Laura Ingraham: ‘My commentary had nothing to do with race or ethnicity’

Fox News Channels’ Laura Ingraham sought Thursday night to clarify remarks she made earlier in the week on immigration after a former KKK leader endorsed her comments on immigration.

Ingraham, host of “The Ingraham Angle”, said Wednesday night that immigration has changed the country into something other than “the America we know and love.”

“Massive demographic changes have been foisted upon the American people,” she said. “Much of this is related to both illegal and, in some cases, legal immigration that, of course, progressive love.”

During her monologue, she never mentioned race or ethnicity – just immigration and far-left ideology. But, the left went Berzerk after former KKK leader David Duke endorsed her commentary.

“One of the most important (truthful) monologues in the history of MSM,” he wrote above a clip of Ingraham’s rant in a now-deleted tweet.

Most took no issue with Laura’s comments, but far-left over-reaction and Duke’s tweet prompted last night’s clarification.

“A message to those who are distorting my views, including all white nationalists and especially one racist freak whose name I will not even mention,” Ingraham said on her show. “You do not have my support, you don’t represent my views and you are antithetical to the beliefs I hold dear. The purpose of last night’s angle was to point out that the rule of law – meaning secure borders – is something that used to bind our country together. And despite what some may be contending – I made explicitly clear that my commentary had nothing to do with race or ethnicity, but rather a shared goal of keeping America safe, and her citizens safe and prosperous.”

Ingraham, hoping to help liberals understand that she is not against immigration, said that her remarks were meant to highlight issues with the current immigration system and that it should be replaced with something more advantageous for America and her citizens.

“Furthermore, as I have said repeatedly on this show, merit-based immigration does wonders for our country’s economy, our way of life and how we define our country – I even said that in my opening thoughts last night,” Laura said. “I want to make it really clear that my concern will continue to remain with the families who have suffered the tragic results of illegal immigration, the children put in dangerous and unfair situations at the border, and all those border agents around the country who work to keep our country safe.”
