As a passionate advocate for making America great again, it’s frustrating to see the lackluster fashion in which legislation is being passed by our representatives today. The problem is rooted in Congress, but, not the legislative process itself.
What’s going on?
What has the Republican controlled House and Senate been able to pass? In general relatively little. I can’t name one major piece of legislation that has passed through both chambers. Yet, President Trump is harshly criticized for getting nothing done. It’s almost unbelievable.
How did this happen? Well, it’s quite simple actually. Because Republicans, Senate Republicans primarily are still refusing to get on board with the Trump agenda. When Trump started the now popular catch phrase “Drain the Swamp” many including myself thought it referred to Democrats, lobbyists, and big donors. Since Trump took over, however, it has become increasingly clear what this “swamp” consists off. Certainly, it contains its fair share of Democrats and deep-pocketed lobbyists and donors, we knew that. Nonetheless, what’s alarming is a number of establishment Republicans that partake in this group as well. Specifically, Senate Republicans. They’ve put their own interest of reelection ahead improving the lives of the people they were elected to represent. In this case of President Trump and his agenda, they refuse to actively try and pass anything meaningful. Yet, these are the same representatives who ran on the message of the betterment of the American people. By and large, this is the swamp folks and It definitely needs to be drained.
Look:
When is repeated failure as a result of poor leadership enough? It’s time for a change. In fact, it’s time for new leadership. Yes, I’m talking about replacing Speaker Paul Ryan and Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. It sounds crazy? Well, folks, it’s not! What do we have to loose? We need progress for or our country, and that means getting results. Yet, our current Republican leadership is incapable of producing them. It’s that simple. Ask yourselves this, why should we back them? They refuse to support our President, and they are incapable of passing any legislation that would better the lives of Americans. So why keep them? For this reason, new leadership is a necessity.
I can’t emphasize this enough:
Without new leadership, the reality is this, President Trump’s agenda will fail. We need the support of our Representatives in Congrees. Let’s have leadership willing to advance this agenda and make real progress. How does that sound? Remember, we elected President Trump, not President Ryan or McConnell. It’s time to get onboard or get out of the way. We no longer can sit back and watch establishment figures sabotage and stall this presidency. Let’s make our message to the establishment clear and concise. Support what we voted for in November, or face severe backlash come 2018.
