Tragedy in Connecticut Means More Gun Control??

With the awful heart breaking tragedy in Connecticut, the usual post massacre arguments follow with liberals blaming conservatives for their pro gun views and conservatives blaming liberals for their taking God out of society and promoting more violence thru video games and movies. I could see the argument on both sides, but I am more prone to believe the second argument. As song writer Bob Dylan so sarcastically and succinctly put it in the 60’s “and who really is responsible for any one man carrying a gun? Surely it’s impossible that it’s him.” Well said indeed.

Of course the usual call by politicians are calling for more gun control, especially Mayor Bloomberg in New York calling on Obama to be more strict with gun laws. That being said, Connecticut and New Jersey are two states with some of the most strict gun laws in the country. There are currently 300 federal and state gun laws in existence controlling, the sale, use and trafficking of guns not counting the thousands of local gun laws. So, why do we need any more? You just have to enforce the current ones.

In 2007, there were 613 fatal firearm accidents in the United States, constituting 0.5% of 123,706 fatal accidents that year. Based on survey data from the U.S. Department of Justice, roughly 5,340,000 violent crimes were committed in the United States during 2008. These include simple/aggravated assaults, robberies, sexual assaults, rapes, and murders Of these, about 436,000 or 8% were committed by offenders visibly armed with a gun.

Recently Detective Mark Furman brought out the fact that no matter what you do a person intent on causing a mass murder will find a way. He pointed out that in Oklahoma City they used fertilizer so do we ban fertilizer? The 9/11 hijackers used box cutters so do we ban box cutters? In China in 2010 a man went on a rampage and stabbed 20 people with a knife and again last week another man stabbed 23 people in China with a knife so do we ban knives? Besides these murderers always chose safe anti-gun sites knowing they can succeed. Airplanes now have gun carrying air martials on board to prevent hijackings and many people argue they should have more armed security in public places like schools and shopping centers.

  • Adam Lanzo violated three anti-gun laws himself: First, Connecticut law requires a person be over 21 to possess a handgun. Lanza was 20.
  • Second, Connecticut requires a permit to carry a pistol on one’s person, a permit Lanza did not have.
  • Third, it is unlawful in Connecticut to possess a firearm on public or private elementary or secondary school property, a statute Lanza clearly ignored.
  • Fourth, with details on the Bushmaster rifle still sketchy, it’s possible Lanza may have violated a Connecticut law banning possession of “assault weapons.”

Lanza lived with his mother in a 1.5 million dollar home and she legally owned the guns. He further comitted another crime by stealing the guns from his mother. His father is an executive with GE and makes a million dollars a year and lives in Connnecticut with his second wife. Ryan Lanza himself was a loner and a tech genius people who knew him said. Others said he was a ticking time bomb waiting to happen and was on medication.

Lanza was devastated over his parents divorce. All of these mass murderers like the Colombine kids and Va. tech gunman were on some sort of mind altering psycotic treating drugs. Adam lanza was most likely on psychotropic drugs which most cause aggressive or violent behavior for all these new supposed illnesse ADD, Sad,and on and on and on,We have to stop drugging our children, we have to take the time to teach them respect for authority, respect for elders, respect for all religions and the concept that their is a power, creator that is greater than all of us,otherwise we create what we have agnostic or atheists who have no respect and no regard for anything, secular progressives believe everything is everything, whats the big deal ? None of these mass killings happened before these drugs came out and psychiatrists say this could be the result of side effects to them. Lanza did have mental issues and was anti-social being autistic with Asperger’s syndrome an anti-social disease. He was obsessed with video games and dressed in black and hung with kids who dressed in black overcoats. Anyone seeing some of these video games today knows how realistic they are in killing bad guys and other kinds of human debris that after spending hours in front of them leaves indelible impressions in their minds.

The website had this interesting statistic about gun control: wherever they have instituted gun bans the crime rate has gone up exponentially, i.e. chicago has the toughest
gun control laws in the usa and the gun crime has gone up 85%,look at the UK, same thing, now look at florida, the easiest state to have a concealed carry permit, gun crimes down exponentially.

One commenter I read had this to say: Abortions murder 100,000 X the children every year than murders using guns do, but the socialists are ok with abortions deaths and don’t cry a tear real or fake for them. This isn’t about preventing murder, it’s about enslaving Americans by removing their last line of defense from tyrany. So true.

Taking away people’s guns isn’t about safety as many liberals like to think, it is about control of the population. The first thing Hitler did is remove all the guns from the people. Saddam did the same.
A very good online budddy of mine summed it up perfectly saying, “Consider this:
A maniac of some kind gets a hold of a nuclear weapon, a biological or chemical weapon and kills THOUSANDS or MILLIONS……….Obviously, governments are not going to get rid of nukes or WMDs of various kinds. Also, the large number of PRIVATE weapons in the US at this time is UNKNOWN. So, the gun control fanatics are not really interested in gun control. THEY ARE FOR PEOPLE CONTROL. THEY ARE FOR POPULATION CONTROL, such as abortion, birth control, euthanasia, etc etc. They are for SPEECH CONTROL where all speech now is PC and if you do not knuckle under, you could lose your job or even be indicted for causing violence by verbal comments. Liberals are for RELIGION CONTROL where you are NOT allowed to practice your faith in public places such as prayer in the schools.
Well, you know what this is all about. IT IS THE CONTROL OF PEOPLE, not guns.

Bloomberg: Obama Must Take ‘Immediate Action’ Against Guns…

HOUSE DEM: Must ‘exploit’ shooting…

MURDOCH: ‘When will politicians find courage to ban automatic weapons?’…

Gun-control laws failed Connecticut children

  1. First off, the killer was Adam Lanza, not ryan. Ryan is his brother. Secondly antipsychotic Drugs and stimulants that are used by psychiatrists to treat these forms of mental illness do not have violence promoting effects. Antipsychotics, that act against dopamine in the brain, have a calming effect and repress hallucinations. So the meds he was on are not responsible for this, his mental illness and easily accesible weapons are. Knives do not have the capacity to kill that guns do. Not to mention, guns serve no other purpose than to kill. So you can keep preaching about respect for elders and teaching the difference between right and wrong, but until you can effectively treat mental illness (which at this time medicine has limited ability to do), provide parents options on what to do when they have a sick child and decrease these individuals access to guns, these tragedies will continue to happen.
Yes gun control laws do impede on some peoples rights, but if they decrease the incidence of these kinds of massacres then people should have enough common sense to hand over their right to bear arms. I promise you that those of us that don’t own weapons live the same long and happy lives those healthy people with guns do.
