Border Crisis: More than $1.4 Million in Hard Narcotics Seized in Eagle Pass

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized approximately $1,418,556.00 in hard narcotics over three days in 4 separate enforcement actions in Eagle Pass, Texas.

January 20th

In a second enforcement action, CBP officers assigned to the Camino Real International Bridge encountered a 33-year-old male Mexican citizen driving a 2021 Honda CR-V arriving from Mexico. The vehicle was referred for a canine and non-intrusive inspection system examination, resulting in the discovery of 35 pounds of alleged methamphetamine within the spare tire and back seat of the vehicle. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $322,730.

CBP officers encountered a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro traveling to Mexico. The vehicle was referred for a non-intrusive inspection system examination, resulting in the discovery of 4.7 pounds of alleged cocaine concealed within the quarter panels of the vehicle. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $62,993.

January 21st

CBP officers assigned to Camino Real International Bridge encountered a 21-year-old female U.S. citizen driving a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 arriving from Mexico. The vehicle was referred for a canine and non-intrusive inspection system examination, resulting in the discovery of 14.8 pounds of alleged cocaine within the intake manifold of the vehicle. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $197,810.

January 22nd

CBP officers encountered a 2021 Nissan Rogue at the Camino Real International Bridge arriving from Mexico. The vehicle was referred for a canine and non-intrusive inspection system examination, resulting in the discovery of 13.8 pounds of alleged fentanyl, 13.8 pounds of alleged heroin, 11.1 pounds of alleged cocaine and 5.4 pounds of alleged cocaine within a torque converter and brake booster found in the cargo area of the vehicle. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $835,023.

CBP seized the narcotics and vehicles, Homeland Security arrested the drivers and has initiated criminal investigations.
