Where’s Sheila Jackson-Lee When You Need Her?

Sheila Jackson-Lee (D)

Sheila Jackson-Lee. Just her name alone invokes controversy.

Never fear, she is at it again!

On Friday, on the floor of the  House, Sheila Jackson-Lee let forth a rant accusing some members of Congress of refusing to raise the debt ceiling because President Barack Obama is black.

“Read between the lines. What is different about this president that should put him in a position that he should not receive the same kind of respectful treatment of when it is necessary to raise the debt limit in order to pay our bills, something required by both statute and the 14th Amendment?

But I do not understand what I think is the maligning and maliciousness of this president. Why is he different? And in my community, that is the question that we raise. In the minority community, that is the question that is being raised. Why is this president being treated so disrespectfully?”

As usual, when all else fails, pull out the race card!

However, we have not heard a peep out of Congresswoman Jackson-Lee in defense of Representative Allen West from Florida, who was attacked from the floor of the House by Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, who said:

“The gentleman from Florida who represents thousands of Medicare beneficiaries, as do I, is supportive of this plan that would increase costs for Medicare beneficiaries. Unbelievable from a member from South Florida.”

Interestingly enough, Congresswoman Wasserman-Schultz did not address Congressman West directly, she chose to make the statement after he had left the room.

Why isn’t Sheila Jackson-Lee asking why Congressman West (a black man) is not “receiving the same kind of respectful treatment” from Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (a white woman)? Presidential candidate Herman Cain said it best when he said:

“She is playing the race card, like they do when they can’t defend this president’s record.”

Mr. Cain’s statement is proven correct with the conflict going on with Congressman West and Congresswoman Wasserman-Schultz. If it is racism with President Obama, it is racism with Congressman West. Obviously, neither situation has anything to do with racism. It’s just a convenient tactic the left uses to detract from the truth.
