President holds unannounced meeting with Henry Kissinger
President Trump held an unannounced meeting with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger on Wednesday.
The meeting did not appear on his public schedule when it was released and no updates were made prior to reporters learning of it at a press “spray.”
The White House press pool had been ushered into the Oval Office for what was assumed to be a spray of President Trump’s meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. But Trump was instead seated beside former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
The president said he was meeting with Kissinger to talk “about Russia and various other matters.”
“We’re talking about Syria and I think that we’re going to do very well with respect to Syria and things are happening that are really, really, really positive,” Trump added. “We’re going to stop the killing and the death.”
Trump said it was “an honor” to discuss the issues with Kissinger because “he’s been a friend of mine for a long time.”
