOP South Carolina primary]— at least, well enough.

Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom of California

GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley said in a new interview that all of former President Trump’s court cases should be “dealt with” before voters go to the polls in November.

Axios, March 1, 2024

Many people saw a great future for Nikki Haley in the Republican Party.  She had every right to challenge Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nomination over the past months.  Her challenge could even have been useful by exposing weaknesses in Trump’s campaign and helping him to articulate his message better.  She has every right to extend the good fight even past the point when she thinks she can win.  She has a right to make her case.  She might have even made a good case that she should be chosen to be the VP or for some other high position in the new Trump administration.  Unfortunately, the way she conducted her campaign, by using Democrat Party talking points, e.g., the false “Trump chaos” narrative, and endorsing the Democrat’s disgraceful and clownish use of lawfare to weaken or destroy Trump, was wrong.

It is bad enough that the unhinged Trump Derangement Syndrome Democrats and what passes for our “news” media should support that kind of lawfare to “win” elections.  Many legal scholars, including committed liberals and Obama supporters like Alan Dershowitz and Jonathan Turley, have pointed out all the problems with these trumped-up legal cases.  Longtime liberal feminist Dr. Naomi Wolf apologized to conservatives after watching Tucker Carlson’s videos of what really happened on Jan. 6th, 2021, for believing so many lies told to her by the “news” media about the Capitol riot.  Former rising star in the Democrat Party and presidential candidate in 2016, Tulsi Gabbard, has called out the obvious misuse of government power to take down Biden’s chief political opponent, Donald Trump.   All of these indictments have effectively collapsed, some turning into outright circuses, which does not mean that a partisan jury will not unjustly convict Trump in a heavily Democrat district.

The fact is that many of the partisan Democrat DA’s bringing these charges and the judges hearing them more resemble clownish characters on a “soap opera” rather than serious DAs and judges.  Jack Smith’s political prosecution of Donald Trump appears to be blowing up in Democrat faces.  Not surprisingly, Smith discouraged the FBI investigation Hillary Clinton in 2016.  All of these indictments, including the one involving Trump’s Mar-a-Lago compound in Palm Beach, are made in heavily Democrat districts where the hatred ginned up against Trump by the Democrats and the “news” media is so great that Trump has no chance of a fair trial.  A New York jury has found Trump liable for sexual assault of E. Jean Carroll and fined him a ridiculous $83 million even though she had already years ago freely told Vox that Trump had not committed any crime against her.  Carroll had also told Anderson Cooper that most people think rape is sexy and stated that if she lived in New York, she would be “dating” 16 people.  Further, Carroll laughingly told Rachel Maddow on one of Maddow’s regular laughing and giggling sessions, that she is going to buy Rachel a condo and take her shopping for a new wardrobe with the money.   Judge Engoron of heavily Democrat New York has fined Trump $354 million for a victimless business practices in New York.  The banks involved all did their own due diligence on the evaluations, were all paid back, said they wanted to do business with Trump, and said there were no victims.

This warfare began as soon as Trump came down the escalator in 2015 with the Russian Collusion hoax started by the fake Russia dossier purchased by Hillary Clinton and the DNC to cheat the American people out of a fair election.  That started the “news media’s” “the walls are closing in [on Trump]” hoax.  This was soon followed by one hoax after another (all documented here in precise language), the “Trump said all Mexicans are rapists and drug traffickers” hoax, the “Trump said ‘Mexicans are animals hoax,’” the “Trump is anti-immigrant” hoax, the “Trump derided people from Haiti and Africa” hoax, the “Trump admitted he grabs women by the p***y” hoax, the “Trump called the Coronavirus a hoax” hoax, the “Trump told people to inject bleach to kill the Coronavirus” hoax, the “Trump has never condemned White Supremacists” hoax, the “Trump pressured Georgia officials to create votes for him in 2020” hoax, the “Trump supported the Iraq war” hoax, etc.  This and many other Democrat/media hoaxes continue to the present day, the “Trump admitted he will seek revenge on his political opponents if re-elected in 2024” hoax, the “Trump admits he wants to be a dictator if re-elected in 2024” hoax, the “Trump said he will let Russia invade NATO if re-elected” hoax, the “Trump used Hitlerian racist language about immigrants poisoning the blood of America” hoax and so on. Trump was explicitly talking about things like the recent measles outbreak at a Chicago migrant shelter. As Harvard-trained professor and psychologist Jordan Peterson puts it, there is no political figure in modern times, with the possible exception of Richard Nixon, that has been more unfairly vilified than Donald Trump.  Haley does not appear to have taken any of this into account.  Indeed, Gavin Newsome has pointed out that Haley is effectively working for the Democrats.

All Republicans, even those who, for whatever reason, correct or incorrect, dislike Trump should see that trying to benefit politically from these kinds of tactics means the end of fair elections on the United States for the foreseeable future.  One can bet that when this lawfare is directed against her or one of her close compatriots, that is, when she becomes a real threat, like Donald Trump, to the Democrats, she will suddenly grasp that this kind of lawfare tactic is completely unjustified.

Haley has now stated blandly that she will vote for Trump in November because Biden is a “catastrophe”.  Glad that she noticed.  Bill Barr thinks a second Biden term will be a “national suicide”.  Hopefully, that will help focus minds.  However, Haley now needs to come out with a full-throated endorsement of Trump and an unambiguous condemnation of the Democrat’s disgraceful never-ending anti-Democratic series of hoaxes and “lawfare” against Donald Trump.

  1. I agree completely with the writer’s review of Haley’s objections to Trump and her subsequent “endorsement.” However, I also believe that Haley was and is an insignificant player in our national political horror show. Trump Derangement Syndrome displays a moral rot in the political class that is mind boggling. But especially troubling is that many of those with TDS are actually coddling the pro-HAMAS protestors. TDS is actually converging with HAMAS. Many were shocked at Hillary’s involvement in the Benghazi debacle and the death of our ambassador at the hands of Libyan maniacs. Now, the post-Obama Dems have taken a deeper step into the doo-doo by giving credence to the Hamasians. Haley was our Ambassador to the UN. Why isn’t she speaking about and focusing on this Obiden policy?!
