Elon Musk got himself a board of directors position at Twitter by buying a little more than 9% of the company’s stock and now, he’s announcing what he plans to change at the social media behemoth.

While many hoped he would add an edit button, re-instate Donald Trump, or instantly fix Twitter’s utterly-broken mediation practices, Musk is instead pushing a change to the company’s business model – he wants to push Twitter to a subscription model.

But a verified blue check isn’t the only thing users would get for 3 bucks per month. They would get an ad-free experience (which you can get for free today by using lists instead of follows.) Using a list also ensures that you see content from those on your list, even if Twitter attempts to “shadowban” them.

Musk also mentions that there is already a 20-second time to edit – something most users have not been able to take advantage of.

The biggest thing users can expect is that Twitter may not be free much longer. Or, maybe nothing will change because using lists gives you that for free already. Would anyone pay a subscription fee to avoid the few ads that are on Twitter?

If you were hoping Musk’s new board position was going to change things at Twitter in a big way… you might be waiting a while.

This was his most recent suggestion:
