There is an old Honeymooner’s episode where Ralph Kramden’s boss at the bus company invites him and his pal Ed Norton over to his house to teach him how to play pool. When they get there Norton proceeds to make all kinds of idiotic suggestions for the bus company and Ralph’s boss goes along with him and makes him a supervisor over the bus drivers much to Ralph’s anger.
I see much of the same thing with this Alexandria Ocasio Cortez woman. She makes these idiotic, radical suggestions for the country and the media fawns all over her.
She promises: free healthcare; universal jobs guarantee; free universities — all schools must be free; paid family and sick leave at taxpayer expense; free housing as a human right; drastic changes in incarceration, policing, and drug laws; open borders and abolish ICE; end the electoral college;100% renewable energy – banning of fossil fuels; end corporate money in elections but she will not end monies from unions and other Democrat slush funds; She wants Medicare for all and to forgive student debt, an economy of peace — socialism.
Democratic socialist wunderkind Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Friday that her surprising election victory, and those of other liberal congressional freshmen, are on a par with a series of landmark moments in American history.
During a press conference hosted by the Sunshine Movement, an advocacy group that leverages youth protests to oppose global warming, the 29-year-old Ocasio-Cortez said her Nov. 6 achievement ranks with the 1969 Moon landing and the 1964 Civil Rights Act. ‘We’ve done what we thought was impossible,’ she told a small crowd who braved 40-degree weather.
New York progressive house member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized Congress for not suffering pay cuts like the rest of the government. But will she actually support this now that she’s in power? The Daily Caller reports:
New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said lawmakers should refuse to get paid during the partial government shutdown but she won’t say if that rule applies to her.
As the New York Post reports, when asked Thursday about receiving her congressional salary, the self-proclaimed Democratic socialist apparently had other things on her mind, running down a Capitol Hill hallway and telling the reporter, “I’ve gotta run!”
It was on social media in December that Ocasio-Cortez castigated members of Congress for accepting a salary when some members of the public have to do without.
The fact that she ran away from the question shows with her it is do as I say not as I do.
The shutdown doesn’t mean that the workers will not get paid, they will. They don’t get paid at the end of the day anyway. They get paid every two weeks and if they are smart they have leave time to fall back on and if they are really smart they have money in savings.
She compared herself to Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln saying Roosevelt signed social security and Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation that freed the slaves/, At the time they may have been considered radical but not by today’s standards. Does she realize that it was Democrats who kept the slaves and it was Democrats who opposed civil rights in the 60’s?
“I think that it only has ever been radicals that have changed this country,” Ocasio-Cortez says in the piece airing Sunday on 60 Minutes, “Abraham Lincoln made the radical decision to sign the Emancipation Proclamation. Franklin Delano Roosevelt made the radical decision to embark on establishing programs like Social Security. That is radical.” I wonder if she realizes that a little known historical fact was that Liberia was the expected destination for the repatriated slaves. Lincoln didn’t think whites and blacks could live together.
Asked if she feels like a radical, the Washington neophyte embraced the label: “You know, if that’s what radical means, call me a radical.”
The “Green New Deal” aims to eliminate carbon emissions within the next 12 years, and Ocasio-Cortez acknowledges success would only follow a difficult and unprecedented effort.
“That is the goal,” explained Ocasio-Cortez, who was sworn into office Thursday. “It’s going to require a lot of rapid change that we don’t even conceive as possible right now. What is the problem with trying to push our technological capacities to the furthest extent possible?”
She knows it will require a lot of money, too, and has a plan for generating the funds. The young politician suggested a progressive tax system where the wealthiest Americans would pay to fund the program. She wants to increase taxes and spend wildly. Ocasio Cortez wants a 82% tax rate for New Yorkers. The current top federal income tax rate is 37 percent, so the Ocasio-Cortez plan will nearly double the tax rate for the top bracket. New York State has a top income tax rate of 8.82 percent while New York City has a top rate of 3.876 percent. So under this proposal, her constituents would pay a top combined income tax rate of 82.7 percent: Federal income tax rate: 70.0%
NY state income tax rate: 8.82%
NYC income tax rate: 3.876%
TOTAL: 82.696%
New Yorkers would not be the only ones suffering under the Ocasio-Cortez plan. California taxpayers would pay a top rate of 83.3 percent (70 percent plus the California rate of 13.30 percent). In addition to this high-income tax rate, taxpayers would remain impacted by other taxes including payroll taxes, taxes on capital gains income and dividends, and the death tax. This could lead to massive layoffs and closings of companies that Trump has prevented up until now.
“There’s an element where, yeah, people are going to have to start paying their fair share in taxes,” she said. “You look at our tax rates back in the 60s and when you have a progressive tax rate system, your tax rate, say, from zero to $75,000 may be 10 percent or 15 percent, etcetera.
“But once you get to like the tippy-tops, on your ten-millionth dollar, sometimes you see tax rates as high as 60 or 70 percent,” Ocasio-Cortez explained.
Pay their fair share? People and companies are taxed to the max now. Trump is bringing that all down thus creating jobs here and companies coming back from overseas.
Essentially, according to her socialist way of thinking the more successful businesses and individuals are, the more they’re punished by the government.
“It means that as you climb up this ladder, you should be contributing more,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
We need more tax cuts, not rate hikes. This woman is a fool in every meaningful sense of the word. I wonder if she and her socialist cohorts ever heard Margaret Thatcher’ s statement that’ socialism is good until you run out of other people’s money.
We see how well a 50%+ tax rate is working in France right now. We see how well socialism (and don’t think this isn’t socialism) has worked in the USSR, Venezuela and other countries. She is a loose cannon and all they do is cause harm and destruction.
Not all change is good. Hitler was a radical and caused lots of change. We don’t need another Hitler. Go a little further down that line and you’ll see the saying “It takes all kinds” is nonsense. It doesn’t take a Charles Manson to get things done. There are many kinds of people we don’t need at all – Hitler and Manson among them. There are many others we can do perfectly fine without. Why? Because they cause change that nobody needs or wants.
Socialist idiots never seem to understand that those wealthy people they are always dreaming about taxing more to PAY for every one of their loony ideas are the people who create JOBS for other Americans. But if they are taxed into the POOR HOUSE by the ever-greedy Left to fund their ever-more-idiotic pie-in-the-sky notions, then there won’t BE any jobs created, and then we’ll have another OBAMA economy, which is the LAST thing we need! 8 YEARS of that crap was MORE than enough!

Cortez hides behind the Democratic-Socialist, seemingly innocuous, label but their platform is Communist.

What about her take on crime? Cortez says prisons are “slavery” and she wants them abolished, replaced with social work intervention.

She was supposed to have a degree in economics but shows she doesn’t understand economics. She didn’t even know the three branches of government that I was taught in seventh grade, but I guess that’s what they are teaching n schools these days.
Yes, Alexandria Cortez’s ideas are idiotic, radical and dangerous and like Ralph’s boss and Norton in the Honeymooners, the media goes right along with her.
