Nutty Professor to Allow Snowflake Students to Pick Their Own Grades

The latest signal that the liberal occupation of the nation’s college campuses has charted a course destined for “Idiocracy”, a Georgia professor has a novel new idea on how to prevent his precious little snowflakes to avoid being triggered.

In an unbelievable report, a University of Georgia business teacher is prepared to allow his students to assign themselves their own grades as a method to reduce stress.

It’s hard to see how such a practice can possibly prepare students for their futures in the business world where idiots can make decisions that have serious consequences to an organizations’ bottom line.

Yet that is a possibility now that this liberal loon is prepared to level the playing field to unjustly elevate the stupidest and laziest people in his classes with the hard workers who dedicate themselves to success through studying and hard work.

Via Campus Reform “Prof lets students choose own grades for ‘stress reduction’”:

A University of Georgia professor has adopted a “stress reduction policy” that will allow students to select their own grades if they “feel unduly stressed” by the ones they earned.

According to online course syllabi for two of Dr. Richard Watson’s fall business courses, he has introduced the policy because “emotional reactions to stressful situations can have profound consequences for all involved.”

As such, if students feel “unduly stressed by a grade for any assessable material or the overall course,” they can “email the instructor indicating what grade [they] think is appropriate, and it will be so changed” with “no explanation” being required.

“If in a group meeting, you feel stressed by your group’s dynamics, you should leave the meeting immediately and need offer no explanation to the group members,” the policy adds, saying such students can “discontinue all further group work” with their remaining grade being “based totally on non-group work.”

Similarly, when it comes to “tests and exams” for Watson’s “Data Management” and “Energy Informatics” courses, all will be “open book and open notes” and “designed to assess low level mastery of the course material” (the “Stress Reduction” section has been removed from both syllabi, but an archived version of the “Data Management” syllabus has been provided here).

Finally, for in-class presentations, Watson will allow “only positive comments” to be made, while “comments designed to improve future presentations will be communicated by email.”

This is going to turn out REAL well, especially if it spreads:

UPDATE: Fortunately the negative publicity generated by this fanatical leftist’s incredibly stupid idea has led to the University of Georgia intervening to nip this idiotic idea in the bud which is an encouraging sign that pointing out this stuff quickly can sometimes lead to positive results.

Via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution “UGA nixes prof’s plan to let students decide grades to lessen stress”:

A well respected University of Georgia business school professor, concerned over the stress on his students, posted online course policies that would have allowed them to change their grades, abandon group work that taxed them and take open book tests “designed to assess low level mastery of the course material.”

While Terry College of Business students may have applauded Richard Watson’s policies as posted this week, UGA did not. The policies have been stricken from Watson’s online syllabus and will not be allowed, according to the university.

Even though it’s bleak right now, there is a glimmer of hope that the tide can be turned against the dumbing-down of America and the appeasement of whiners.

Kudos to the University of Georgia for intervening to stop this madness.
