For Reid it is Joy to Embarrassment
This evolution of Joy Reid is not pretty to watch, and I think we all know the inevitable outcome. Joy is going to take one of her rants, one of her immature tirades, too far, say something that will offend even her staunchest supporters, and she will suffer a cable death.
Many may not even know who Joy Reid is. After all, being on MSNBC, she does not have a broad audience. In June, Reid suffered her lowest ratings at 1.2 million viewers. As a comparison, Tucker Carlson leads in viewership, with Sean Hannity right behind both with over 4 million viewers. Part of the reason might be that Carlson and Hannity focus on the story and Reid on how she can use the story to widen the racial chasm. I often use the term lazy when referring to how some journalists perform their job. I think that manipulative is more fitting for Reid. No issue is beyond race for her which reminds me of Al Sharpton. Interesting they both occupy space at MSNBC.
Reid is a Harvard graduate, though her major was film studies. She is the daughter of immigrants. Her father is from the Congo, and her mother is from Guyana. Both educated people who met in Grad school in Iowa, of all places. Rather than celebrate the opportunity this country has given her and her parents, she chooses to dwell on this country being a systematically racist hell hole. Not bad that she makes $1.5 million a year to speak to 1.2 million viewers. Not bad for a racist hell hole.
Reid finds a way to lower every event to its racial implications. Still, she has gone over the top with her foolish, immature, and shallow coverage of the Kyle Rittenhouse trial in Kenosha, Wisconsin. To be fair, the rioting that was the backdrop for the Rittenhouse story was the shooting by police of Jacob Blake. The shooting was determined to be justified as Blake was threatening his girlfriend and their children with a knife. The incident and findings of no wrongdoing by police led to the rioting in Kenosha. The riots, along with a lack of police presence, are what brought Kyle Rittenhouse to the scene.
Not to dwell on the Rittenhouse shootings because the topic today is Reid’s coverage of the event, but one fact is vitally important. The three men that Rittenhouse shot in self-defense and Rittenhouse are all white. There should be no racial overtones to the discussion of the case, period. Joy Reid, politicians, and left swaying journalists found a way to make it all about race. As I said, lazy.
The term “White Supremacist” has been used freely to describe Rittenhouse. Joe Biden, Hakeem Jeffries, Joy Reid, and many others are guilty of using or misusing. When all elements in a situation are white, where do White Supremacists come into play? It doesn’t unless you intend to taint someone or the story. In this case, both were accomplished.
Joy Reid went off on Friday night and exploded during her show. This verdict shows how gun laws are wrong and favor whites and that this decision by the jury creates an open season on white activists shooting up black protestors. The term “crossing state lines” is used in nearly every report of this case, including with Reid, but it is such an overstatement. Kenosha is very close to the Illinois border, and there is commuting daily across the state line.
The Joy Reids and Al Sharptons of cable paint Kyle as a domestic terrorist and white supremacist while portraying the three people shot as some heroes. They had no problem with a pedophile child rapist and sex abuser being in Kenosha, but Kyle Rittenhouse had no business there. He was looking for trouble and found it, according to Reid and Sharpton. This verdict permits others to attack BLM protestors, according to Reid.
Al Sharpton has made a living sowing division and racism in the name of Civil Rights. Al Sharpton would have no place on MSNBC. He would have no job without paring everything down to black versus white. Joy Reid is the new iteration of Al Sharpton. It is a shame and makes you wonder who these million people are who spend their evenings with Joy Reid. Let’s pray for them that they find their way.
