Dear Energy Chief Chu: You know where you can shove your $50 lightbulb?

Just when the American government appeared to be maxed-out on the stupidity-meter, along comes Energy Secretary Steven Chu awarding $10 million frigging tax dollars for an “affordable green light-bulb” invention. The problem? It costs $50.00 a bulb for starters. Courtesy of NewsMax, we see just how idiotic and completely out of touch with reality Barack Obama and his lunatic-Liberal appointees truly are:

The good news: The Obama administration has awarded a $10 million prize for a “green” but affordable light bulb that’s available to the public.
The bad news: The bulb costs $50.
The “L Prize” was announced by Energy Secretary Steven Chu last year, to push manufacturers to come up with a green bulb “affordable for American families,” The Washington Post reported. The competition also required parts of the bulb to be made in America.
The L Prize winner is a $50 bulb made by Philips. Similar LED bulbs are going for less than half that cost, the Post reported.

Pay attention to that complete paragraph there. “Affordable green energy” now means paying $50.00 for a retread of an already manufactured bulb, the lunatic Liberal running the U.S. Energy dept. has given away $10 million tax dollars for it, and “parts” of the bulb will be made in America. Oh and similar bulbs are already selling for about half the price. IE: $25.00 a bulb! NewsMax goes on to further point just who started the lunacy of charging Americans $50.00 for a light-bulb:

The $10 million contest was meant to ease the transition away from inefficient incandescent light bulbs to more efficient fluorescent and LED bulbs. President George W. Bush signed legislation in 2007 to phase out the old bulbs.

That’s right, the supposedly conservative Republican G.W. Bush, with a Republican-dominated Congress in 2007 started the ball rolling towards this green energy debauchery and crony-capitalism-inducing thievery that has resulted in a $10 million dollar prize, (paid for with your tax dollars) for a moronic Cadillac light bulb that will cost Americans $50 bucks apiece, and which will be manufactured in foreign countries. ( One part will be made in America, just to fool the uninformed masses)

All of this idiocy and blatant government stupidity, (not to mention the theft of taxpayer dollars under the guise of a “prize”) is brought to you by Barack Obama’s Liberal-lunatic appointee, Steven Chu. Does America really want four more years of this Liberal-lunacy? Note: Should Energy Chief Chu not understand the title of this opinion piece, here is a clue: It involves a place where the sun doesn’t shine.

  1. I’ll tell you about a light bulb that is affordable to the public, it’s called the regular incandecent light bulb for about $.59 cents a bulb. Or even less. I bought a pack of 60w bulbs at Wal Mart the other night that was $1.00 a pack of four. That is $.25 a bulb. One quarter, as opposed to $50 dollars? Which one would you want to buy? As for me and my family, we’re going to use the regular light bulbs, thank you very much.

Here’s the big deal. Those regular light bulbs are very “inefficient”. They don’t use electricity very well and efficient. What the hell does that mean? I don’t really care about anything about how that bulb’s efficiency ranks on some scale. All I care about is whether or not it comes on when I turn the lamp on or flip the switch on the wall I have the light I need to do what I want to do. I should not have to worry about whether or not my local power plant has to crank up the generator’s a bit more when people come home from work and start turning things on, the electric power plant gets a spike in usage and needs to turn up the power production.

But see, that’s just the problem liberals see as to what is adding to “man made global warming”, it is making the power plant run the equipment at a higher rate which in turn produces more heat that escapes into the atmosphere. It has nothing to do with how much electricity is running through the wires to your house, or a business or anything else.

We should have all the power we need to do whatever it is that we want to do. We should be free to do whatever we need to do, and should not have to ever, EVER worry about whether or not what we’re doing might be “wasting” electricity, or is saving electricity. Electricity should never be saved, it should be used to enable us to get done whatever it is that we want to do. We should not ever add “worry” to the list of things needed in order to accomplish whatever it is that we want to do.

  2. Any and all talk about whether or not we need to save electricity is nothing more than an attempt to stop man’s creative ability, and productive endevor’s we embark on in order to produce something we can in order to make money for ourselves and to sell that product to the public, for money. If we can’t get the light we need or the power to use some tools or whatever to make things, that we enjoy doing, then that curtails man’s, American’s creative abilities and instead gives American’s something else to think about instead of making all the money we want to make. This what liberals want to do, not being concerned about the environment at all, but rather take our freedom away from us to make things we can sell to make money for ourselves.

Liberals hate that about us. They are bent on making our lives so restricted from doing anything that we could make money from, that they are willing to do anything in order to accomplish that end. Alinsky Rules For Radicals says the means justifies the end, and any means that may cause more problems than first thought is okay to be used to accomplish that end. And what is the end? To take our freedom away from us to make all the money we want to make for ourselves by being using all the power we want in order to accomplish making money by being able to make things that take electricity to make it.

  3. The Washington Post reported: “A Philips spokesperson declined to talk in detail about the bulb or its price because the product has yet to be formally launched. … But the spokesperson said the … bulb costs more because, as the contest required, it is even more energy-efficient, running on 10 watts instead of 12.5 watts. It is also brighter, renders colors better and lasts longer.”

Renders colors better? Better then what? Oh yes, better than the twisty bulbs that take forever to warm up,cost a small fortune, and do NOT last as long as the government propagandists making millions off of them say they do. Oh and it takes a HAZMAT team to get rid of them. Wonder how much we paid those “geniuses of the green clan” to invent that POS?
