Presidential Itinerary – the details
President Donald Trump will receive his daily briefing as prepared by the intelligence community then greet the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The president will participate in a photo op with the Uzbeki president just before meeting with him.
Later in the afternoon, the president will attend a photo op with the White House News Photographers Association award recipients then host a California sanctuary state roundtable.
At the conclusion of his day, President Trump will go to Walter Reed Medical Center to visit First Lady Melania Trump who is recovering after a kidney procedure.

Official Statements
On Hosting Trade Delegation from China
The trade delegation from China, led by Vice Premier Liu He will participate in meetings at the Department of the Treasury on Thursday, May 17 and Friday, May 18, 2018. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin will lead the discussions, along with Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and United States Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer. Additional senior Administration Officials will also participate. These meetings are a continuation of the talks held in Beijing two weeks ago and will focus on rebalancing the United States–China bilateral economic relationship. Additional information will be made available during the course of the visit.

On the House Passage of the VA MISSION Act
President Donald J. Trump applauds the House of Representatives for voting to pass the VA MISSION Act today. This important legislation will transform the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) into a high-performing and integrated healthcare system for the 21st century. This system will strengthen the VA and provide timely and seamless care to VA patients, modernize VA health care by making investments in VA assets and provide $5.2 billion in urgently needed funds in order to prevent interruption of Veterans currently using the Choice Program. The President encourages members of the Senate to put the needs of our nations veterans over partisan politics, and pass this necessary legislation before Memorial Day to ensure that our Nations bravest do not have to wait in never-ending lines to receive the care they rightfully deserve.
