Watch: Trump touts tax reform at Missouri event

President Donald Trump on Wednesday will speak about tax reform to an invitation-only crowd of about 1,000 people in St. Charles, Missouri.

The president’s speech is expected to “emphasize the need for tax relief for the American economy,” according to an administration official.

“Missouri is a great place to go to talk about putting American workers on a level playing field in a 21st-century economy” by lowering the corporate tax to be more competitive with lower-tax foreign competitors, said the official. “Missouri is exactly the kind of Heartland Midwestern state that has suffered in recent decades” from high business taxes, he said.

The event, attended by members of the Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Business, is closed to the general public and Trump’s comments are expected to start at 2:30 p.m. CST.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed their version of tax reform before Thanksgiving and the Senate is expected to vote on its version this week.
