Tonight on the Dark Side with Kira Davis

5/27/12  Our special guest will be Orange County Republican and candidate for county supervisor Deborah Pauly. Ms. Pauly is at the center of a heated controversy within the OCGOP as she was voted out of her post as committee vice-chair earlier in the week. Is this a case of the tea party candidate versus the establishment?

Also, we can’t NOT talk about Meghan McCain…hey, it’s what she would want. And predictions! Join us Sunday night at 10pmEST, 7pm Pacific on the CDNews Network on Blogtalk Radio.

The West Wonders What To Do as the Bodies Pile Up In Bashar Assad’s Syria

Bashar Al Assad, Syrian Dictator and Mass Murderer

As the bodies of women and children stack up in Syria by the hundreds, arm chair pundits wring their hands and wonder what the West can and should do to intervene in that country’s bloody civil war.

A report from MSNBC today says that two more young men were killed near Damascus where thousands of refugees are fleeing a military crackdown, which on Friday killed 109 people, many of whom were women and children.

The story says that one of the men, Riad Mahmoud, 22, was killed as he marched in a protest of 2,000-3,000 people protesting earlier massacres when he was fired upon by officers of a division of secret police. (Why is it, I ask aloud, do repressive regimes always have divisions of secret police that everybody knows about? And why are they always the scummiest people, i.e. Nazi Germany’s S.S.?)

US President Barack Obama

As the conflict comes into its 14th month, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton once again condemned the violence and called for those responsible to be brought to justice. And crickets could be heard chirping as President Obama said – nothing!

The US is sending humanitarian aid to Syrian rebels, but one must wonder if that will be effective and if it will even get to the right place. The conflict of Mogadishu under George Bush Senior and Bill Clinton comes into memory and many in the US do not want the US embroiled into another protracted war in the Middle East.

The Washington Post has a pretty good timeline of events leading up to March of this year, 12 months of escalating violence where peaceful protests lead to unbridled violence by the dictator Assad and his cronies. And the people suffer while the world watches, hands in their pockets. The world is literally whistling past a grave yard.

A leftist blog disguised a credible news source, (what? Which lefty news source is credible or which MSM news source isn’t leftist? Good point. I digress.) Antiwar.com laments that President Obama may back off of earlier promises not to get involved militarily and attempt to coalesce an international effort to oust Assad the Dictator. One must wonder what these anti war people want. World peace is ok and everything but are they happy with brutal evil dictators crushing their own people do death? They put all of the onus of responsibility on the west and President Obama and cast none of the blame at the feet of the brutal evil murdering dictators.

The article, written by John Glaser, speculates that US interference in the conflict would only make it much worse and that the US would be hampered in our efforts by China and Russia. So what does China and Russia gain by mass murder, I wonder?

It is far too unlikely that President Obama will channel the spirit of our beloved Ronald Reagan who bravely stood at the Berlin Wall and demanded its removal, but maybe he could be nudged enough to pull out a Bill Clinton? While the scandal of the Monica Lewinski affair was just coming to fruition, the Clinton’s decided they needed an adequate overseas foreign affairs coup to distract the masses. Fortunately for Bosnia, the Clintons intervened and rescued those people from a murderous genocide of their own.

It’s probably too little too late for Obama. The time for intervention in Syria is past. Barry has no time to sit in smoke filled rooms deciding on war strategy. He has to hit the campaign trail and beat the pulp out of Mitt Romney, depending on the killing of Osama Bin Laden to be the wind that moves his ship. Hopefully, the Amateur’s ship of doom is bound for the rocks of failure and a moderate Mitt Romney comes into the White House next January. He better roll up his sleeves and get ready. The world is a violent place filled with evil and the next president will have his hands full dealing with them.

Kansas Gov. Signs Measure Blocking Foreign Law

Muslim groups are in a frenzy over the measure signed by Kansas Governor Sam Brownback which is meant to stop the state’s courts and government agencies from making decisions based on foreign legal codes. Even though Islamic Sharia Law would most likely fall under the definition of the measure, it is not specifically aimed at it. It instead states that no rulings from administrative agencies or state tribunals can be based on any legal system or foreign law that contradicts the rights of states and the U.S. Constitution.

“This bill should provide protection for Kansas citizens from the application of foreign laws,” said Stephen Gele, spokesman for the American Public Policy Alliance, a Michigan group promoting model legislation similar to the new Kansas law. “The bill does not read, in any way, to be discriminatory against any religion.” According to the Associated Press. However,  the alliance website does state that it wants to protect Americans’ freedoms from foreign laws and legal doctrines, “especially Islamic Shariah Law.”

Muslims organizations including the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) claim they will most likely challenge the law in court because supporters of the law often speak concern about Sharia law specifically. They argue the law could cause discrimination. “If he claims it has nothing to do with Shariah or Islamic law or Muslims, then he wasn’t paying attention.” CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper said of Governor Brownback.

Although there are no known cases of Kansas courts deferring to Sharia law, it would appear they don’t want it to become an issue.  There is a pending case were a man is attempting to divorce his wife and seeing the property be divided in accordance with Sharia law.

House Substitute for SENATE BILL No. 79 will take effect July 1st.

WaPo’s Useless Racism Analysis

Obama lost around 40% of the vote in primaries held in Kentucky, Arkansas and West Virginia.  Of course, The Washington Compost posted a story providing useless and utterly inane analysis surrounding the reasons why the president did so poorly as the incumbent candidate.  Chris Cillizza wrote:

that we know beyond a shadow of a doubt is that Appalachia and portions of the South — particularly those states without large African American populations — have long been hostile to President Obama.

There are any number of data points that make that point plainly.

During the 2008 Democratic presidential primary campaign, Obama lost Kentucky by 35 points and West Virginia by 41(!) points to then Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton even though both states voted late enough in the process that it was already clear Obama would be the nominee.

In the 2008 general election, only five states voted more Republican than they had four years earlier. Those five states were: Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Tennessee and West Virginia. (In Oklahoma and West Virginia, Obama and Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry got the same percentage of the vote but Obama got less raw votes.)

And, since a picture is worth a thousand words, here’s an amazing graphic courtesy of the New York Times that shows the counties that voted more Republican in 2008 than they did in 2004.

I’ll save you some time with the link:

However, it may surprise some liberals that a significant amount of Democrats have conservative leanings, especially in the region Mr. Cillizza is referring to in this post.  Furthermore, Cillizza quotes

Tom Cole, a Republican House Member, dismissed the idea of race as a major factor in opposition to Obama out of hand.

Said Cole:

Obama fares poorly in states like Oklahoma, Kentucky and Arkansas because he has nothing in common with them. They are rural, he is urban. They are populist, he is elitist. And in case anyone hadn’t noticed, they are conservative while he is liberal. That isn’t just true of Republicans in these states. It is true of Democrats as well.

Well, there you have it Chris.  I can say the same for my home state of Pennsylvania, which is aptly described as Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Alabama in-between concerning the political disposition of its electorate.  In a state where Democrats outnumber Republicans by 1.2 million, the PA GOP were able to clinch eleven more courthouses, thus controlling fifty-one  of the sixty-seven counties.  That is up from 40 in 2007.  As Executive Director Mike Barley noted:

Nine of these wins occurred in “blue” counties where Democrats have a registration advantage – Cambria, Carbon, Centre, Clinton, Elk, Lawrence, Mercer, Monroe and Westmoreland…in all of these counties we witnessed Republicans, Independents and even Democrats rejecting Democratic candidates, their big government agenda and President Obama, proving that great Republican candidates can compete and win even in the Democratic counties in the Commonwealth. The story lines are even more intriguing when looking at each race county-by-county and case-by-case. Consider Westmoreland County, where Democrats out-register Republicans 53% to 38%, yet Republicans won the courthouse for the first time in more than 50 years, winning two commissioners and sweeping all of the row offices… in these cases, we see conservative “Reagan Democrats” coming out in droves for Republican candidates. While each county in Pennsylvania is unique, a universal distaste for President Obama’s failed policies was found everywhere and Republicans were successful in large part because we related the ongoing national debates surrounding spending and taxes to issues at the local level.

These rather embarrassing results for the president is not attributed to his race, but his failed record and liberal policies that are destroying the socio-economic health of the country.  The American people are saying “no thanks” to the president’s agenda.  What’s more amusing about Mr. Cillizza’s piece is when he admits that race cannot be gauged in any shape or form.

simply labeling the 42 percent of Kentuckians who supported “uncommitted” over Obama or the 41 percent of Arkansas who backed Tennessee lawyer John Wolfe over the incumbent as “racists” is a major oversimplification.

Untangling or decoupling how people feel about Obama’s race from how they feel about the policies he has pursued in office and his general beliefs about the size and necessity of government is impossible. No poll or election result can divine voters’ motivations.

So why insinuate that racism was a possibility?  Yes, there are some people in America who are racist and will not vote for Obama because of his African-American roots.  However, this is not a new revelation.  And for most of them to be located in the southern and appalachian regions; I’m stunned! Although I’m sure you can find, regrettably, plenty of like minded individuals all over the country.  Think Boston in the 1970s when local schools were desegregated which led to the forced busing fiasco.

In all, for liberals, it is almost unbelievable that people don’t support the president.  It is unbelievable that people don’t support his policies and his far left vision for America.  If you’re against him, you must be racist. That’s their default position to silence the opposition.  However, as demonstrated in key battleground states like Pennsylvania, voters, especially the blue dog, conservative wing of the Democratic Party are beginning to sour on Barry for his failure to get America back on track.  Unemployment has remained above 8% for over thirty-eight months, the national debt has increased by $ 5 trillion dollars, and we’ve ran our third consecutive trillion dollar deficit under this administration. These aren’t things that drive the faithful to the polls.  His record is dismal and the people are calling him out on it. It really isn’t that difficult left wingers.  A study session isn’t needed for everything.

As Obama redefines everything .. the right whiffs at the plate

Some “Constitutionalists” say that “social issues” are not for election years – as if social issues were absent Constitutional basis.

Listening as a Democrat pundit said Thursday that sixty-something percent of Americans “support marriage” but saying so in a way that was intended to purport that the same majority supported gay marriage, the goal of redefining what marriage actually means felt eerily near to coming to fruition. The guest also mentioned that Obama’s recent evolution on gay marriage was a show of support for “marriage”.  Whoever rejects Obama’s push to redefine marriage is now effectively against marriage according to the interviewee.

Semanticism is the tool of the left – redefining terms in a way that is socially, although illogically, acceptable in the hopes of diminishing an institution or idea that is an obstacle to realizing the unicorn-trodden, rainbow-emblazoned progressive stomping ground known as Utopia.

Marriage is the foundation of family. Family is what comes together in times of hardship to weather the storm. If the progressives can dismantle strong families they can create an entirely government dependent culture – one that could never, ever vote them out for the fear of having no one left to take care of them. As the Washington Post printed today.. why bother getting married at all? And if you do, getting divorced may not be as bad as you used to think.

Then there is the contracteption mandate in Obamacare. Obama’s regulatory agency has made an exception that defines who or what is or is not a religious institution when considering the requirement for employers to provide reproductive coverage (a.k.a. contraception) to employees. It dictates which institutions are or are not a church based on how they are ministered to. The definition is narrow, narrow-minded and built to destroy the current understanding of the wall between church and state. It is, as progressives are fond to admit, a nudge – a nudge intended to end another non-governmental safety-net: the church.

Those who would say that this election is not about these issues, but instead about the Constitution confuse me. Marriage is not a power enumerated in the Constitution and is therefor the States’ to handle – so says the tenth amendment. Why wouldn’t staunch Constitutionalists step-up to say that the federal government cannot decide who may or may not get married? The separation of church and state (1st amendment), although bastardized by the left, was intended to prevent exactly the kind of oppressive activity that the Obama administration is undertaking against the Catholic church. Those who purport a firm understanding of our founding document can’t be found to argue these important issues. They are after all “social issues” that they cannot be bothered with. What will happens when those disenfranchised by this nudge are not there to protect the strict Consitutionalists when a different amendment is under attack? Nothing, they’ll simply be the next domino to fall in the progression of liberal oppression.

If this nudge simply redefines what a church is or what is the definition of marriage, what will the next one bring?

These may seem like small things when viewed in a 30-second television sound bite, but they are nibbles – small bites out of the basis of American society intended to bring about a new one – without families, churches, opportunity or freedom.

The real test of a Constitutionalist is not what they do when their own rights are being threatened – but what they do when the rights of someone with whom they disagree are in peril. The redefinitions of marriage and church are exactly those tests by which Conservatives will be judged.

Michelle’s new book is “Gardening as a photo-op”

As if anyone believed that Michelle Obama was going to be caught dead working in a garden or actually writing a book, the Gaurdian’s Emma Keller was obviously disappointed with the First Lady’s attempt at a gardening book.

Michelle Antionette’s new foray into the literary world is entitled “American Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America” and while ill-titled, why bother to write the book at all?

The book is either an afterthought, a forced effort or just a publicity stunt with minimal risk. As Ms. Keller put it “If the first lady’s book lacks soul, it’s because her heart isn’t in it.” Then again, what is her heart in – other than expensive taxpayer-funded vacations, dinners and a large house with lots of servants?

Rumors have been rampant that Mrs. Obama isn’t even all that thrilled with being Mrs. Obama or the the First Lady. Her comments on “finally” being proud of her country only because of her husband’s achievement went further into understanding that narcissism extended further than just the President.

This book has nothing to offer gardeners- current or future. As Emma Keller wrote, “This book is gardening as photo-op and as such it’s a little stomach-churning.”

While The Cat’s Away, Bill Clinton Comes Out To Play

From the “news we simply cannot make up” department, Bill Clinton recently posed in Monaco with two porn stars.  But not just any two porn stars.  As luck would have it, one of them (the one on the right) had recently won sex industry awards for:  “Best New Starlet” and two other awards that aren’t fit to print here. (even their their titles are graphic)

Nothing But the Best for Slick Willie

As you can see, it’s all fun and games for America’s most recently impeached president.

Obama Administration Continues to Force Refineries to Use Imaginary Biofuels

WASHINGTON , May 25, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today denied the American Petroleum Institute’s (API’s) request to eliminate mandates for biofuels that do not exist, and the agency continues to fine refiners for not using them.

“EPA’s mandate is out of touch with reality and forces refiners to pay a penalty for not using imaginary biofuels,” said API Director of Downstream and Industry Operations Bob Greco. “EPA’s unrealistic mandate is effectively an added tax on making gasoline.”

The Clean Air Act requires EPA to determine the mandated volume of cellulosic biofuels each year at “the projected volume available.” However, in 2011 EPA required refineries to use 6.6 million gallons of cellulosic biofuels even though, according to EPA’s own records, none were commercially available. EPA today denied API’s 2011 petition for reconsideration of the mandate and continues to mandate these nonexistent biofuels this year.

“The fact that EPA continues to mandate these biofuels that do not exist is regulatory absurdity and bad public policy,” Greco said.

API represents more than 500 oil and natural gas companies, leaders of a technology-driven industry that supplies most of America’s energy, supports 9.2 million U.S. jobs and 7.7 percent of the U.S. economy, delivers more than $86 million a day in revenue to our government, and, since 2000, has invested more than $2 trillion in U.S. capital projects to advance all forms of energy, including alternatives.

Young Professionals Say More Business Creation, Less Government Solves Unemployment

Generation opportunityWASHINGTON, May 25, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Generation Opportunity’s field team continued their grassroots organizing efforts in North Carolina at BusinessExpo 2012, presented by theGreater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, and the Piedmont Triad Business Showcase, organized by theGreensboro Chamber of Commerce. More than 2,000 young professionals, entrepreneurs, and business leaders attended the event in Raleigh, where Generation Opportunity’s staff met with and listened to hundreds of young adults. In Greensboro, Generation Opportunity sponsored and participated in the region’s largest trade show.

“As a North Carolinian, I can tell you that young people are very concerned about the direction of the state and the country. High unemployment continues to take a toll on their lives, stands in the way of their plans for the future, and also impacts their families and friends,” said Jonathan Bandy, Regional Field Director for Generation Opportunity. “People know that the policies coming out of Washington are denying them opportunities to contribute and fulfill their dreams. It is a real source of pressure, and young people know that we in North Carolina, and across America, can do better – everywhere I go I meet folks that are enthusiastic about getting involved in our efforts.”

Young adults at both events identified record unemployment, the lack of economic opportunity, and high gas prices as the top issues they would most like to see addressed by elected officials. They also cited business expansion, not more government, as one of the most effective solutions to solving the lack of economic opportunity, indicating government spending and regulation is the greatest barrier to economic growth.

Generation Opportunity is continuing its efforts in the Tar Heel State, participating in the 17th annual Speed Street/600 Festival. The three-day event celebrates the May races at Charlotte Motor Speedway and fills the streets of Uptown Charlotte with enthusiastic motor sports fans. Generation Opportunity is sponsoring an exhibit and field organizers will be on hand to engage young adults throughout the weekend. More than 150,000 people are expected to attend the Coca-Cola 600, the only 600-mile event in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

The grassroots team has traveled across North Carolina to hear firsthand the personal stories of young adults seeking greater economic opportunity and access to meaningful, full-time jobs in their chosen career paths. Generation Opportunity has been meeting with young adults attending community colleges and universities, those who work in the trades and professions, young entrepreneurs, construction workers, veterans, and young parents who are concerned about the poor economy and the lack of jobs.

Generation Opportunity began its first major sweep through North Carolina in April, connecting with young adults at a wide variety of college and community venues including Charlotte, Chapel Hill, Jamestown,Greensboro, and Raleigh. The team visited the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill, Central Piedmont Community College, Guilford Technical Community College, UNC Greensboro, Wake Technical Community College, UNC Charlotte, and NC State University. In addition to the campus visits, the team focused on outreach to young professionals at farmers markets and the “Earth Day Extravaganza” in downtown Raleigh, at the Women’s Small Business Expo in Charlotte, and also at the Cuegrass Festival in Raleigh.

Last fall, Generation Opportunity grassroots organizers met with and trained student leaders from High Point University, Campbell University, Gardner-Webb University, and Craven Community College at the 2011 American Student Government Association (ASGA) Conference.

Generation Opportunity commissioned a poll with the polling company, inc./WomanTrend (April 16 – 22, 2011, +/- 4% margin of error) and highlighted results for all young Americans ages 18-29 appears below:

Young Americans – American Energy Dependency is Top National and Economic Security Issue:

  • Greatest threats to national security: National Debt (62%), Energy Dependency (61%), and Indebtedness to Foreign Powers (50%).
  • 70% would increase production of domestic energy sources like oil, natural gas, and coal.

Young Americans – Delayed Dreams from a Poor Economy and the Lack of Opportunity:

  • 77% of young people ages 18-29 either have or will delay a major life change or purchase due to economic factors:
    • 44% delay buying a home;
    • 28% delay saving for retirement;
    • 27% delay paying off student loans or other debt;
    • 27% delay going back to school/getting more education or training;
    • 26% delay changing jobs/cities;
    • 23% delay starting a family;
    • 18% delay getting married.

Young Americans – Majority Disapprove of President Obama’s Management of Youth Unemployment, Washington Out-of-Touch:

  • Just 31% of 18 – 29 year-olds approve of President Obama’s handling of youth unemployment.
  • 69% say the current leadership in Washington fails to reflect the interests of the younger generation.
  • 59% of overall Millennials agree the economy grows best when individuals are allowed to create businesses without government interference.

A Year of Historic Elections

The year 2012 is rapidly becoming a year of historic elections.

Greece held one recently where no single Party won enough of the vote to form a government. In ensuing weeks, no progress was made by the nation’s Parties while negotiating to form a coalition. This potentially could lead to a chaotic situation – not just for Greece. The eventual outcome might lead to that country’s exit from the Eurozone. Fragmentation or an unraveling of the Eurozone would have enormous impact on Europe as well as a sagging global economy.

France elected a Socialist president who plans to reopen the spigot of government largess. What’s noteworthy about the French election is that Hollande’s victory was due in large part to a boost from Islamist voters. Having a presidential election within one of the European Union’s largest economic powers decided by voters whose cultural background includes centuries of antagonism and hostility towards Europe should be quite alarming to all of western civilization.

Now Egypt’s presidential election is apparently headed for a runoff between Mohammed Mursi, the Muslim Brotherhood’s candidate and former Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq. The Egyptian election, declared by world leaders as an historic first, could well be a harbinger for the Middle East, Europe and the world

Egypt was the first Arab country to officially recognize Israel and sign a peace agreement in 1979. The Muslim Brotherhood has since called for an end to the Egypt-Israeli peace treaty. The strongly conservative Islamic movement wants Egypt to move away from secularism and be ruled by the Quran. That does not bode well for western civilization. If an Egyptian government dominated by the Muslim Brotherhood ends the Egypt-Israeli peace treaty, the front line of western civilization will be in enormous peril. Not only is Israel the only true democracy in the Middle East, it’s the sole nation in the region where religious tolerance is practiced.

In America, November’s election will also hold historical significance. Will voters in the United States re-elect an incumbent who sat silently by while a tyrannical, Quran ruled theocracy in Iran slaughtered it’s own citizens in cold blood for disputing election results? Will voters re-elect the candidate who openly supported the Arab Spring revolts that led directly to the ascension of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt? Will voters choose to retain someone who so lusts to bask in glory for “getting” Osama bin Laden that his administration granted access to highly restricted national security information to Hollywood producers to make a movie glorifying “his” achievement? A movie scheduled for release right before the election? Will the United States choose to keep those in power that leaked to Pakistan the name of the doctor who helped find bin Laden, resulting in his being sentenced to decades in prison by what’s at best a fair weather ally? Will voters elect to continue an administration that insists on calling the war on terror “an overseas contingency operation”? That continues calling terrorist attacks “man caused disasters”? That’s own Secretary of State officially refers to Osama bin Laden as a murder, instead of a terrorist?

The current White House occupant violated the Constitution by accepting the position of Chaimanship of the UN Security Council. He reduced NATO security by canceling missile defense shield installations in Europe, supported a pro-Chavez candidate in Honduras and violated the Law by engaging the United States military in overseas hostilities without the consent of Congress. He’s abandoned enforcing the security of American borders while transferred billions of taxpayer dollars to enemies of the United States through Foreign Aid. He’s snubbed Britain, one of America’s traditional allies repeatedly, and treated the duly elected Prime Minister of Israel the way a member of the KKK would treat a Negro.

Over the past century, especially post WWII, America has been leader of the free world. Having originated from and being comprised primarily of former European colonies, America is naturally the leader of the western world. By extension, that makes the President of the United States the leader of western civilization. Will U.S. voters re-elect someone whose own actions indicate open hostility towards western civilization, or elect someone who will defend the west?

History shows Americans will vote to defend the west. What “progressives” will choose is largely foretold by the actions already taken by their choice in 2008 for the Office of the Presidency.

The November 2012 U.S. elections will indeed be historic. Not just for Americans.

OC Republican Voted Out in Wake of George Wallace Mailers

Orange County, CA – The Orange County Republican Party expereinced a bit of a shakeup earlier this week when the party voted to remove Orange County candidate for County Supervisor Deborah Pauly as vice-chair of the central committee.  Officials from within the party claim Pauly was too divisive a figure and damaged the reputation of the party.  Pauly has been involved in a number of controversial issues in the last few years, including a speech she gave while protesting a Muslim community center/mosque in Yorba Linda. She also has refused to denounce Marilyn Davenport, the OC Republican who emailed a picture depicting Barack Obama as a monkey. The latest Pauly misstep   involved an Orange County business owner – Bob Walters- who apparently mailed out letters on Pauly’s behalf that were printed on original stationary from the office of reviled segregationist Democrat George Wallace.  Walters had once worked for the Wallace campaign.

This latest faux pas on the part of Ms.Pauly was the last straw for party Chairman Scott Baugh. “She makes statements that are out there that I’m constantly having to defend”, the L.A.Times quotes Baugh as saying. Baugh felt Pauly was just too divisive for the best interests of the party at this time, and many on the Central Committee seemed to share his opinion. The vote to oust Pauly came in at 47 in favor and only 16 against.

Ms.Pauly is intimating that the real problem is not with her statements, but her politics. From the beginning of her campaign Pauly has represented herself as a candidate not only running against Democrats in the state, but also against the Republican establishment. Is this a case of tea party versus the GOP machine? A source from inside the OC GOP’s central committee, who wished to remain anonymous told us this is not about politics. “I don’t think this is about Deb’s conservative views. It’s about how she conducts herself. Deb can be confrontaitional when you don’t need to be confrontational. Her personality can be abrasive. Do we think she’s been appropriate in her conduct as first vice chair? Perhaps this wasn’t the right time to take this type of vote two weeks from state elections, but a 47-16 vote tells you a lot about what people thought of her.” As to the timing of the vote, the source goes on to say that Baugh seemed uncomfortable with that as well, but thought it best not to delay it until August to avoid too much drama just a few months out from the general elections in November.

Whatever the motivations and behind-the-scenes affairs, the OC Republican Party has experienced quite a dust-up this week. It remains to be seen if Pauly will go quietly into the night or put up a fight. It also remains to be seen if the OCGOP can pull together convincingly enough in time to generate some passion and support among voters this November.

We contacted both Deborah Pauly and Scott Baugh but both were unavailable for comment.

Nine out of ten journalists say, “Guilty!”

Audio experts are working around the clock to find more Zimmerman racism hidden in the 9–1–1 tapes. Maybe if they play them backward...

Good news for Neighborhood Watch celebrity, George Zimmerman. The Associated Press reports that in 23 years only 2,000 people have been exonerated after being wrongly convicted of a serious felony.

Each year there are nearly one million felony convictions, over 10,000 times more than the 90 innocent defendants wrongly convicted. The findings are particularly encouraging for Zimmerman as he faces criminal prosecution for second–degree murder in the death of Trayvon Martin and simultaneously a trial–by–media for the same offense.

The miscarriage of justice rate compares very favorably with the hospital medical error rate of 18 percent, where presumably the doctor doesn’t have any animus toward the customer, as opposed to prosecutors who do.

And public opinion is starting to come around. A new Rasmussen Reports national survey found 40 percent think Zimmerman acted in self–defense.

This finding is in sharp contrast to a survey of mainstream journalists that found 85 percent believe Zimmerman should already be doing time in Guantanamo.

Then when it appears justice may finally be allowed to take its course, the Washington Post uses a discredited CNN idea to attack George.

You may recall CNN reporter Gary Tuchman examined Zimmerman’s 9–1–1 call and discovered RACISM! Which is to be expected from someone with a white father. Using “one of the most sophisticated audio edit suites in the broadcast news business” CNN heard Zimmerman saying “(bleeping) coons” after technicians “enhanced” the recording.

Naturally to demonstrate even–handed news judgment, the tape was played for viewers about 300 times during the segment. As the reporter intoned, “Listen closely for “coon,” a word only bigots use. Remember it starts with a ‘c’ and ends with ‘oon.’”

Except the word wasn’t “coon.” Two weeks later, with much less fanfare, CNN re–enhances the tape and sure enough Zimmerman was saying “(bleeping) cold.”

How fortunate Zimmerman didn’t have to hide in the weeds to observe Martin. I can only imagine what the media would have done if George had muttered something about being bitten by a (bleeping) chigger.

Which brings us back to the sound–enhancing WaPo and its recording of a witness call, which FBI analysts have already termed “inconclusive.” The WaPo recycles the lie that Zimmerman ignored an order from the dispatcher. And in a nice touch, writes “…cursing under his breath, Zimmerman got out of his truck and began to follow (Martin).” But, thanks to CNN, we know Zimmerman was cursing the weather, a common activity worldwide, and not Martin.

Martin’s father heard the WaPo tape and told police the voice was not his son’s, But that was before lawyers got to him and visions of wrongful death lawsuits began dancing in his head. In contrast, the WaPo’s expert — who wouldn’t have known Trayvon if the kid had approached him at 7/11 and asked for a loan to buy Skittles — imagines Martin yelling, “I’m begging you!” “Help me!” And then, “Stop!”

Since the story was written by two females, I won’t fault them for their lack of expertise when it comes to fight dynamics. But in the real world the person who lands the first punch usually wins. Since witnesses place Martin on top of Zimmerman repeatedly punching him “MMA” style, it’s reasonable to assume his was the first punch.

Someone winning a fight is also not the one calling for help. The puncher is usually concentrating on pounding the punchee. Evidence shows Zimmerman’s back was wet from ground contact and he had a broken nose, two black eyes and cuts on the back of his head, so Trayvon evidently was doing a thorough job.

You can find the recording on the Post website and identifying any one element is like trying to isolate a single razzberry in a Spike Jones recording. One of the edited audio segments purports to be Martin’s “Stop!” But I’ve been in recording studios for 35 years and I hear “Help!” in both recordings, which stands to reason since Zimmerman is losing the fight.

But this is where it gets interesting. The “expert” asserts those 45 seconds aren’t Zimmerman calling for help during the fight, but Martin pleading with Zimmerman not to shoot him AFTER the fighting was over.

So by his reckoning, the fight is concluded. Zimmerman has his gun out. Martin begs for his life for almost a minute and then Zimmerman executes him in cold blood.

But lab results reveal the gunshot was so close it burned Martin’s skin. We know there was a single shot. If the entry wound is low and travels upward, it supports Zimmerman. But even without that information, if the fight was over and Martin was pleading for his life, chances are he would have been backing or running away, putting distance between himself and Zimmerman.

Common sense would dictate waiting for the evidence and using practical experience to evaluate it, but the Post, along with the majority of the media, has already found Zimmerman guilty and they want us to join them.
