A Liberal, By Any Other Name

Has anyone else noticed that the left wingers in this country keep switching monikers? It seems to be some kind of diversionary tactic to escape the bad press from every new brand they create. They are Democrats, Liberals, Progressives and goodness knows what else. However, I’m struck by one constant in the names that they choose and that is this; they do not fit the definition.

Let’s take a look, shall we?

Democrat dem·o·crat [ démmə kràt ]

1. a. supporter of democracy: Somebody who believes in or supports democracy or the democratic system of government. b. One who practices social equality.

This is obviously false, and we’ve only just begun. We know that the so-called Democrats support neither democracy, the democratic system nor social equality. The left has a long history of ignoring those whom they were elected to represent (Obamacare is only the most recent egregious example).

They certainly don’t believe in social equality, as it seems their entire platform is designed to treat certain selected groups differently than others. In fact, Democratic can be defined by the absence of hereditary or arbitrary class distinctions or privileges. The Democrats are nothing if not proponents of different treatment for different groups. Have a look at the Obamacare waivers. So, that’s “Democrat” debunked. How about “Liberal?”

Liberal lib·er·al adj [’li-b(ə-)rəl]

1. a. archaic : of or befitting a man of free birth. b : marked by generosity : openhanded c : given or provided in a generous and openhanded way d. b capitalized : of or constituting a political party advocating or associated with the principles of political liberalism.

Woops, another misnomer. A man of free birth would not willingly subject himself to the arbitrary rules and regulations imposed by the left-wing. They prefer to cast themselves in the role of the feudal overlord and, we his serfs.

In terms of generosity, they’re a little sneakier on this one. They purport to be the party of gimme gimme gimme, but that hinges on being the party of takey, takey, takey. This is how they keep the serfs in their place and dependent on the overlord.

Political liberalism is defined by individual rights and a free market, at which they also fail.  So, the lefties don’t fare well on the term “Liberal” either. Lately, we’ve been hearing the word “progressive” a lot. Maybe that’s the ticket!

Progressive pro·gres·sive [prə-‘gre-siv]

a : of, relating to, or characterized by progress b : making use of or interested in new ideas, findings, or opportunities. b. Moving forward or onward: advancing.

Three strikes, and they’re out. Lefties do all that they can to keep minorities from moving forward, as evidenced by their awful track record with civil rights. In fact, just about every step forward for equality was brought about by conservatives, while the liberals fought against it. This was another effort to assert their superiority by keeping some in a cycle of poverty, and punishing those who try to make something of themselves. Those who succeed are punished, those who don’t try are rewarded. This “stick to the status quo” mentality does precisely the opposite of advancing…anything.

However, fear not, I have found one term that actually works. Quite simply, we can refer to them as “the left.”

That’s the ticket. It’s a name that is open, honest, and accurately describes the group. That is a moniker we can all get behind. Behold, in all their weakness….The Left.
