Trump may veto $1.3 trillion spending bill over DACA, border wall

President Donald Trump said Friday that he is thinking about vetoing the spending bill passed by Congress early that day because the measure failed to fund the border wall and did nothing to help illegal aliens in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

“I am considering a VETO of the Omnibus Spending Bill based on the fact that the 800,000 plus DACA recipients have been totally abandoned by the Democrats (not even mentioned in Bill) and the BORDER WALL, which is desperately needed for our National Defense, is not fully funded,” Trump tweeted Friday morning.

The president’s statement came less than 24 hours after White House Office of Managment and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney told reporters that the president would sign the bill.

Without the $1.3 trillion funding measure passed by Congress early Friday, the federal government would enter another shutdown.
