Disgraced former FBI Director James Comey is getting hefty criticism for his new book which critics on both sides found “not particularly honorable.”
“If Comey’s decision to release the letter on Oct. 28 was influenced by his interpretation of the polls, that really ought to cut against his image as an honorable, principled decision-maker. Instead, he was just being expedient and trying to save his own hide,” left-leaning political analyst Nate Silver posted on Twitter. “It’s also not particularly honorable, if you have information that you believe is of immediate and vital national importance, to wait to 11 months to release it until you can have a giant book launch and publicity tour around it.
Nate’s criticism comes just after Republicans released a video featuring Democrats bashing Comey’s credibility.
This morning, Fox News political analyst Gregg Jarret unleashed his own thoughts on Comey’s book.
“I’ve finished reading Comey’ book. It’s an easy and superficial read,” Jarret said. “I saw nothing that was true. I can only conclude that Comey’s version of events is fantasy. It is fiction. Things will end badly for Comey. He stole government documents.”
“I can’t think of anyone who’s done a better job of politicizing the FBI than he has in the last 36 to 48 hours, by talking about tanning bed goggles and the length of a tie,” Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) said on Fox News. “That is beneath the dignity of the offices that he held.”
Not to be outdone, President Trump lit into Comey calling him a “LEAKER & LIAR” and said that it was his “great honor” to fire him.
“James Comey is a proven LEAKER & LIAR. Virtually everyone in Washington thought he should be fired for the terrible job he did-until he was, in fact, fired,” Trump posted on Twitter. “He leaked CLASSIFIED information, for which he should be prosecuted. He lied to Congress under OATH. He is a weak and untruthful slime ball who was, as time has proven, a terrible Director of the FBI. His handling of the Crooked Hillary Clinton case, and the events surrounding it, will go down as one of the worst “botch jobs” of history. It was my great honor to fire James Comey!”
