John Dummett: The “Hidalgo” of 2012

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to watch the movie “Hidalgo” on television for the 3rd or 4th time.  The movie is set in Saudi Arabia sometime in the early 1900’s, not sure exactly when, but somewhere in that neighborhood.  The story is about a horse race pitting a man and his horse against others in one of the most inhospitable deserts in the world.   The event is a race, man and beast, across 1000 miles of Saudi Arabian desert.  Hundreds of entries start, but very few finish.  Failure usually resulted in death due to the harsh environment and the fact that there are not many places to seek help in that environment.

Horses from everywhere are entered in this race.  Fine Arabian stallions and the finest horse breeds from around the world are entered.  Into this fine array of properly bred and trained horse flesh steps an American cowboy (Vigo Mortensen) and his horse Hidalgo.  Now Hidalgo isn’t your everyday upper crust horse.  He has no papers, no fancy breeding, and no fancy stable sponsoring him.  He is a wild mustang captured on the American prairie by Mortensen and trained as a cowboy’s horse.  Naturally, they are quite the spectacle amongst all of the royalty from around the world.  Here is this non-descript American cowboy with his non-descript wild horse thinking they can compete with these well-bred and well-cared for steeds.  They are made fun of, derided, and criticized by just about everyone there.

One thing these royal snobs seemed to miss in their air of superiority was the spirit of American exceptionalism, the can-do attitude that comes with being an American.  Hidalgo and Mortensen win the race, without cheating, without cutting corners, without compromising the values and spirit that make them what they are.  Fair play, honor, and decency come first; winning comes with that fair play, honor, and decency.

Move forward a century now, to the 2012 Presidential race.  In the Republican primary race we have the “usual suspects”: well-bred, well funded, smooth talking royalty who see this election as their time.  They have “paid their dues”, they have come up through the ranks of the Republican Party, they have played the game according to the party machine script, and now it is their turn to run the nation.

Into this group of royalty steps one John Albert Dummett, a common working class man with no “papers”, no “breeding”, and no “high priced fancy stable” to sponsor him.  John Dummett is as common as a man can be.  He and his wife, Karmi, have been married for 34 years and have raised 5 sons and 1 daughter.  Early in their marriage John was working as a cab driver while his wife had a very good job in a supermarket.  They sat down together and decided that the best way for them to prosper was for John to quit driving the taxi and get a college degree.  So while Karmi worked, John studied.  He went to Southwestern Community College in Chula Vista, California and earned a full scholarship to San Diego State University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.  John was offered a Rhodes scholarship to Oxford University in England, but felt that leaving for such an extended period of time would not be in the best interest of his family.  His first responsibility was to his wife and children, so he declined.

Among the scholastic awards John earned in college were the “Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities”, “The National Collegiate Social Science Award”, “Scholastic All America” and the “Golden Key National Honor Society Award”.  This was all made possible because John’s wife was willing to sacrifice, to do what was necessary to benefit the family, and he was willing to study hard to be the best he could be.

Having 6 children required a presence in the community as the kids were involved in activities.  And when kids are involved they need parent volunteers to coach, to lead, and to help with the activities.  John spent many a day between 1972 and 2008 coaching, teaching, managing, and supervising thousands of kids who might not have had those opportunities if not for the volunteer time this man was willing to offer.  As a Weebelo Scout Master, part of the Boy Scout Program, John would take his charges on field trips.  With degrees in Anthropology and History, minors in Geology, Geography, and Biology, John was able to instill many values, and a knowledge of our nation, and our planet, that most would not be able to impart to these kids.   He taught these boys to understand and appreciate our nation and our world in a unique way.

John has worked at many jobs in his life.  He is now a Staff Programmer Analyst with the California Department of Fish and Game.  In his current position, John builds corporate database applications to help insure that the natural resources of the State of California, and by extension the United States, are not stolen or wasted.  He didn’t start here, however.  He has worked as a cab driver, a turnpike toll collector, a bus boy, at a Jack in the Box restaurant, and at a marina in Coronado California.  He has run the gamut from being the lowest employee, with no responsibility other than to get himself to work on time, to now being responsible for thousands of people and millions of dollars.

John is a conservative family man who believes in Judeo-Christian principles, the Constitution, Divine Providence, and God’s place in the formation of our great nation.  John has felt a calling on his life that is bigger than himself.  He has seen both political parties pay lip service to God, We the People, and the Constitution, while ignoring the premise and meaning of all of these factors.   John has seen, as I have, the result of taking God out of our society.  He sees the deterioration of our values, our beliefs, our standard of living, and our society in general.  He believes the 1st Amendment grants freedom “of” religion, not freedom “from” religion.

John does not have the wealth and prestige of the other candidates, but is that a negative?  Not to me it isn’t.  To me, this fact is actually very much on the plus side.  John owes his position to no one and when elected to the office of President of the United States, his only loyalty will be to We the People of this great nation.   John is one of ”We the People”, not some wealthy party insider with loyalties too numerous to count, with We the People missing from that list.

John has also taken on the one subject no other candidate will touch, the question of Barak Obama’s eligibility.  John has been granted “in dicta” standing by the Ninth Circuit Court, one of the most liberal in the nation, to file a lawsuit challenging Obama’s status as a “natural born citizen” as prescribed in the Constitution, the Naturalization Act of 1790, and an 1875 Supreme Court decision (Minor vs. Happersett, 88 U S 162).  Essentially, what that says is that John can show harm to his political aspirations from the Obama candidacy, that of a candidate not eligible to serve as President of the United States of America.  All of the Republican Party presidential candidates are well aware of this matter, as are all Senators, Congressmen, and the leadership of the Republican Party machine yet they do nothing, they say nothing.  They do nothing and say nothing because there are Republicans waiting in the wings who are also not eligible to run for President, but will be promoted by the party machine when it suits their purpose.  The Constitution just gets in their way of their later plans if they challenge Barak Obama’s eligibility status.

John is a man of values and principle first, not last.  He has taken on this effort for the presidency because he believes in the sanctity of our laws and the Constitution, and the hand of God in all of it.  America is first and foremost to John Albert Dummett.  He desires to see his grandchildren grow up with the freedoms and liberties he grew up with.  He desires to see our nation returned to the status of “a shining city on a hill” as described by John Winthrop in the 1700’s.  John has no desire to establish a “Theocracy”.  His desire is to take our nation back to the founding principles that made the United States such a success for so many years.

I believe John Dummett is today’s Hidalgo.  He is a registered and recognized candidate in all 50 states and the Federal Election Commission.  He will be on the ballot in all 50 states, so when the primary in your state rolls around, please vote for John.  He has the spirit, the values, the honor, and the dignity needed to restore America to what it was designed to be by God and our founding fathers.  John is the man we need sitting in the White House in January 2013.  He will end the czar program.  He will end the subsidies to foreign governments who hate us and only use us for our money.  He will end the subsidy to that band of terrorists we call the United Nations.  He will end the corruption we see at both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington D. C.  And on the second day he will …………………..

John has my support and my heart in his quest to restore America.  I hope you will give him a look and the opportunity to serve this nation and its people.  John needs your financial and physical help to fight the good fight against favoritism, cronyism, and party politics.  Together we can reform politics but it will take all of us united against the ruling class of both political parties.   Our nation needs for each and every one of us to step up and make a difference.  Helping John Albert Dummett become the 45th President of the United States of America could be the most valuable effort you will ever give to any cause.

May God Bless John Dummett, May God Bless You, and May God Bless the United States of America.

I submit this in the name of the Most Holy Trinity, in faith, with the responsibility given to me by Almighty God to honor His work and not let it die from neglect.

  1. Now see, the writer of this article understands that there is a right and a wrong way to do things including voting. If I had understood the godly principles of voting years ago and had began my voting process on my knees before God then I can see now that there are several candidates that I would not have voted for at that time. Allowing God to lead your life is the beginning of wisdom. The past 40 years have seen everyone voting to suit their own greedy desires. Few vote according to the values that will enrich the nation. Occupy Wall St has made it blatantly obvious that the next generation of voters are totally dependent on the nanny state and they will supply few if any leaders for the nation. This proves that we are truly in the endtimes because it is in that time that the United States of America is so obviously unheard of. So, we have to decrease that Israel can increase while God readies the world to see His miracle of defending Israel against all her enemies. This is a great time to be alive…………even though I am sorriful over America’s demise.
