Facebook and Twitter both filter what you see, decide what you should believe, and make sure anything you see or read fits a single narrative – why would this site follow that model?
It never will.
We get heat for publishing libertarian stuff, non-interventionist stuff, pro-Ukraine stuff, warmongering stuff, pro-China stuff, and anti-China stuff. It doesn’t matter. There is someone out there that will hate whatever we publish – go nuts. I push my editorial team to accept and publish articles from a variety of views knowing that some readers will see this as some sort of treason against conservatives. It is not.
We respect our readers and believe that we can publish anything and everything (as long as it is well written) and they will consume, consider and perhaps debate and comment. I trust that they can filter information on their own and don’t need a website to do it for them. We just make sure to publish quality content – not content that fits a single narrative.
Readers have to decide for themselves if the information is right for them. I hope every single person that visits CDN is a skeptic – doubt is healthy. Honestly. We aren’t herding sheep here. Disagree, debate, let us have it in the comments section (we do actually read every single one.)
I hope we illuminate the whole of the conservative spectrum – and even some left of that. We have to realize that all conservatives do NOT think alike and most moderates don’t either. We are not monolithic and no one should expect us to be. We are, in the words of Ronald Reagan, rugged individualists.
So ask yourself – can you tolerate listening to an opinion with which you disagree and respectfully respond? Or, is your only recourse to act like Facebook and Twitter and shut them down?
I choose the former and that is our editorial line. I’d love to hear from those that don’t agree with my approach as much as those that do. Let me have it!
