Former CIA Director Michael Hyden agreed with a Twitter post that called Republicans “dangerous” Wednesday in the wake of the Aug. 8 raid on Mar-a-Lago.
“I’ve covered extremism and violent ideologies around the world over my career,” Edward Luce, an associate editor of The Financial Times, posted on Twitter last week. “Have never come across a political force more nihilistic, dangerous & contemptible than today’s Republicans. Nothing close.”
“I agree,” Hayden posted on Twitter Wednesday. “And I was the CIA Director.” Hayden’s post was re-tweeted by Luce.
This is not the first time that Hayden made an inflammatory tweet. Days after the Aug. 8 Mar-a-Lago raid, he quoted a tweet about the execution of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, appearing to imply Trump should be executed.
“Sounds about right,” Hayden said in his Aug. 11 tweet as speculation about the involvement of nuclear secrets in the raid swirled based on an Aug. 11 report by The Washington Post.
Republicans and conservatives slammed the raid on the Florida estate owned by former President Donald Trump, claiming it was proof of an “abuse of power” by a politicized and weaponized agency.
The Republican National Committee did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
