Trends to Follow in 2023
Fashion is always changing, and it’s no surprise that the trends we saw in 2022 were quite different from those we saw in 2021. 2023 will surely bring all sorts of new trends and ideas!
Keep an eye out for these fresh fashion trends in the New Year.
Collaborations Are Still Hot
Influencer collaborations continue to gain traction every year. The trend is likely to grow even stronger in 2023 as brands engage in more creative partnerships than ever before. Some of 2022’s hottest collaborations included Yeezy and Balenciaga, Adidas and Prada, and Burberry and Supreme. Even Disney and Givenchy got together!
One resale platform, called Fashionphile, said that it typically sees a 200% jump in searches for collaborations when a new one lands.
Y2K is Still Riding the Wave
Although Y2K was a fashion trend 23 years ago, it’s still kicking. In fact, it only seems to be getting more popular—online searches for Y2K were up 376% in October 2022.
Largely thanks to Prada, rhinestones are also back in style. Noticing the craze, other major brands jumped on the bandwagon. Now, you can find all sorts of shiny rhinestone clothes and accessories from Gucci, Balmain, and Versace. Glitzy has never looked so good!
Totes, Hobos, and Shoulder Bags, Oh My!
Bags and purses have long been fashion staples, and that won’t change in 2023. 3 main purse styles are forecasted to be the next big things: totes, hobo bags, and shoulder bags. Fashionphile shows that Prada, Fendi, and Dior bags will continue to sell extraordinarily well.
Throughout 2022, Hermès and Chanel bags were in exceedingly high demand—almost double compared to 2021—which demonstrates a sustained love for luxury. Speaking of pieces, Birkin bags are still considered the go-to, though the cheapest option costs a mind-boggling $10,000!
Men Wearing Pearls
Pearls have been part of women’s fashion for decades, but these days, more and more men are wearing them. These trendsetters include A$AP Rocky, Harry Styles, Pharrell, and even baseballer Joc Pederson, who wears them on the field.
Pearls date back to 16th century English kings and were considered a symbol of power and luxury. In the modern day, however, they have become more closely associated with women and femininity. It is interesting, then, to see that some of pop culture’s best-known men have been wearing them without fear of being emasculated. It’s a step in the right direction!
Crazy Eye Cosmetics
If there’s one thing the pandemic has shown us, it’s that people can be extremely creative in times of stress. As masks began to obscure the lower halves of our faces, people rallied against the monotony of sterile colors and applied bizarre, flashy patterns around their eyes: bright, glittery reds and golds and unusual textures.
While the jury is still out on whether this trend is here to stay, it’s clear that it has kept a lot of people sane, creative, and motivated during these difficult times!
Facial Rejuvenation
One of the fastest-growing trends is facial rejuvenation, or the act of preserving the face’s youthfulness. Botox injections and skin treatments have become increasingly popular as of late and are only gaining prestige as people scramble to keep up with the latest trends. Social media has accelerated people’s attention to facial rejuvenation and has also helped people see themselves through the eyes of possible critics.
Beyond skincare products, people can opt for an array of cosmetic procedures that improve physical appearance. These include dermal fillers, Botox injections, laser skin resurfacing, and even a facelift, which can make you look 10 years younger!
