Secret Service responds to shots fired near White House
U.S. Secret Service personnel responded on Saturday to a person who “allegedly suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound” near the north fence line of the White House.
No other injuries or incidents have been reported and the injured man received medical attention but died shortly thereafter.
The president and first lady are in West Palm Beach this morning but, members of the press that were in the White House at the time were moved to the basement.
According to Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gridley, the president is aware of the incident and has been briefed.
