ATF Explosives Detection Canine Teams Help Chicago Prepare For NATO Summit

CHICAGO, May 18, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Leaders from around the world gather in Chicago this weekend for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization 2012 Summit. Law enforcement throughout Chicago, including the Chicago Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), are ramping up security in preparation for the historic event hosted by President Barack Obama, May 20-21.

ATF deployed several highly-trained special agents, paired with explosives detection canines, to assist in securing the facilities for the summit talks and events. ATF’s K-9 teams are working side-by-side with other federal, state and local law enforcement officers to keep the diplomats and others attending the summit safe throughout the event.

“The Explosives Detection Canine teams traveling to Chicago for the NATO Summit are the best of the best,” said Andy Traver, Special Agent in Charge of the ATF Chicago Field Division.  “These handlers and their K-9 partners train and prepare all year for an event such as this. Our K-9 teams are here to ensure that all the visitors arriving for the summit are safe.”

The ATF K-9 teams are from Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey and Texas.

ATF has used its explosives detection canines at other special events including Republican and Democratic National Conventions, Presidential Inaugurations, G-8 Summit meetings, World Series, NASCAR events, 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics and Super Bowls.

ATF’s program, which began in 1986, uses only Labrador retrievers.  The dogs are supplied by the Guiding Eyes for the Blind, the Guide Dog Foundation, and Canine Companions for Independence.  These specialty canines attend a 10-week training program with their handlers that are conducted at the ATF Canine Training Center in Fort Royal, Va.  Upon completion of this course, the canines are trained to detect a variety of explosive compounds and materials that could be used in an explosive device.  The canines can also detect firearms and ammunition and are used in the more traditional protective search and sweep operations.   The teams train on a daily basis.

Rick Perry and the Truth About Turkey

Governor Rick Perry has drawn quite a bit of criticism for his recent remarks regarding the country of Turkey during the Fox news/WSJ SC GOP debate on Tuesday night. When asked about his plans for cutting all U.S. foreign aid to zero, and whether Turkey still belongs in NATO, Perry responded as follows: “Obviously, when you have a country that is being ruled by what many would perceive to be Islamic terrorists, when you start seeing that type of activity against their own citizens, then yes — not only is it time for us to have a conversation about whether or not they belong to be in NATO, but it’s time for the United States, when we look at their foreign aid, to go to zero with it,” he said.

Note that Perry states in his answer that Turkey is “being ruled by what many would perceive to be Islamic terrorists.” He didn’t call them terrorists or identify any certain individuals as terrorists, but instead stated that many people would perceive the rulers of Turkey to be Islamic terrorists. So does Governor Perry’s statement carry any weight? Yes it does, and there are plenty of facts to back it up, which may be found by doing some very basic research on the subject of Turkey.

While the U.S. State dept, which is currently run by Hillary Clinton, has distanced itself from Perry’s statement, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs came out with a very U.S. DNC-type statement in which they attacked Perry’s credibility, as opposed to putting up any facts to denounce his statement. “Those individuals who are candidates for positions requiring responsibility such as the U.S. presidency are expected to be more knowledgeable on global affairs and more careful in their statements,” the ministry said in a statement. “Turkey became a member of NATO when the governor was just 2 years old. … The U.S. has no time to lose with such candidates who do not even know America’s allies.” So just because Governor Perry was two years old when Turkey joined NATO., we are led to believe that he could not possibly know anything about the country of Turkey, and their eligibility for NATO admittance. With the Muslim brotherhood surging into power within Egypt due to the recent uprisings across the region, we see the political climate changing at a rapid pace today. The anti-American, anti-Israeli sentiment is at a dangerous level throughout the Middle East and North Africa today. Governor Perry obviously wasn’t referring to the Turkey of 50 years ago when he made his statement.

For some factual history of the examples of historic Turkish genocide, mainly aimed at wiping out Christians in the region, see this article. Millions of people were murdered or fled religious persecution by the Young Turks of the Ottoman Empire, and Turkey’s government has shown the propensity to deny those facts, even today. And recently, William Dalrymple penned “Christians Fleeing the Middle East’ in which he wrote, that Christianity is suffering “a devastating decline in the land of its birth.” While today’s Turkey proclaims itself to be a Republic, it appears to be anything but a free Republic when we read about the Turkish-Muslim Persecution of Christians.

Fast forward to today. In this Fox News article, we see that recently the Turkish government has expelled the Israeli Ambassador, that Turkey’s [lack of] freedom of the press currently resembles that of Russia, and that Turkish authorities have recently met with Hamas leaders. Add to that information the reports that violence against women are up some 1400%, (2002-2009) and that the director of the Turkish Research Program, Mr. Capaptay, wrote an essay that stated that the Turkish government has “neutered domestic checks and balances” since 2002, a “consolidation of power” that could have consequences for its relationship with the U.S. He noted that Turkish officials have demonized Western nations, and polls show the Turkish people mostly do not view the U.S. Favorably. To Governor Perry’s credit, he stands by his statements, as he recently stated, “When you see the number of actions against your citizens that we would consider to be terrorist acts, I stand by my statement,” Perry said. “You need to be putting protections in place for your citizens if you’re seeing those types of attacks against, particularly, well, particularly females. That is particularly heinous from my perspective.”

Finally, some pundits and assorted academics have falsely argued that Turkey does not currently receive and U.S. Foreign aid, in another attempt to discredit Perry’s statements. Apparently, the very same government-paid propagandist who wrote the essay mentioned above, Mr. Capaptay of the “Turkish Research Program” are incapable of telling the truth and doing proper research to back up statements, such as the following: “First, Turkey does not receive U.S. foreign aid. Some time in the 1980s it was phased out, so this is not your mother’s Turkey,” U.S. Aid to Turkey has been “phased out” since 1980? Not according to the U.S. Government it hasn’t, as seen here. That shows Turkey receiving $5.4 million from the U.S. In 2011 and another $5.6 million slated to be given to them in 2012. Keep in mind that those figures are only for “base appropriations.” For instance, in FY 2009, the U.S. Government gave Turkey $7 million tax dollars for.. “economic development.” Mr. Capaptay would be advised to be careful with his own “inaccurate statements” as per his condescending statement to governor Perry concerning U.S. cash being given to Turkey today.

In conclusion, Governor Perry is 100% correct in demanding that the U.S. reset all foreign aid back to zero, reevaluate each case, and then reestablish the programs based on protecting American interests and preventing U.S. tax dollars from funding anti-American regimes. And yes, that should include Islamic-terrorist supporting governments and anyone else caught promoting and/or aiding them. Why in the world does the United States government continue to dole out billions of taxpayer dollars to hostile countries out to destroy America?

Pakistan to Shoot Down U.S. Drones- Tensions Escalate

A crucial tool in the U.S war on terror in Afghanistan, U.S.drones provide critical intelligence and precision airstrike capabilities that have proven to be effective in searching out and killing Taliban insurgents and assorted Al- Qaeda operatives operating near the Afghan-Pakistan border region. Now the Pakistani military says it will shoot down any U.S aircraft invading their airspace, severely limiting the U.S. coalition forces efforts to control the region.

“Any object entering into our airspace, including US drones, will be treated as hostile and be shot down,” a senior Pakistani military official told NBC News. Islamabad has closed the border crossings in Pakistan that the Western military alliance uses to transfer fuel and other supplies for the US-led forces in Afghanistan. Pakistan also called on the United States to vacate the Shamsi Air Base in Balochistan province. Pakistani forces took control of the base on Saturday after most of the US military personnel left. While U.S. military commanders have downplayed the significance of these developments, even of the most casual of observers can see that Pakistan has now become increasingly hostile to the U.S. simply by taking these actions at face value. This hostility actually became evident when U.S Navy Seals killed Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan right near the Pakistani Military Intelligence headquarters, which has also been downplayed by the U.S State department. This has become a very volatile situation that has been completely mishandled by the Obama administration and the State dept. due to the lack of any rebuke when it became evident that the Pakistani government had been harboring the world’s most wanted terrorist for years. Now Pakistan has not only closed down critical supply routes on the Afghan-Pakistan border, they are refusing to allow the U.S. to use drones to enable maximum control of the area. Meanwhile our State dept. and the Obama administration continue to directly fund the very same Pakistani military that are threatening to shoot down any U.S aircraft that gets near the border region.

On Friday, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani warned the US and NATO that any future cross-border attack would be met with a “detrimental response”.

Update: Now the Taliban just announced they are in “peace talks” with the Pakastani government.

2012 just can’t get here fast enough!

Pakistani Forces May Have Been Killed After Attacking U.S. Troops

The killing of 24 Pakistani soldiers by U.S. airstrikes may have been a defensive action.

The facts have been slow to come out in the killing of 24 Pakistani soldiers on Saturday, but new reports are surfacing that detail a different course of events than has been reported over the weekend.

A senior Pakistani defense official acknowledged that Pakistani troops fired first, sending a flare, followed by mortar and machine-gun fire, toward what he said was “suspicious activity” in the brush-covered area below their high-altitude outpost barely 500 yards from the border.

According to Afghan security officials, their commandos were engaged with U.S. Special Operations troops in a nighttime raid against suspected Taliban insurgents when they came under cross-border fire and called in an airstrike.[1]

While the U.S. has not yet responded to demands for an apology, the administration has expressed condolences for the deaths of the Pakistani soldiers.

Supporting the stance that perhaps U.S. troops were attacked over the border by Pakistani forces, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the United States General Martin Dempsey refused to apologize.

Gen. Dempsey says that while they Pakistanis “have reason to be furious that they have 24 soldiers dead and that what killed them was the ordinance of a partner,” as far as the U.S. having anything to apologize for: “absolutely not”.

Pakistan has now shut it’s borders to U.S. supply traffic which could affect almost half of all supplies flowing into the Afghanistan

Speaker Boehner’s Libya Resolution Passes House

Speaker Boehner’s Libya House resolution H.R. 292 passed the House by a vote of 268 – 145 – 1 this past week. While many Republicans supported and voted for this bill on Friday, Congressman Allen West (R-FL) voted against it, and instead voted for Dennis Kucinich’s H. Con. Res. 51, The Kucinich War Powers Resolution. This resolution failed largely due to the intervention of Speaker Boehner, as noted in a FoxNews.com article:
Rep. Dennis  Kucinich (D-OH) authored a resolution a few weeks ago to require the  president to halt the involvement of the U.S. in the Libya conflict. Initially,  the House planned to consider the Kucinich resolution on Wednesday. But quickly,  the GOP leadership realized that if the House worked its will, it’s likely the  lawmakers would adopt Kucinich’s plan.
Even though many rank-and-file lawmakers agreed with Kucinich, the GOP  majority was reluctant to have a liberal, Democratic Congressman take the lead  on this issue. Secondly, some feared Kucinich’s resolution went too far,  mandating a withdrawal when Congress had failed to consult top commanders in the  field. Plus, House Republicans certainly didn’t want to debate the Libya issue  on the same day the entire GOP Conference huddled with Mr. Obama at the White  House on the debt ceiling. Third, there was worry that a U.S. withdrawal could  harm the viability of NATO. (emphasis mine)
Instead of adopting the Kucinich resolution and withdrawing the U.S. troops from Libya, ( that we are told are not really there) we see Speaker Boehner intervene with a resolution to “talk” about the issue instead of taking action. Seems like the time for talking was before we attacked a country who has not attacked anyone in NATO, as their charter states is the prerequisite for waging war on Libya. Using the White House meeting on the debt ceiling debate as an excuse to not address this situation immediately is bowing down to the bully pulpit of Barack Hussein Obama, and a disservice to America and the rule of law. Throw in here the fact that there was a worry that the withdrawl of troops in Libya would harm the viability of NATO, and we see just how incompetent our Congress has become today. The viability of NATO is already down to nothing when we consider the fact that NATO peacekeeping troops have been non-existent in the Middle East and North Africa, as these regions implode in a fireball of revolution and chaos. I find it to be hypocritical on how NATO refuses to intervene on the behalf of oppressed citizens whom are being murdered in many other countries, and yet they can wage an illegal war on Libya at the direction of Barack Hussein Obama. America is being used here once again, as the truth is that without the United States doing the bombing and killing in Libya, and thus footing the bill for the Libyan war action, NATO would not be there. Period. This is Obama’s war, and Congress and the War Powers Act of 1973 are irrelvelant.
In Former Military Commander and new Florida Congressman Allen West’s weekly eNewsletter we see exactly what a soldier who has been in two wars thinks of the recent House Libya war action resolutions:
Libya is falling apart, and I shall not support our President’s violation of our law, the War Powers Act of 1973. Speaker Boehner Resolution on Libya – On Friday, June 3, the House approved H. Res. 292 by a vote of 268-145-1, I was one of 10 Republicans who voted “No.”
The resolution would establish that the President has not asked for congressional authorization, and the Congress has not granted it.  H. Res. 292 would reassert Congress’ constitutional role on funding, would require the President to provide within 14 days information on the mission that should have been provided from the start, and would reaffirm the vote Congress took last week that says there should be no troops on the ground.  I voted “No” because we are all aware of these facts as we have seen the Libya operation reach Day 74, as of this vote. By law the President was to come to Congress at or near Day 60, which he did not do. The time for requesting more reports is long past. I shall not see us commit our most precious resources, the American fighting men and women, into another undefined combat theater of operations. Libya is becoming a classic “mission creep” operation.
- Kucinich War Powers Resolution – On
Friday, June 3, H. Con. Res. 51 failed to pass the House by a vote of 148-265, I voted “Yes.”  The bill would direct the President to remove the United States Armed Forces from Libya within 15 days of adoption. This bill was in keeping with the letter of the law, the War Powers Act of 1973. ( emphasis mine)
Allen West Congressman West has not only taken a stand against the Obama administration’s illegal war action in Libya but has also also taken a stand against the cowardice of the establishment GOP in failing to denounce our involvement in the Libyan civil war today, their failure to demand it be stopped immediately.
**As a footnote here, just where is the anti-war faction of The Democratic Attack Machine and their masters in the media today? You know, the Liberal anti-war zealots who called G.W.Bush a war criminal for freeing millions of oppressed Iraqi citizens from the murderous Sadaam Hussein? When was the last time you heard anyone in the mainstream media denounce Barack Hussein Obama’s illegal war in Libya? The fact is that the D.A.M., led by the media have been largely silent about Obama’s newest war action. This type of hypocricy should be called out be all Americans, including our supposed GOP Leadership in Congress.

The United States Enters 4th War? Against Pakistan?

We see some more startling news about supposedly NATO gunships now attacking a Pakistani Army post and injuring two soldiers today. From CNSNEWS.COM:

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan (AP) — A NATO helicopter attacked a Pakistani army post near the Afghan border Tuesday, injuring two Pakistani soldiers in an incident that could further increase tension following the U.S. raid that killed Osama bin Laden, Pakistani intelligence officials said.

A Pakistani Army post on the border with Afghanistan gets attacked by a gunship chopper and a NATO puppet says that yes there has been an “incident” and we will have to access the situation. Why isn’t the U.S. Military Commander in charge there answering questions and explaining why we have now attacked Pakistan on their own soil ?  I do believe this is turning out to be just like in Libya, where a bomb strike murdered 3 innocent children and Ghaddafi’s son, and the only explanation we have to date is that it was a “NATO” plane. Why are the people not being told if it was a U.S. plane ( most likely), or a plane from another country that bombed those innocent children? Maybe if we made G.W. Bush Preisdent for one more day the supposed mainstream media would have the courage to investigate and report the facts behind the bombing? I am pretty certain that Bush would be called a murderer and war criminal if he had attacked Libya under these same conditions. Thus the media spin and lies continue today, in keeping Americans in the dark about the truth. So who attacked Pakistan today ?

There were helicopters operating in the border region, and we are aware there has been an incident, said NATO coalition spokesman Lt. Col. John Dorrian. “But we are going to have to assess the situation.”He declined to give further details or say which NATO country was involved. (emphasis mine)

Just as the U.S. is now hiding behind the NATO coalition disguise to wage an illegal war action against Libya, it now appears it is being used here to deny accountability for today’s attack on Pakistan. The fact is, that most Helicopter gunships flying in this region are in fact, AMERICAN.

Pakistani troops responded with machine gun fire and deployed two helicopter gunships over the post, but the American NATO helicopter had already left, they said. ( strikeout is mine)

Is the U.S. now at war with Pakistan, making us involved in a record four wars at one time ?  It will be interesting to see the spin and misinformation to come out of the media propagandists when the White House gives its mandated talking points in order to cover this debacle up. One thing is for sure, Obama has already played most of his “blame Bush” cards, but now he can just blame a mysterious, unidentified NATO gunship as the culprit here. People can not call anyone a war criminal for the murder of innocents in Libya, and now nobody can be held accountable for today’s attack on a Pakistani Army post. Isn’t this convenient for the previously anti-war Senator Obama? It sure is, seeing as he is in perpetual campaign mode 24/7, some year and a half before the 2012 elections.

NATO Takes Over in Libyan Civil War. Excuse me?

NATO< stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and for those who flunked  History and Geography both, Libya is

A: Not in the Atlantic Ocean and,      B:  Libya did not attack the United States.  The original NATO charter was set up as an organization that constitutes a group of member states that agree to collectively defend their countries against an external attack.  Who did Libya attack recently?  So how would the NATO charter become so convoluted as to allow other nations to proceed with an act of war against Libya ?

The United States of America is governed by the laws put forth within our Constitution and bill of rights, not by the U.N., NATO, or the E.U. We are not, and will not be governed by any New World Order or One World Governmental system bent on relegating America to a second-rate country, no matter what the collective failed governments from the rest of the world think. We will fight and defend The United States of America  from having her wealth and prosperity pillagedby a bunch of  wanna-be Marxist/Socialist King-makers, period. The American military action in the Libyan Civil war is illegal according to both the U.S.  Constitution and the NATO charter.

Just five days ago, NATO refused to reach consensus on the enforcement of the  U.N. authorized no-fly zone, due to Turkey rejecting the idea of waging war against Libya, and France’s reservations on transferring the command of its ongoing operations to NATO.  In the meantime, the propagandists in charge of this war action have now renamed the term WAR, to be calleda Kinetic Military action.  Boy, that is eerily similar to Socialist Democrats becoming Liberals, and then changing their name again to Progressives to try to hide their Socialistic/Communist agenda. ( All the while hiding behind the mantra of the old Democratic Party of the U.S. )  Oh what a tangled web we  weave, when first we practice to deceive!

If the Obama wants to try to use the example of NATO being active in the Iraq and Afghanistan WARS as a defence for this ploy that has gotten the U.S.into another war, there is one glaring difference between that and the Libyan Civil war of today: America was attacked on her own soil on Sept. 11th, 2001. That dictates the right for America and NATO to stage the counter-offensive against the people behind those attacks, no matter where they chose to try to hide. This war action is a huge step towards a One World Government, as they are now combining Nato, the E.U, and the U.N. into one entity, and using the United States military to lead an attack on another country that has not attacked anyone.

Now that the dirty work is done and the U.S.can be blamed on the world stage once again for any civilian casualties, here comes the rest of the world agreeing to take part in patroling the no-fly zone. Must be nice to sit on your ass and let the Americans blow up all the anti-aircraft stations, and then when it is virtually danger-free, to agree to supply fighter jets.( See the Arabs )  The only effective military action that was taken here came in the form of the initial barrage of cruise missiles launched by U.S. warships, at a cost to the taxpayer of $567,000 a piece!  Those strikes took out effectively 97% of all of Libya’s anti-aircraft stations. The rest of the story in the media about French jets hitting one truck, and other tall tales about the so-called *international coalition*  is a bunch of propaganda to try to cover up the fact that Barack Hussein Obama has waged an illegal war on Libya without the approval of the U.S. Congress!
