Following a massive purge of Conservative accounts and the banning of former President Donald Trump, Twitter permanently banned conservative muckraker Project Veritas from the platform on Thursday.
Twitter said that the ban came after repeated violations of its policies against sharing private information.
“Twitter claimed the video published private information, which is false,” Vertias founder James O’Keefe said. “Twitter invited Project Veritas to, and we did, appeal that decision with Twitter. In an apparent act of retaliation for daring to question their authority, Twitter responded to our appeal by suspending our account, continuing to tell us that Project Veritas could delete the tweet and have our account reinstated.”
O’Keefe said that he believes that Twitter objected to a video where a Veritas reporter asked Guy Rosen, Facebook’s VP of Integrity, about his definition of hate speech. As the reporter was asking him questions in front of Rosen’s house, the street number was visible although the street name is not.
“Reporters with microphones [and] cameras engage in reporting activities on the streets all the time in residential communities, so I’m trying to understand what Twitter considers violating their rules against posting private information,” told The Wrap. “Does Twitter consider reporting information the public has a right to know private information?”
O’Keefe later released a video on YouTube discussing the ban:
