Marijuana Smuggler Can’t Get Past Douglas CBP Officers

TUCSON, Ariz. – Customs and Border Protection officers at the Raul Hector Castro Port of Entry in Douglas, Arizona, prevented a Mexican national from smuggling more than 250 pounds of marijuana into the United States this past Thursday.

Officers removed more than 250 packages of marijuana from smuggling vehicle

Officers referred a 44-year-old Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico, man for a further inspection of his Ford truck Thursday afternoon, following an alert by a CBP narcotics detection canine to a scent it was trained to detect. When officers searched the vehicle, they found more than 250 packages of marijuana scattered throughout the vehicle. The drugs weighed nearly 253 pounds and have an estimated value of more than $126,000.

Officers seized the drugs and vehicle. The subject was arrested for narcotics smuggling. He was then turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
