Calexico CBP Officers Find 134 lbs. of Meth in Doors, Quarter Panels, Gas Tank of a Vehicle
CALEXICO, Calif. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Calexico East port of entry discovered more than 134 pounds of methamphetamine in the doors, quarter panels and gas tank of a vehicle.
“CBP officers continue to stop contraband from entering our country,” said Officer in Charge of the Calexico ports of entry, Sergio Beltran. “This case is just another example of CBP officers completing their critical job on a daily basis.”
On Tuesday, June 23 at about 8:30 a.m., a 20-year-old U.S. citizen woman entered the East port of entry driving a 2009 Honda Accord. The CBP officer referred the vehicle and driver for a further inspection.
The vehicle was driven through the port’s imaging system, revealing anomalies within the vehicle. CBP officers searched the vehicle and later extracted 115 wrapped packages from the vehicle. The methamphetamine has an estimated street value of more than $161,000.
CBP officers seized the vehicle and methamphetamine. The driver was turned over to Homeland Security Investigation agents for further processing.
