“How do you impeach a president who has won perhaps the greatest election of all time, done nothing wrong (no Collusion with Russia, it was the Dems that Colluded), had the most successful first two years of any president, and is the most popular Republican in party history”—Donald Trump responding to impeachment talks by new House Dems.
“They only want to impeach him because they know they can’t win and they have nothing to offer”—Sarah Sanders on Fox News saying why Dems want to impeach Trump.
Sarah is so right and so is Trump. Dems have nothing to offer except name calling and higher taxes. The reason the economy is so good is that Trump undid 800 of Obama’s 1200 regulations and lowered taxes. That creates jobs and makes companies come back here. We now have the best economy in 50 years, the lowest unemployment in a generation and everything is up, the stock market is back up again and now Dems want to ruin all of that with their higher taxes. Ocasio Cortez wants an 82% tax increase for New Yorkers. The current top federal income tax rate is 37 percent, so the Ocasio-Cortez plan will nearly double the tax rate for the top bracket.
New York State has a top income tax rate of 8.82 percent while New York City has a top rate of 3.876 percent. So under this proposal, her constituents would pay a top combined income tax rate of 82.7 percent:
Federal income tax rate: 70.0%
NY state income tax rate: 8.82%
NYC income tax rate: 3.876%
New Yorkers would not be the only ones suffering under the Ocasio-Cortez plan. California taxpayers would pay a top rate of 83.3 percent (70 percent plus the California rate of 13.30 percent). In addition to this high-income tax rate, taxpayers would remain impacted by other taxes including payroll taxes, taxes on capital gains income and dividends, and the death tax. This could lead to massive layoffs and closings of companies that Trump has prevented up until now.
Friction between Sanders and the press has only ramped up as journalists have complained that she is cutting off their access to the president and blocking them from doing their jobs. Thursday’s briefing came after Sanders cut off a press briefing short last month, infuriating journalists who wanted to waste more of Sanders’ time with barbed questions and anti-Trump innuendo.
But Sanders’ job is to represent the president and field questions from reporters, not accommodate screaming propagandists with an ax to grind. Until the White House press pool can clean up its act, we can’t blame Sanders or Trump for avoiding them like the plague.
Recently, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders had harsh words for incoming Democratic Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib after footage of her profanity-laced rant about impeaching President Donald Trump went viral.
Hours after becoming a congresswoman, Tlaib promised to “impeach” Trump, telling a cheering audience on Capitol Hill that she would “impeach the motherf****r.”
Sanders was asked about the remarks on “Fox & Friends” Friday morning and said bluntly, “You will not impeach this president.” She further said that Tlaib was trying to advance her “own political career.”
“You will not impeach this president when he had two of the most successful years any president had in modern history,” Sanders said. “The only reason they come after this president is because they know they can’t beat us, can’t beat him when it comes to policy debate. They have no solutions for America.”
While Democrats have shown a propensity to toss around the “I- word” it is not so easy to remove a sitting president. To do so requires a conviction by the Senate on “treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.” The impeachment process would require the consent of both the House and two-thirds of the Senate, which still has a Republican majority.
Nancy Pelosi, who has been sworn in as the House Speaker for a historic second time has been cautious about whether her new Democratic majority would ever impeach Trump, but at least two of her members are ready to move forward. California Rep. Brad Sherman and Texas Rep. Al Green introduced articles of impeachment against Trump on Thursday, the first day of the new Congress. Sherman and Green pushed to impeach Trump in 2017 and 2018, but the House blocked those resolutions twice, with the help of Democrats who said the effort was premature. Pelosi hasn’t ruled out impeachment but has called it a “divisive activity” that needs support from both parties.
On Wednesday Vice President Mike Pence wrote on Twitter: “We met w/ [Chuck Schumer] & presented a good-faith offer to resolve this issue & achieve a principled compromise – only to find out after Christmas that the Dems stopped negotiations altogether.”
If Republicans get the White House, they push through their legislation. When the Democrats take over, they undo everything the Republicans did and force their own legislation through. We saw this throughout both Bush administrations, the Clinton administration, and the Obama administration. That middle ground that politicians are supposed to find is now completely gone and it does not appear as though they will find it again anytime soon.
Pelosi just took over as House Speaker and promised to create bipartisan legislation, as Americans deserve. While saying that, both she and Schumer have rallied their party to completely walk away from the table with President Trump. The ONLY way they will come back is if they get their way, period.
They have the House, and they will not stop this obstructionist behavior until they have both the Senate and the White House back in their control. For the Democrats, this is all about power and control. Period.
Like many ancient civilizations, this one is committing suicide. America is asleep at the wheel. Obama dissed our friends and embraced our enemies. Trump reversed all this destruction Obama did to our country and yet the liberal democrats hate Trump. WHY? Because Trump loves our country and the Democrats and Obama with his treasonous actions hate our country, In a few months even Dems who voted for these political and dangerous morons will wake up to see what they voted for and put her faces in their hands and say “what have we done” but it will be too late.
