In the state of Louisiana, the madness of leftist intolerance has flowed northward up the Mississippi River from New Orleans to Baton Rouge.
Emboldened by Big Easy Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s highly publicized removal of historical Confederate monuments, the intolerant left has a new target.

The mascot for the Louisiana State University Tigers is under assault by a whiny campus activist group which is calling for the school to dump its famous mascot because it is a symbol of white oppression.

Heat Street is reporting “LSU Students Accuse ‘Violent’ Tiger Mascot of Being ‘Symbol of White Oppression’, Want it Changed”:
Students at Louisiana State University have started an online petition urging the establishment to change its “Tigers” mascot, claiming it’s the symbol of “white oppression”.
The petition, which has so far attracted 450 signatures, says the mascot was picked by “powerful white males” in tribute to “a Confederate regiment called Louisiana’s Tigers,” who were “known for their propensity for violence on and off the battle field.”
“Louisiana State University named their mascot the Tigers, and they named it during the height of Jim Crow South. This was a time when black men feared for their lives, and were treated as sub human. This symbol is the most prevalent confederate symbol in the United States,” the petition’s opening reads, Campus Reform reports.
The petition’s author claims the mascot is “incredibly insulting” for African Americans because they have to “attend a school that honors Confederate militantism.”
“It is already hard enough to be black at LSU, and these symbols must be changed.”
The student gave another reason why the tiger mascot ought to be changed: “It’s also cruel to cage a wild animal for the amusement of privileged white people. They’ve never been in a cage!”
The demands for LSU to eliminate the oppressive tiger will soon expand to petitioning the university to scrub any references of it from the history books.
The American Taliban is now running amok on the nation’s college campuses as years of leftist indoctrination has produced a new breed of extremists that will soon be forced to confront the grim reality that is the real world. There isn’t much of a career path in corporate America for angry, entitled revolutionaries as many of these petulant overgrown babies are about to discover.
It’s hard to see how this idiotic and futile crusade is going to result in the results that the fragile young snowflakes desire. It will be interesting to see how LSU officials handle this because it is certain to generate media attention, will they do something to appease the whiners?
