‘Herschel First’: Kudlow Calls For Trump To Put His ‘Political Plans On Hold’ As Georgia Runoff Looms
Fox Business host Larry Kudlow urged former President Donald Trump to place his “political plans” on pause, citing the looming Dec. 6 runoff in Georgia.
“Tonight Herschel first: That’s my message to the Republican Party. You can carry the house and you can pick up the Senate if Herschel Walker wins the runoff. Now is not the time for all kinds of finger pointing and blame gaming. Now is a time for some party unity for a change to push Herschel Walker over the goal line and into the end zone,” Kudlow, a former adviser to Trump, said. “The end zone is a GOP Senate with 51 votes, 51-49 might sound like a tight one, but in fact it would be a GOP landslide. All the committee chairs go to the Republicans. They would run the budget process, tax policy, permitting, border control, parental education and on and on. That’s how important this is. If you want to save America, save Herschel.”
Former NFL running back and Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker faces a Dec. 6 runoff against Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock of Georgia, who led by roughly 0.5% in Tuesday’s election. Kudlow noted that Republican Gov. Brian Kemp reportedly agreed to loan his get-out-the-vote operation to Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Senate minority leader.
Pollster Frank Luntz said Friday his advice to former President Trump would be to “take a very long vacation” and “simply disappear” for a month, claiming the former president was “destroying himself” with attacks on Republicans like Govs. Ron DeSantis of Florida and Glenn Youngkin of Virginia.
WATCH:
Trump said he would make an announcement at Mar-a-Lago, the Florida estate he owns, on Nov. 15 during a Monday rally for Republican Sen.-elect J.D. Vance of Ohio.
Trump came under fire after some high-profile endorsements, like Republican candidates Doug Mastriano and Mehmet Oz, lost, while others face tight election races that have yet to be called in midterm elections where the Republican Party underperformed expectations of a “red wave” nationally
“Now we are talking save America. Make America again, make America great again. America first. And frankly it all adds up to Herschel first,” Kudlow said. “In conversations I have had with leading Republicans around the country just in the last day or two, they will all be coming around descending in Georgia to help the Herschel first operation and I think it would be terrific if my former boss Donald Trump put his own political plans on hold just until we get through the Herschel first operation, that’s December 6.”
Kudlow also called on Trump to unlock a “good chunk” of the money his political action committee raised to assist Walker. Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas questioned Trump’s apparent lack of midterm spending on Nov. 3, and Fox News host Jesse Watters similarly criticized Trump and McConnell over their spending decision Wednesday.
