A Prayer for America

eagle-god-bless-americaMost Merciful Heavenly Father, I come to you now in humble recognition of your greatness, your power, your love for us, and your desire to protect us from satan and those working for him in this world.  I also recognize that this nation as an entity and many who claim to be followers of Your Son, Jesus, have turned away from You and have even demanded that You be eradicated from any public forum.  I am not one of those people and I beg Your forgiveness for any such action that has been taken or supported by those I have voted into public office.  You know that I do my best to vote for people I believe will uphold the founding principles of the nation, seeking to honor the founding fathers and their reliance on You, the Divine Providence referred to in the Declaration of Independence.  I know that our nation has moved far from You and has denigrated Your blessings that have been bestowed on us.  Very often the people I believe will uphold the Constitution and Your Word do not do so and reject You in my name even though I am not personally rejecting You or Your Word.  I also recognize that there have been times in the past when I myself have been part of the problem, seeking my own carnal desires instead of seeking Your face.  I once again repent of those actions, this time in public forums, admitting freely that I once contributed to the falling away.  Once I came to my senses I turned my life around and You have blessed me with a chance to reform my ways and to live my life for Your glory.  I give thanks now and praise You for Your goodness and mercy to me even though I don’t deserve it.  Jesus paid the price for my sins and provided for my healing by suffering the torture of the crown of thorns, the whipping, and ultimately His death on the cross so I could be redeemed and spend eternity with You in Heaven.  I give You praise and thanks for the progress in the recovery from the stroke I suffered.  The original diagnosis that I would not survive the night and the subsequent one that I would be a mental vegetable and permanently paralyzed were proven wrong due to Your plan for my life.  I don’t know what You want me to accomplish but I know the plan requires that I be here to fulfill it and I will do my utmost to honor Your desires for my life.  I hope my efforts so far have been sufficient as I have been trying to make the most of what restoration You have given me so far and I plan to continue making the most of whatever abilities You restore to me in the future.  I remember the dream I had last spring that I woke up one morning totally healed and functioning normally.  While that morning has not yet come I know it will come.

As You know, I end each day with a prayer that the next morning will be the one in my dream and though it hasn’t come but I know it will come, I just don’t know when.  I won’t give up as I know Your Word is true and that it will be honored as long as I don’t give up and as long as I remain in belief.  Some people have laughed at my belief but that doesn’t deter me as I know that You are with me and You will never forsake me nor abandon me.  I am already healed in the Name of Jesus, just waiting on the manifestation of it in my body.  I have already been gifted with 2 glorious miracles and am seeing another one in the steady progress of my healing.  I ask You now for the strength and courage to carry on and to continue bringing You to others by word and by deed, showing Your glory to others in my daily walk.   Your mercy to me has been noticed by others and they see Your goodness and mercy in every labored step I take as I do my best to both show and proclaim the glory and praise You so richly deserve.  I ask that You use this prayer to enrich the lives of others and to bring them Closer to You through my recovery and my prayers for forgiveness for the nation.  I also ask Your protection on our brave military people who face danger every day to fight the forces of satan in far off lands, striving to protect others, and by extension those of us here living safely while they serve on battlefields far away.  Please have mercy on this nation and restore it to the status of “a shining city on a hill”, a light by which all can see the glory and awesomeness of the God of the universe, the Creator of all things.  Help me to shine the light of Your glory for all to see also so I can be an instrument of Your forgiveness to a rebellious nation.  I give You thanks for the results of the election, that You answered the prayers of many Americans to give us a leader who will help restore the nation, and I sincerely hope one who will seek Your guidance as our founding fathers did, diligently seeking Your face in repentance, humility, and faith.  There are millions who are doing their best to honor and glorify You in their everyday lives and I ask for Your mercy to be poured out on all of us in the everlasting name of the King of kings and the Lord of lords, Your only begotten Son, Jesus. Amen.

I submit this in the name of The Most Holy Trinity, in faith, with the responsibility given to me by Almighty God to honor His work and not let it die from neglect.
