Tropical wave 99-L strengthened into a tropical depression Sunday afternoon as it entered the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to continue strengthening as it turns towards Florida.
TD9 isn’t showing a great deal of organization yet, but is forecast to make landfall on Thursday as a strong tropical storm or weak hurricane.
