Latest casualty in The War on Statues? Honest Abe

An Abraham Lincoln statue was vandalized as the left’s war on statues spirals out of their control.

A Chicago area alderman posted to Facebook this image of an Abraham Lincoln bust located in the 15th ward. The statue had been damaged by fire.

“What an absolute disgraceful act of vandalism. This bust of Abraham Lincoln, erected by Phil Bloomquist on August 31, 1926, was damaged & burned,” Mr. Lopez posted. “If anyone has any information regarding this act, please contact the police or my office immediately.”

Abraham Lincoln joins George Washington as a casualty in a nonsensical war on historical figures. No longer is it just Confederate statues, now it’s any white guy from American history.

Earlier, a pastor in Chicago called for the removal of George Washington’s statue and the renaming of Washington Park and Jackson Park.

This isn’t about slavery. It’s not even about race. It’s about the negation of our history in order to transition the country to something less American.

First, they have to rid of us our national identity – our sense of nationalism. Seeing people burn the bust of Abraham Lincoln and call for the removal of George Washington’s statue says they are accomplishing that goal.

The war on statues is escalating.

  1. After having just read the Biography of A Lincoln by Ronald C White Jr., I am saddened by this defacement of Lincoln’s bust. I can only blame this on ignorance
Afte high school, most are set adrift of any organized knowledge gathering. Most of our knowledge comes from The Press and Hollywood. Neither of these sources provide a balance of anything. They are motivated by a narrative that want to direct people instead of respecting them.
    I dread the future!

    1. Our education system in not without blame, but society is at fault to a larger extent. Without the willingness to protect heritage and history, the good and the bad, people become unable to associate with a national identity. Instead, they identify with this sub-group or that and go after anything that does not resonate with their chosen collective.

It goes from “Confederate statues suck” to “all American statues suck” – they are unable to see the difference.
