Democrats Dare GOP to Vote Against Raising Debt Ceiling

Despite Tim Geithner’s dire warning to Congress that failing to raise the debt ceiling would cause “catastrophic” consequences for our economy, Barney Frank is leading the liberal charge to keep the debt ceiling right where it is.

Don’t get excited, Rep. Frank hasn’t suddenly become fiscally aware.  He’s decided to use the oldest of parliamentary tactics to shame the GOP into doing his bidding – the infamous “double-dog dare”.

The Hill has reported that Mr. Frank, along with other House Democrats, is daring, no, double-dog daring the GOP to raise the debt ceiling without Democrat votes.

..rather than rallying to Obama’s side, House Democrats are remaining aloof. They say it is the GOP’s responsibility to raise the debt ceiling now that Republicans are the ones in charge of the chamber.

“I reject any attempt to shift the responsibility to the minority,” Frank said. “Don’t do us any favors.”

So Barney doesn’t want to shoulder the blame for increasing the amount of money America needs to borrow to fund its ridiculously large government.  What happens if House Republicans blink?

Many programs will have to have budgets cut or be outright de-funded.  For a current year budget issue, social security and medicare would be safe.  Reforming those programs will take a long range plan and Republicans know that.  There are many programs that could be de-funded or discontinued with little impact to the citizenry.  A few come to mind:

  • Health Care Reform
  • Ethanol/Corn subsidies
  • Green energy funding
  • International Assistance
  • Food safety act
  • Congressional salaries and benefits
  • Slash budgets for government offices/bureaus (education, energy, IRS, etc) – do more with less, the rest of America is
  • Sell the massive tracts of government-owned land in the Mid-west to bolster the general fund
  • Re-privatize the college loan program (this time without the subsidy)

I am sure Republican leadership in the House could grow this list substantially – dare ’em Mr. Frank .. just double-dog dare ’em.

Open Letter to Barney Frank on OneUnited

From Sean Bielat for Congress:

Barney Frank for Congress
PO Box 260
Newton, MA 02460

October 8, 2010

Representative Frank,

I appreciate that we’ve now become good pen pals. Since you seem to have developed a new fondness for responding to constituents, I would like to draw your attention to some questions I posed back in August which have yet to be answered. It would also be enlightening to hear your responses to the several questions I posed in my response letter yesterday.

The questions I asked in August involve a matter of public trust. You have admitted to playing a role in helping a failed bank, OneUnited, secure a $12,000,000 taxpayer-funded bailout for which they did not originally qualify. You wrote legislation that allowed OneUnited to “cook the books” and claim more stated capital than they actually had in order to receive a bailout. The Washington Post described the episode this way:

“So a dodgy bank with little going for it except access to powerful members of Congress gets $12 million for no evident public purpose and with little chance taxpayers will ever see that money again. Those responsible insist that, according to prevailing norms in the nation’s capital, they did nothing wrong. Worst of all, they might be telling the truth.”

A number of serious questions about your involvement remain. The public has a right to know:

1. After Rep. Maxine Waters came to you and admitted she was violating Congressional ethics
rules, why did you agree to take over the task of bailing out her husband’s bank for her?

2. By offering to take over the task for her, you implicitly acknowledged in your conversation
with Rep. Maxine Waters that her involvement represented multiple ethics violations. Did you
address the violations directly with her? Did you warn her that she was engaging in illegal and
unethical conduct?

3. Why did you not immediately report Rep. Maxine Waters’ ethical violations (and potentially
criminal conduct) to your party’s leadership and the appropriate authorities?

4. Why did you personally return the phone call of disgraced State Senator Dianne Wilkerson
who has been recently convicted on federal bribery charges?

5. When you spoke with Wilkerson, what did you discuss?

6. When was the decision made to funnel more than $12 million to a failed bank that was
recently cited by federal regulators for poor business practices and executive compensation
abuse?

7. What were the factors that went into the decision to bail out the bank when it clearly did not
qualify for a taxpayer-funded bailout?

8. How long have you known that the bank was owned by Rep. Maxine Waters’ wealthy friends
and campaign donors who used depositor funds to purchase a $6 million beach house and a
Porsche for executives to use?

9. Please describe in detail the due diligence that you and your staff undertook before agreeing
to bail out this bank with hard-earned taxpayer dollars.

10. Given that the requests for your help came from a convicted state legislator and an ethically-challenged Congresswoman, why did you not instruct your office to cease and desist any efforts with regard to the matter?”

I hope your response comes as quick as your last letter. You constituents are waiting.

Sincerely,

Sean Bielat

P.S. You’re answer on how best to save Social Security seems to be “do nothing and hope for the best.” Are you writing these letters because you’re looking for policy advice? If so, feel free to drop by our Newton office any time.

Barney Frank’s Campaign is in Trouble

Bringing back a line from Jack Nicholson in “As Good as it Gets”, is Sean Bielat making Barney Frank “want to be a better man”?  According to Margery Eagan of the Boston Herald – yup!

Margery wrote:

Yesterday I asked him some questions. I was bracing to get hammered by his reply.

This time, though, he didn’t tell me I was asking something dumb. He didn’t get mad. He didn’t lecture me on what I should be asking instead.

Huh, what could be going on?  Well DUH, it’s Sean.  In recent polling Frank holds now less than 50% of likely voters.  While this demostrates a 10 point lead for Frank (48% for Frank and 38% for Bielat), his command of Massachusett’s District 4 is slipping.

But a September 22nd release from the Bielat camp contained a poll of independents that showed a 51% to 34% lead for Bielat over Frank – the widest margin to-date.  Back in July, it was Frank that held a lead with the same group of likely voters.

What happened?  The people have figured out that Barney Frank is a centrally-responsible figure for the current economic collapse.

from boston.com

The pressure to make more loans to minorities (read: to borrowers with weak credit histories) became relentless. Congress passed the Community Reinvestment Act, empowering regulators to punish banks that failed to “meet the credit needs” of “low-income, minority, and distressed neighborhoods.” Lenders responded by loosening their underwriting standards and making increasingly shoddy loans. The two government-chartered mortgage finance firms, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, encouraged this “subprime” lending by authorizing ever more “flexible” criteria by which high-risk borrowers could be qualified for home loans, and then buying up the questionable mortgages that ensued.

Barney Frank spent 2008 and 2009 making statements that it was our Free Market economy that caused the problem.  In fact, he alludes that perhaps Ronald Reagan is to blame.

If that wasn’t enough to turn Massachusetts voters off, this year Frank turned on Fannie and Freddie, the semi-government agencies that he had been protecting all this time.  In an August 2010 interview with Neil Cavuto on Fox Business News, Frank told Neil that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, “..should be abolished”.

Maybe it’s not that hard to see why Sean Bielat is becoming so much more attractive to Massachusetts voters – Barney Frank is blowing it.

Then again, maybe he is just spending too much time discussing an exit strategy.

America’s New Independence Day

November 2nd, 2010 will forever be remembered as a new Independence Day. It will be the day honoring the masses of freedom-loving patriots who will rise up to reclaim their liberty, their constitutional rights, and their right to worship God according to the dictates of their own consciences. Declaration of IndependenceIt will live on forever in our hearts as the day when latter-day heroes, awakened from their slumber by the machinations of the forces of evil, fought an epic battle and emerged victorious. Bruised, yes; battered, yes; bloodied, yes, and yet despite all odds, the great American people will see through the propaganda of the Obama regime, defy the intimidation tactics of the New Black Panther Party and the SEIU, ignore the elitist, statist JournoListers of the Main Stream Media, and storm the polls in a national swell that shall sweep away the absolute rule of their oppressors.

America was founded on the principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It was founded by God-fearing men. The founders recognized the hand of the Almighty in the creation of the United States of America. And modern day patriots remain true to the principles upon which this country was founded. It will be these patriots who will save The United States from its enemies, both foreign and domestic.

Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. “Mankind.” That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can’t be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it’s fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom… Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution… but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: “We will not go quietly into the night!” We will not vanish without a fight! We’re going to live on! We’re going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day! – President Thomas Whitmore (from the movie Independence Day)

Independence Day Speech

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! – Isaiah 5:20

The opposing forces in this war of ideology transcend the labels of Democrats and Republicans. This is no less than a war of good versus evil. It is a war for the souls of men. Akin to the plight of patriots during the War of Independence, there are enemy sympathizers among us. Those once known as loyalists – because of their loyalty to the British Crown – have been replaced by moderates, RINOs, political party elites, special interests, labor unions, and behind the scenes political operatives.  The propaganda, manipulations, and machinations of the forces of darkness are attempting to redefine what is good – claiming it to be evil. They know that they will win this war if they can confuse us by turning morality on its head. They know they can win if they can convince us that a man in the White House is our Messiah. They know that if they can sell us on false prophets such as Cass Sunstein, Valerie Jarrett, Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Harry Belafonte and Van Jones, that they will win. They know that if they can replace our true heroes such as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln with the likes of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Steny Hoyer, and Barbara Boxer, that they will win. With craftiness, cunning, and hearts of stone, they demonize our heroes and patriotic leaders such as Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, and Rush Limbaugh. They even have the audacity to demonize God himself. They are without morals. They are without honor. They are ruthless. They are corrupt. They are the very definition of evil. That is the nature of our enemies. They are powerful. They are pervasive, and they are entrenched. Yet, they will fail.

Why, you ask? – Because we surround them. And for all the danger the Obama Administration represents to freedom, it has been a blessing in disguise. The arrogance, ineptitude, pride, stupid decisions, and outright corruption of the forces currently in power have awakened the sleeping giant that is the true America. Not since the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor has this sleeping giant stirred from his sleep, arisen, and defeated the enemy. But now the forces of good have awakened and joined the fight.Patriots, such as my friend Jessica Puente-Bradshaw, have arisen out of obscurity and taken on the entrenched elites. Jessica is one of my heroes.  A mother of several young children and burdened with all of what goes into raising these children in righteousness, Jessica recognizes the perils facing America. She came out of obscurity to run as a Republican candidate for Congress representing the 27th District in Texas.

We need a clear plan for change to put our country back on track. We need real tax reform to help revitalize our economy, not federal government health care mandates. We need to help create jobs that put people back to work, not federal government energy mandates on businesses. We need to protect the rule of law when it comes to immigration, not federal government amnesty proposals. – Jessica Puente-Bradshaw

Unfortunately, Jessica did not win her primary election. But she sure did her part in raising the awareness level in Texas to the dangers facing America. And I have a sneaky suspicion that the story of Jessica isn’t over. She’ll be back. Jessica didn’t crave personal power.

Jessica Puente-Bradshaw

Jessica Puente-Bradshaw

She didn’t run for election in a quest for vain glory. No, Jessica did it to save America. She did the right thing for the right reason. And the beauty of it all is that America is now filled with a multitude of people just like Jessica. Though Jessica didn’t win her race, others just like her are winning – and turning the Liberal/RINO elite upside-down. We are winning. The enemy is running scared. They are in full panic mode. The latest conservative victories came in Tuesday’s primaries. Delaware and New York just witnessed conservative patriots win their primary elections – ousting entrenched members of the political elite. Countless more Jessica Puente-Bradshaws are preparing to flood the polls on November 2nd.

Take heart, fellow conservatives. We have joined the battle with the forces of evil. Although they appear to surround us – given all the attention their every word receives in the Main Street Media – the truth of the matter is that we surround them. This is still a center-right country. This is still a God-fearing country. This is still a freedom-loving country. And we will win.

The fight won’t be easy. November 2nd is not the end of the war. It is merely an opening skirmish, now that the forces for good have been roused from their slumber. But we slumber no more. The Silent Majority is no more. We’ve become the Vocal Majority – thanks to Jessica Puente-Bradshaw and millions of others just like her. Jessica, I salute you! You are ahead of the curve and I am proud to call you my friend.

Dodd-Frank: A Nightmare On So Many Levels

Barney FrankSenators Barney Frank and Chris Dodd put together yet another progressive nightmare for our marginally free-market system. Granted the thought of those two alone in a dark corner is nausea-inducing, that’s not where I’m going. The Dodd-Frank bill, otherwise known as the “Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act” neither reforms Wall Street nor protects consumers (who should really need no protection from anyone but themselves).

This is yet one more instance of self-aggrandizing, big-government bureaucracy all wound together to hopefully get another pair of party-line idiots re-elected. It’s populist in nature but elitist in execution.

Chriss DoddOne of the less analyzed provisions may very well serve to push jobs oversees – yeah, really. The problem begins in the quizzically-utilized math in the bill. Section 953(b) of this monstrous affront to free-markets:

    (A) the median of the annual total compensation of all employees of the issuer, except the chief executive officer (or any equivalent position) of the issuer;

    (B) the annual total compensation of the chief executive officer (or any equivalent position) of the issuer; and

    (C) the ratio of the amount described in subparagraph (A) to the amount described in subparagraph (B).

Basically, the average pay of all workers in a company, the wage of the CEO/President and a ratio comparing the two.

The intent of this bill is to show income inequality, which is only so great because of liberal initiatives.  Unfortunately, it will cause more inequality, but their stats will look better.

Understand the mindset of the American business leader.  If this regulation is truly enforced, the only course of action for them to take is to make sure this ratio does not end up higher than their competitors.  To do that, they will simply lay-off every single one of their lowest wage earners.  They will then outsource that work (the easiest to outsource by far) to Mexico (take a gander at what GM is doing with your bail-out money), China, or India.

This also means those companies won’t have to deal with oppressive health care mandates, ridiculous corporate taxes or whatever new populist garbage comes out of Washington.   You have nothing to worry about, heck, 1 in 6 Americans rely on the government for income as it is .. this will just add a few million more.

Franking Privileges

Polar CougHey, Barry! Does your Beano Cook? Huh? You don’t understand the question? Well, let me put it to you another way. Why does Barney get unlimited Franking privileges? And why doesn’t he have to give up the cheap satisfaction of the radical pose for the deep satisfaction of the radical ends? Is that why you kept voting pleasant all those years? And how come you light up your Hairy Reid but consistently end up burning the Bush? Think you’re Moses? Well, of course, your Pharaohness, there certainly are similarities. Moses floated down the Nile and you most certainly are also in denial. And then there’s the money thing, too. Egyptus? Hell, you gyptus! Crap, you plan to keep on gypting us From Here To Eternity (which explains your obsession with Hawaii, doesn’t it!)

But, I digress. I think I have you figured out. As far as your perverted quest for power is concerned, if Genghis Kahn, yes, you most certainly Kahn too! Kenya see it now? Yeah, I know, I know. The pain in Spain flies mainly on your plane. But now you’re the one who’s digressing. Let’s get back to the point. You’re hurting us. What? Well of course it hurts! We’re getting screwed by a Jackass! Oh right, we’ll all just take two pain pills and call you in the morning. Yes, it’s true. You are a cereal killer. Thanks to you, we’re the only banana republic that has to import its bananas. So, you see, we don’t want to call you in the morning. We’re all staring at a leveraged bowl of Captain Kickass, minus the bananas, and just can’t get all excited about picking up the phone and giving you a ring. My apologies to your nose, but rings cost money, don’t cha’ know? At least Carter knew whose ass to kick – poor rabbit.

So, here we find ourselves, 19 months into the making of the Foundation of your Empire, and what are the major news items of the day? Well, let’s see…there’s your unbridled enthusiasm for building a mosque at Ground Zero (Go figure, the site is named after you.). And, of course, Blago’s jury is well-hung – unlike you, according to Sarah Palin. But who needs to ask Palin’s opinion when Jesse Jackson already offered a while back to help you sing a couple of octaves higher?  Yeah, I heard about the squirrel too. But, you know? It never would have starved to death if you hadn’t let it run up your leg. Your alleged manhoodlessness is a national joke, Barry. Wasn’t it about two years ago when we all heard the rumor that if Hillary Clinton gave you one of her acorns, you’d both have two? Which brings us to the mom jeans – whose mom? And who’s genes? And that tingle Chris Matthews had down his leg? Don’t worry about it. It dried up. On the bright side, Vera Baker notwithstanding, at least you seem to have learned from Bill Clinton to keep your rod out of your staff…which brings us right back to David Axelrod. Not a bad name for a cheesy little squirt who gives us the entire shaft. Well-oiled? 10-40, Good Buddy!

Anyway, back to the news. Seems Charlie Wrangle and Maxipad Waters have no ethics. “Ethics? We don’t need no stinkin’ ethics!  Besides, it’s Bush’s fault, that friggin’ Cracka”. Would you like some cheese on that Cracka, Maxine? Or, are you on a diet and want to cut the cheese? Either way, Maxine stinks, Barry, and you know it. Reminds me of a song I learned as a young Cracka, Barry. Listen up while I sing you the tune…

Well, I stuck my head in a little skunk’s hole.
And that little skunk said, “Well, bless my soul!”
“Take it out, take it out, take it out, take it out…
Remove it!”

Well, I didn’t take it out, and I didn’t take it out.
And that little skunk said, “If you don’t take it out…
You’ll wish you had, take it out, take it out…
remove it!”

Pshhhhhhhhh….I removed it!

Pshhhhhhhhh, Barry. That’s the sound of November 2nd, 2010.  You stink. The nation is going to collectively pull your head out of the hole. I won’t water it down for you. To tell you the truth, Maxine stinks. So does Barney’s Frank. And Axel’s rod. And he ain’t heavy, he’s my Hairy Reid.

Believe it or not, I sympathize with your situation. Let’s look at it objectively. You’ve really got it bad. Your Chief of Staff has a history of sending dead fish to people in the mail. Gives a whole new meaning to snail mail – it just might be! And then there’s your personal assistant, Valerie Jarrett, the local slum lord. And Baghdad Bob…geez, what were you drinking the day you hired that gas bag? I bet his Beano doesn’t Cook, either. And let’s not forget your love child, Nancy Pelosi. You can read about her in the Bible – in Genesis, to be precise. God took a rib from Adam and made the first loudspeaker.  That’s why her face is so tight – loudspeakers don’t work unless the woofer is uptight, out-of-sight, and in the groove.

So what’s your plan to get out of this mess, Barry? Go on vacation? Golf? Spend other people’s money? I gotta tell you, buddy. You’re in it too deep.  George Sore Ass can’t save you this time. You are such a shallow thinker that your mental masturbation ain’t going to buy you love. I admit it was a stroke of genius to redirect NASA to kiss up to Islam, but really, all you are going to do is end up with a bad case of peegret. That’s what happens when you split the bar without first dumping the lemonade. Next time try vodka – an Absolut Zero. That’s your only hope. You’re not THE ONE. All you are is the Zero. Absolut Zero.  Cheers.

Barney Frank Present When Partner Arrested for Pot

Foxnews.com published an article discussing the Democratic Congressman’s knowledge of his partner’s drug possession.  The controversy is really around Frank’s motivation for sponsoring the legalization of the drug that his partner was arrested for growing and possessing.  Then again, why did the charges all seem to disappear?

“Rep. Barney Frank admitted Friday that he was sitting on the porch of his partner’s Maine home when police came to arrest his partner for marijuana possession.” [Full Story]
