The U.S. military is handing over control of at least a section of Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan according to an unconfirmed report.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said that the Taliban is “not under control” of the airport, which is different than saying whether or not a handover is in process or if a section of the airport, as this report maintains, is under their control.
We are still 4 days from the end of Operation: CYOA in Afghanistan so it is unclear how evacuee processing will be handled and secured.
The Taliban were handling perimeter security – as requested by the Biden administration – when the tragic suicide bombing took the lives of 13 U.S. service members and 170 civilians on Thursday.
