The move comes as Gruden has faced a lot of scrutiny for newly surfaced emails. In those emails, Gruden had used homophobic and misogynistic slurs. He had also shared images of scantily clad women and had spoken out directly against NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Gruden rejoined the Raiders in 2018 after a stint on Monday Night Football. He had previously coached the team 1998-2001. Gruden had signed a 10 year contract at that time.
It is unclear when the announcement will be made official, but the announcement is expected in the immediate future.
