President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a lengthy phone conversation Thursday night during which Trump agreed to honor the “one China” policy.
President Trump agreed, at the request of President Xi, to honor the “one China” policy which places Taiwan under Chinese rule.
Trump has formerly challenged Chinese initiatives in the South China Sea and among trade partners, but this recent move shows some give to the country that sends more trade goods to America than any other.
President Trump tends to play things several moves ahead of his opponents by showing false hands in order to get a better outcome. Only time will tell if this is another bluff or the sign of the president realizing the governing is harder than campaigning.
