Can Virginia do it once again?
In what has become the most closely watched race in the nation, Virginia will go to the polls today to elect a new governor. The latest polls show the momentum behind Glenn Youngkin, a businessman turned politician for just this occasion.
For the state of Virginia, this is really nothing new. The state has an extensive history of being in the spotlight all throughout American history. The state is known for its role in the founding of the United States. It was one of the first to send troops to help fight the British when the Revolutionary War began.
The state is known for several of its popular figures in the past. George Washington is credited with leading the Continental Army against the British and leading our nation in its infancy. Thomas Jefferson is known as a former president and the author of the Declaration of Independence. It was in Virginia, at the battle of Yorktown, that the British surrendered.
Virginia has also played a role in some of the most controversial times in our nation. It was in Virginia that Richmond was named the Confederate Capital. It was also in Virginia that General Robert E Lee surrendered at Appomattox.
More recently, Virginia has been known for its flip-flopping from blue to red. It has been more reliably blue in recent years, but with Youngkin’s current polling numbers, it seems that could change.
I am sure someone will comment and remind me that Virginia is not the only state electing a governor on Tuesday. I understand that, but I think that the position that Virginia finds itself in is one that the state is used to. It’s a position of leadership in a trying time of our nation.
There is no guarantee that the state will choose the right side once again. They may have chosen right in the past, but the track record of the past few years is concerning. The state voted for Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Hillary Clinton. All three were or are horrible leaders.
Each of these has led our nation down a destructive path of socialism, liberal ideology, and progressive brainwashing. Virginia is paying the price for its decisions. You can find examples all across the state, but the recent events in Loudoun County should be a fresh reminder.
So will the state continue its string of bad choices? Or will the state once again lead our nation? Recent events in the state should be encouraging. Parents are standing up to liberal school board leaders. The excitement at Youngkin events and the recent moves in the polls make us hopeful.
We will not have to wait long to see how Virginia votes. Election results will most likely be returned late Tuesday evening barring a massive mail-in fraudulent ballot campaign by Democrats.
If Virginia votes the way it should, it sets the stage for Gov. Youngkin and another possible revolution in our nation. A revolution to move away from the radical progressive agenda and back to the possibility of a great America once again.
If Virginia elects McAuliffe, it continues the sad saga where the state refuses to acknowledge its failures. It continues the radical leadership and failed policies that have failed the people of Virginia. Not just that, but it also gives the Democrats more support for their radical agenda, where they can argue that Americans truly want their socialist demise.
For the love of our country, Virginia, get out and lead once again.
