It’s an ugly breakup, Trump and Fox News
Fox News and Donald Trump – one would think that it would be a marriage made in well, hell if you ask liberal, heaven if you ask a conservative.
So what’s all the hubbub about? Is it a war between the ego of Trump and the ego of Roger Ailes? From the outside it just looks like another contest of whose is bigger and really does anyone care? Guess what, Trump followers care, they care a lot. Go to any Facebook page in support of Trump and you will see BOYCOTT FOX in groups from across the country. Ask why and you will regret it. With a forceful use of the keyboard they will tell you in no uncertain terms that Fox News is dead to them and there a lot of adjectives that that explain colorfully why that is so.
It started way back at the first Republican Presidential Debate when an actual reporter for Fox News asked a question that Trump felt was out of bounds and only asked to embarrass him in a national forum. The question, by Fox News reporter Megyn Kelly was this, “You’ve called women you don’t like ‘fat pigs,’ ‘dogs,’ ‘slobs,’ and ‘disgusting animals,” and that this point Trump trying to be funny, (I guess) “No just Rosie O’Donnell,” Kelly continued, “Your Twitter account has several disparaging comments about women’s looks. You once told a contestant on The Celebrity Apprentice it would be a ‘pretty picture’ to see her on her knees. Does that sound to you like the temperament of a man we should elect as president? And how will you answer the charge from Hillary Clinton, who was likely to be the Democratic nominee, that you are part of the ‘war on women’?” It was the bigger than the shot heard round the world, according to Trump. She hit below the belt and it was done to personally embarrass him, true Trump believers shouted or in Facebook land, they typed in ALL CAPITALS.
So what is the newest rue? According to Trump, “@FoxNews has been treating me very unfairly & I have therefore decided that I won’t be doing any more Fox shows for the foreseeable future,” Trump tweeted. According to Trump when news polls came out in favor of Trump Fox news downplayed them. Then came Wednesday night’s broadcast of the Kelly File, Megyn Kelly’s program. On the program was Conservative columnist Rich Lowry who was breaking down who he felt had done well in the second Republican Presidential Debate. Lowry shocked Kelly with the statement about Carly Fiorina. He said that, “Trump obviously attacks everyone, but she has become a much bigger target and part of what’s going on here is that last debate, let’s be honest, Carly cut his balls off with the precision of a surgeon…”Yes he said that Trump’s balls were clipped by a woman of all people. Trump went ballistic with ranting tweets followed by Thursday morning retaliation remarks and then an all-out boycott. Now in defense of Fox, they said the feud is because Trump was axed from Bill Riley’s news show. So who do you believe?
Trump continues to play the poor pitiful routine whenever he is called out on bad behavior and Fox News isn’t about news anymore. It’s about personalities and ratings. Trump and Fox are a marriage, a very bad marriage. They will both be back for more. Meanwhile, we the public are the kids in the middle of this disastrous custody battle. Come on guys, just kiss and make up already.
