Witnesses have reported hearing at least one explosion after the conclusion of an Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England leaving 19 dead and as many as 50 wounded.

Reports say that 19 people have lost their lives and 59 have been injured after at least one explosion was heard just after Ariana ended her last song at Manchester Arena and the 21,000 person crowd had started leaving the venue.

An explosion occurred after the lights came on and the crowd had started leaving the arena. The crowd then rushed for the exits in panic.

The explosion was so loud that concert-goers said they could “feel it in their chests.” The boom was also heard by witnesses some distance away from the arena. Those inside the arena reported seeing dozens of victims laying on the ground in the foyer.

Whether the fatalities and injuries are due to the source of the explosion, now thought to have occurred near the ticket counter at the entrance/exit of the arena, or the crowd’s reaction is unknown.
“Officers are at Manchester Arena following reports of an explosion within the foyer area of the stadium at 10.30pm this evening.” The British Transport Agency said in a statement. “Emergency services are at the scene and we are working to establish more information regarding the explosion and will provide further updates as soon as possible.”

Emergency services were quick to respond including a UK bomb disposal team. Police are now treating the incident as a “possible terrorist incident.”
