VP Joe Biden Proves Himself To Be A Political Hack
VP Joe Biden Opens His Mouth – Again
On September 28, 2011, Vice President Joe Biden told WLRN’s (a south Florida radio station) Phil Latzman, “Even though 50 some percent of the American people think the economy tanked because of the last administration, that’s not relevant. What’s relevant is, we’re in charge. Biden later acknowledged Obama’s (and his) reelection campaign was “understandably” shaping up to be a referendum on the administration’s handling of the economy. BTW, this is the same Joe Biden who, in January, 2007, described Barack Obama as, “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American presidential candidate who is articulate and bright and clean-cut and a nice-looking guy.”
I guess Biden’s comments lets George W. Bush off the hook. President Barack Obama said, on July 14, 2009,” Now, my administration has a job to do as well, and that job is to get this economy back on its feet. That’s my job, and it’s a job I gladly accept. I love these folks who helped get us in this mess and then suddenly say, well, this is Obama’s economy. That’s fine. Give it to me.” So I guess Biden was correct on both counts in his comments: They are in charge, and it’s Obama’s economy.
VP Joe Biden’s Credibility (or Lack of Same)
With his January, 2007, statement, and his September, 2011, statement (among others – it seems that he sticks his foot in every time he opens his mouth), Biden has very little, if any, credibility. So, with his statement history in mind, let’s look at other recent VP Biden statements and accomplishments.
Biden, while speaking to the Alexandria, Va. Police Department on Sept. 29, 2011, about the $450-billion American Jobs Act, said, “Look, we should be doing all of this stuff even if we were growing by 8 percent, even if there was a 3 percent unemployment rate in America.” Biden actually said that. Does that show that he is a political hack, or what? But wait, it gets better. He continued, “We’ve got to kick start this economy that’s stalled.”
While speaking on September 26, 2011, via a video at a conference on how government can work more efficiently, held by the liberal Center for American Progress (CAP) in Washington, DC, Biden again lost some credibility (as if he had any to lose). He actually said, “Americans deserve a government that actually works.” Biden also said the Obama administration is “trying to build a government that delivers much more bang for the buck than it ever has before.” How he said that and kept a straight face is beyond me. But again wait, it gets better. He continued, “So far, we’ve spent $600 billion, and we’re seeing waste, fraud, and abuse claims at just about two-tenths of 1 percent of the entire amount of money spent.”
In May, 2010, referring to the $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, Biden said, “We have new ideas about how to spend government money wisely.” Again, with a straight face, he said, “There are certain facts that are undeniably clear. The economy is growing again. The truth of the matter is that the Recovery Act is working.” He continued, “I might add, I’m very proud to say, that’s there’s been virtually no – knock on wood – virtually no fraud associated with the $787 billion program overall.” Biden was speaking at an event to push for passage of the American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act of 2010.
In 2009, President Obama signed the massive $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, and placed Vice President Joe Biden in charge of administering it. (remember?) President Obama said, “The fact that I’m asking my vice president to personally lead this effort shows how important it is for our country and future to get this right.” But from this February, 2011, article, we learn that VP Joe Biden is resigning his stimulus money management post, passing it on to Office of Management and Budget director Jack Lew. Was he successful? Well, look at the next section, then decide for yourself.
Fraud and Waste
BTW, just so you know, this article says that stimulus money went to 440 nonexistent congressional districts. According to recovery.gov, nearly $6.4 billion was used to “create or save” just under 30,000 jobs in these fraudulent congressional districts – almost $225,000 per job. And that’s just one example.
And this article lists 15 (as if that were all) projects that waste stimulus money. Do we REALLY need to know about drunk mice? (#5 on the list)
Where Was VP Joe Biden?
So there you have it – Vice President, no credibility, stimulus working, wise spending, economy stalled or growing (depending on which speech he gives), no waste or fraud, political hack Joe Biden.
But that’s just my opinion.
I agree 100% Warren! Biden is a hack, and the problem is they tell him to say one thing on Friday, then on Monday someone catches him saying the exact opposite. Some of it appears to be an attempt at slick manipulation of the message, kind of like reverse psychology, and then some of it appears to be just plain old dumb Joe sticking his foot in his mouth. I think it is an attempt by Obama’s handlers to try to pre-emptively discredit Biden by undermining his credibility even more than he himself does on a daily basis.
Interesting article with good information that gives us some insight into our Vice President’s supposedly idiotic and contrary statements recently.
