Our Infrastructure is Broken

The Biden administration has passed some huge spending bills in two years, and in the thousands of pages accounting for trillions of dollars were many line items that addressed the infrastructure. We had a $1.2 Trillion package in 2021 labeled the Infrastructure Bill and a $1.7 Trillion Omnibus Bill passed in 2022. The Inflation Reduction Bill passed in 2022 has a sticker price of $500 Billion, but many experts say the actual cost will exceed $1 Trillion. Each of these bills included infrastructure expenditures, but instead of seeing progress, we are experiencing further breakdowns. Our country is showing tremendous aging signs, and we must pick up the pace to patch it back together.

The breakdown is on two levels, technical and physical. Instead of addressing the obvious concerns, this administration focuses on internet access for all and green energy initiatives. As they push to eliminate gas vehicles and gas stoves, little is done to bolster our electrical grid. We see blackouts and scheduled brownouts in states like California while at the same time banning permits for new gas filling stations. New York has banned gas appliances in all new construction but is doing nothing to address the increased demand for electricity created by the state.

We saw last fall the shortfalls of our shipping docks to efficiently move goods from ship to truck. The solution by Pete Buttigieg was to move waiting ships out deeper to sea so they could not be seen. Out of sight, out of mind, problem solved by Mayor Pete. The administration thought that increasing the operating hours of the ports to 24/7 would solve the problem, but truck drivers wanted nothing to do with pickups in the middle of the night. Last week, Southwest Airlines had a breakdown in its computer system, causing thousands of canceled flights. Buttigieg was quick to condemn Southwest for not upgrading its systems. This week, the FAA grounded every flight in the country for over four hours because of a computer system meltdown. Who will Buttigieg point the finger at this time? Himself!

Buttigieg has been in the news consistently since January of 2021. We should not even know who the Secretary of Transportation is but between his malfeasance on the job, his many leaves and vacations, and his abuse of private jets for travel, he has been front and center. When the Mayor of South Bend, his nickname was “Pothole Pete” because he could not even manage the road conditions in a mid-sized city. So let’s make him Secretary of Transportation. If not for Mayorkas, Pete Buttigieg would be the poster child for the Biden Administration’s Incompetence. If straight, he’d be gone but gay; he is untouchable.

There have been so many examples of the Biden Administration managing from behind that it is obvious there is no strategy for proactively improving our infrastructure. It started on day one when Biden declared war on oil and gas and has progressed with every wrong decision made, not on sound thinking, but on assuaging the green energy and climate change crowds. This way of governing is not working for Americans; you can feel the resistance growing stronger.

The change in attitude toward Biden is palpable. This week’s incidents with discovered classified documents in Biden’s offices and residences and the money trail from China becoming more evident, this Presidency is on the precipice of collapse. The media is backing off of its support for the faltering President. The fact that Kamala Harris is waiting on deck may be Biden’s saving grace. Maybe he wasn’t so crazy picking her after all!

Ya gotta give em some time.
It takes quite a long time for the construction workers to walk from central America, and when they do get to the border, the foot traffic is so heavy that it takes weeks to get across.

  2. Biden and his administration are managing from behind. Behind a shield that protects them no matter how much damage they do. But with this classified documents find I’m thinking that shield will be pulled away very soon. At least from Biden. ‘Bout time.
