“progressive” Reporting on Scott Walker’s Recall Election

There’s so much empty, hateful “progressive” rhetoric in this “article” written by David Chalian it’s truly painful.

Scott Walker, Wisconsin governor, braces for recall election, proclaims controversial law is working

First Chalian begins his “article” with an openly biased headline (since once must not miss opportunities to repeat the “progressive”–the law is “controversial”–narrative) followed by repeated insinuations regarding Gov. Walker’s alleged lack of integrity.

For example: “In addition to trying to engender sympathy among voters for being targeted by forces outside his state” or “Walker is eager to sell himself as a politician with the courage of his convictions”.

“Trying to engender sympathy among voters for being targeted by forces outside his state”? Phrased in a calculated way so as to sound responsible, while intentionally planting seeds of doubt about Walker in the minds of undecided voters. Were Chalian capable of mustering a shred of journalistic integrity, he’d investigate and report the facts about the sources of money, organization and personnel being marshaled against Wisconsin’s Governor in this recall attempt. Instead, he’s being a “progressive” shill by taking sides.

“Walker is eager to sell himself as a politician with the courage of his convictions”? What politician or policy wonk doesn’t sell themselves to voters? The current White House occupant spends taxpayer money to fly around the country in Air Force One going to key battleground States to proclaim the “courage of his convictions” with staggeringly, alarming, unprecedented regularity. Where are the comparisons of Walker’s campaign pledges with his actions in office? Where are the facts, presented to a candid world, that shed light on the truth? That’s what rational, intelligent people expect from a bona fide reporter, not subliminal propaganda from a biased hit man.

As is typical of “progressive journalism”, facts can’t get in the way of strongly worded, emotional, rhetorical misrepresentation and misinformation.

A true journalist would ascertain whether or not the law is working in the way Gov. Walker describes. Tim Russert would have, but regrettably, journalistic integrity went to the grave in 2008 with the late moderator of Meet the Press. RIP Mr. Russert. We miss you.
