Biden To Form Global Coalition Against Fentanyl

Secretary of State Antony Blinken will host a meeting Friday with representatives from 84 countries to discuss efforts to disrupt the global supply chains of illicit Fentanyl. This meeting is useless without the inclusion of an 85th country, China. There is no indication China intends to participate despite the country being the source of precursor chemicals used by the cartels in Mexico to make the synthetic drug.

Blinken visited China in June and had the opportunity to broach the subject of illegal Fentanyl with leaders of China but could not muster the courage to address the topic. Apparently, 100,000 dead Americans in the 18-45-year-old range is not important enough to discuss with the country we know is the primary source for the killer drug.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) labeled China as “the primary source of fentanyl and fentanyl-related substances trafficked through international mail and express consignment operations environment, as well as the main source for all fentanyl-related substances trafficked into the United States,” in a 2020 intelligence report.

How could this not have already been a priority of this administration? Biden has been in office for thirty months, and we probably have lost 250,000 young people to Fentanyl poisoning in that time, but now that his reelection bid is underway, he has to project the image of a problem solver. But just like his claim that gas prices and inflation are falling, he caused the problems with lousy policies. His lack of concern for Border security and being in the pocket of China has prevented him from addressing Fentanyl’s attack on America.

This epidemic will not be solved with a summit chaired by Antony “Feckless” Blinken, and the absence of China from the talks is proof. This issue needs law enforcement or the military to fight back the flow of drugs or destroy the Cartel labs where the product is manufactured. This flow of drugs should be treated the same as a terrorist attack. If the Taliban entered the country and killed 100,000, I trust we would retaliate. The same can be said for the Cartels.

The illegal drug trade is evolving, and Fentanyl is being replaced with carfentanyl. Carfentanyl is a synthetic opioid much more potent than Fentanyl. Fentanyl is estimated to be 25–50 times stronger than heroin and 50–100 times stronger than morphine. About 2–3 milligrams of Fentanyl can be lethal. That’s roughly the size of 5–7 grains of salt. Carfentanyl, however, is estimated to be 100 times stronger than Fentanyl or 10,000 times more potent than morphine. As little as .00002 grams can kill a person.

We have nobody in this administration strong enough to tackle this drug invasion. Garland and Mayorkas should be leading the charge, but they prove at every opportunity they are ineffective. Yellen is in China this weekend, but there is no way she will have the cajones to call out China on their part in the Fentanyl crisis. She is too busy repeatedly bowing to her Chinese counterpart to broach this sensitive issue. Biden should take to the podium, call out China, and tell the American people that he will protect them at the Southern Border and tell Xi the drug traffic from China to Mexico ends today.
