State Dept Orders Families of Ukraine Embassy Staff to Evacuate
- Family members ordered to leave
- Non-essential personnel have the option to leave
Things are going so well in U.S.-Russia negotiations over Ukraine that the State Department is ordering the families of U.S. Embassy staff there to leave.
The order comes just after talks in Geneva between U.S. and Russian officials ended with “no major breakthrough” and days after President Biden signaled to Putin that the international community might turn a blind eye to a “minor incursion” into Ukraine.
The last time the administration oversaw a hasty evacuation of a U.S. embassy was in Afghanistan as the country collapsed under Biden’s ill-conceived exit plan.
