Every team needs a closer in their bullpen. The closer is that unique thrower who can come into game-after-game and get the final outs to secure the win. The Yankees had the greatest closer of all time. Mariano Rivera took his spot in the bullpen and waited for the phone to ring that he was needed on the mound. When it did, he usually got the job done. He was cool, efficient, and damn good at his job.
The Democrats are searching for someone to rescue this dumpster fire set by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Joe Biden will never be able to run for re-election. The way he is declining in the polls and with his mental acuity, he will be one and done if he can even make it through four years.
Kamala Harris is toxic. She has let the Biden team and the party down. They believed that Biden would be a placeholder and turn the Presidency over to Harris. That cannot happen. She is never going to sit behind the resolute desk.
The Democrats may be turning to the most improbable individual to be their closer. In this case, it would be an unproven rookie to take the ball. There are two outs, top of the ninth, home team is up by one, and the call goes out for Pete Buttigieg, Mayor Pete, Mom. You cannot make this stuff up. If I had suggested this lunacy a month ago, my blog would have been shut down. That is how desperate the Democrats are three years out from the election.
The Biden administration is finished. Joe Biden claimed this week that he would seek re-election in 2024. He had to say that. No President would ever put themselves in a lame-duck status before the first year of their term was in the books. Nobody believes him, and that is why a Plan B has to be devised. It will be a complex move to get a sitting President and Vice President to bow out to allow a compromise candidate to run. Getting Biden to retire will be easy. Getting Kamala to step down will be near impossible. There is nothing to offer her. Her political career is over.
Why Mayor Pete? I have not a clue. A mayor of a small city in the mid-west. No actual political experience. Being the first openly gay member of a cabinet will only buy so many votes. Does the Democrat party think they can groom this individual in three years? Doubtful. If he were Secretary of State, maybe, but Secretary of Transportation will carry no weight. The Dems are in a box, sealed with duct tape. There is no solution to their predicament. They deserve where they are.
This Candidate du Jour is driven by very nervous donors. People like Soros, Bloomberg, Zuckerberg, and Bezos see their Democrat machine breaking down. The wheels are coming off. Their grand plan of 2020 displaced Trump, but the plan had a short half-life. They never dreamed this team of Biden/Harris would be such a disaster. It appears the Plan B might be to float options, the first being Buttigieg, and see if someone resonates with the base. I can’t wait for the Special of the Day to be Hillary!
