DEL RIO, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers working at the Del Rio Port of Entry seized mixed narcotics worth nearly three-quarters of a million dollars in street value.
“The layered enforcement displayed by our CBP officers led to this latest seizure,” said Port Director Liliana Flores, Del Rio Port of Entry. “As officers utilize their high-level training and inspectional skills, they continue to prevent dangerous narcotics from entering our community.”
On Saturday, April 23, 2022, CBP officers assigned to the Del Rio International Bridge encountered a passenger vehicle driven by a male U.S. citizen arriving from Mexico. A CBP officer referred the vehicle for further inspection, which included utilizing non-intrusive inspection (NII) equipment. After conducting a thorough secondary examination, officers seized 21 packages containing 30.60 pounds (13.88 kg) of methamphetamine and six packages containing 16.22 pounds (7.36 kg) of cocaine concealed within the vehicle.
The narcotics have an estimated street value of $737,117.
The narcotics and vehicle were seized by CBP OFO officers. The driver was arrested, and the case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
